Ravy’s Hair Salon

First of all, I’d like to say that I have been a customer for a long time. The husband and wife team, Tony and Ravy, used to have another hair salon right behind the McDonald’s on Broad Street. That one has been closed for a few years now but the great thing is, they’ve opened shop right on Westminster Street. Ravy has always done a wonderful job with my hair. I’ve never had an issue with her work and I leave feeling beautiful all the time. Today, I just had the shampoo, cut, & blow-​dry done and costs me $ 30. I have long, thick, and curly hair so it’s a tiny bit more than the usual $ 27 they’d charge for shorter hair. By the way, make sure you have cash on you! When I went today, they didn’t accept debit or credit cards. Luckily, I had the exact amount in cash or else I would have been running in the rain to an ATM somewhere…

This hole in the wall spot has become my favorite threading spot in Providence by far. They also do hair and other services, but I’ve only come here for eyebrow threading. Both Ravy and Tony (they’re married) are very good, but if I had to choose one, my money’s on Tony.
Tony’s threading technique:
–Listens to what you want
–Stands back and considers brow strategy
–Eyebrow 1: brush, trim with scissors, thread, pluck
–Eyebrow 2: brush, trim with scissors, thread, pluck
–Stand backs, brushes brows, and considers brow work thus far.
–Additional shaping as needed to Eyebrows 1 and/​or 2 until end result is achieved.
End result: Perfect brows.

I recently moved to Providence. As I walking around the neighborhood to get acquainted, I came across Ravy’s Hair Salon. From the outside, the salon does not look impressive, but what caught my eye was the sign for eyebrown threading. I had yet to find a good eyebrow threading place, so I decided to give it a try. Ravy’s husband did my eyebrows (first time a man has threaded my eyebrows), and eyebrows never looked so good! He spent a lot of time trimming my eyebrows before beginning the threading process. I have very long eyebrow hairs that can get a little wavy. By reducing the mass I no longer had to worry about the waviness. No other eyebrow threading place I have ever been to took the time to trim all the hairs. The end result was fantastic. And it only cost $ 10!
A few day’s later I came to get my haircut. The owner, Ravy cut my hair. For the shampoo, haircut, and blow dry, it only cost $ 27! She did an amazing job too!
