Would be a 3.5 pushing towards 4. Overall great experience. A pretty casual atmosphere and not much to complain about. Huge portions and friendly service. My sandwich was well prepared and delicious. Wide variety on the menu and cookies to die for! Would go back for a casual quick lunch with a friend

The service here is VERYFAST and portions are HUGE! I ordered a veggie omelette with homefries and toast. I kid you not when I say that it came out in no less than FIVEMINUTES! Did they have it predict my order before I got there? Did they zap it in the microwave? ISTHISTHERESTAURANTOFTHEFUTURE! I swear, they must posses some kind of time-turning magic. The meal was pretty good, but nothing extraordinary. But great for a fast brunch with the family

Delivery, healthy selections, tasty food. This is really convenient for college students!

This place rules. The only reason I am even writing this is to say go there and do not get delivery. They put all the hot foods in styrofoam containers and every single sandwich, omelette and even the pancakes I have tried arrived soggy as hell and mostly an inedible mess. 5 stars for sure if they could change up the packaging for delivery

Good food just way overpriced.. . The 5 $ cookies are good though. Every time I come to eat here, I feel like I leave a little disappointed. For the price of the food you don’t get much and the food isn’t the most phenomenal sandwiches/lunch&dinner menu. If they would drop the price a little and add more incentives to come I’d def be more willing to come back

Very much a space for college students– can’t say I’ve been back since graduating. Big portions. They offer sandwiches, salads, numerous cakes/pies, and of course– their signature(HUGE) cookies. All desserts come with ice cream, though you have to ask for it. BYOB(expensive liquor store right downstairs). My go-to orders are: — Chicken vegetable with tomato soup. Tomato soup is sweet, sandwich is overflowing with grilled veggies and chicken. Half is more than enough but if you get the whole one, will have plenty to take home. — Thanksgiving sandwich — Salad with grilled chicken — Chocolate chunk cookie or the Garbage cookie Overall, the food is just okay(not too flavorful, a bit greasy) and the dessert is overly sweet, but it’s not a bad choice on Thayer if you want something a little more casual that’s eat-in/less rushed than nearby restaurants. Friendly service. Order at the counter and they’ll bring your food to you. Won’t rush you, a good place to do work or linger with friends. I’ve never been during peak hours or when it’s been overly busy. Décor is far from classy, feels clunky and sterile. Not super comfortable but I find it a bit endearing and welcoming in its own way.

Great sandwiches and decent prices, cookies that are huge that they will gladly warm up for you and good customer service. I had the chicken veggie sandwich/sub and it was really great, the large is enough to have for two meals. The bread is the only downside here, I think they need better quality sub rolls. it was a bit airy and not much density or flavor and kinda crumbly. Not sure if it was day old or what, other than that… I loved this place and will be back to try others. The chicken curry salad looked good.

My husband and I love this place. You really can’t go wrong… morning, noon or at night… every meal is down home comfort. Our favs include homemade bread, Reuben, fries, pancakes, home fries, bacon cheeseburger, Mediterranean omelette and all the cakes.

Just had one of those experiences with ordering takeout that makes you feel like there must be a hidden camera recording your reactions. Ordered 6 sandwiches for my family at 5:30 pm. The order arrived at 6:15, but one sandwich was missing(we ordered through ). We called right away and they said a sandwich would be sent. It was a turkey sandwich — not the most complicated meal to put together. At 7:05 we called and were assured the food was on its way. We were assured the same thing at 7:45. Here I sit at 9:15 and it is still not here. When I called at 8:45 they were actually surprised that the food was never delivered and they offered us a free sandwich the next time we come in(should that ever happen). And, it took 10 minutes of roundabout conversation to get that. In addition to the missing sandwich, two other orders had small errors — a minor inconvenience when you consider that one of my kids ended up without the dinner she ordered. Given the«unique» customer service, it may be a while before we claim our free sandwich.

Was looking at local check in offers in the area and thought I’d give it a try. Got a steak and cheese which was a little over $ 10 with tax before the check in deal. Kinda pricey and it was a little too basic. Made me wish i went to Sax’s in EP instead. $ 7.50 there and much better. Guess they can get away with it with all the dorm rooms surrounding them but I can’t say I’ll be back. Staff seemed nice enough. It is BYOB which could be a please if you’re there with friends and have beers.

Emily and Adam’s Rating: 6⁄10. If you’re looking for a quick bite to eat from a menu that offers a little something for everyone, this is your place. Located right in the middle of College Hill, it is fairly convenient but you’re more likely to take out because the ambience is sorely lacking. It’s a small space that is uninviting and lacking in style and décor. That being said, the food is a little better than average but it’s nothing to write home about. However, we’d recommend the Turkey in the Slaw; the hot, fresh turkey topped with the cold, juicy slaw is a mouth-watering combination. The other defining feature of Meeting Street has to be its giant array of soft, chewy cookies. While they’re a little pricey, you’d be hard pressed to find another cookie as good. Prices are fair and the food is fine but, unless you’re in a hurry or are in a real need for brunch, we’d recommend exploring some of the other restaurants that Thayer Street has to offer.

The food here is pretty good(they serve menu basics). I have gripes about this place because sometimes it takes a long time to get your food and also it’s a little overpriced like everything else on Thayer and also the indoor seating isn’t something I enjoy eventhough the location is prime. But the truth is that Meeting Street Café always has good food. I’ve never had a bad meal from here and I have had many bad or underwhelming meals in Providence.

Had breakfast and dinner here. It was good but nothing special. I ordered the French toast combo for breakfast and had spaghetti and meatballs for dinner. Both meals came out quickly and tasted pretty good. It can be a little pricy, costing $ 10+ per meal, but the portions are pretty good so I can’t complain. Also, they have a 10% student discount for brown students if you show them your student id. The ambiance is casual and pretty nice. It’s on the second floor with one wall full of glass windows. They have TVs and a fish tank, and it’s a pretty cute café. However, the seats are pretty close together and there isn’t much leg room. Also, I imagine the store gets chaotic when it’s busy, but I never had to deal with that. One thing I found unique about this place was that you pay for the food when you order it, which I found pretty nice since you can just leave whenever you finish and don’t have to wait for a check. Overall, decent place to eat for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. I’ll definitely be back.

Something about Meeting Street keeps me coming back for more even when I curse them out every other time I go. I’ve had a range of sandwiches from reubens, roast beef, seafood salad, and thanksgiving turkey sandwiches. None are great but plentiful in size. A half sandwich is usually too much for me to finish on my own. Every time I veer away from the breakfast offerings towards sandwiches I leave disappointed. The french toast, sausage patties, and hot chocolate are to die for. I could eat this meal for breakfast every day and be a very happy lady. The egg sandwich and pancakes are also delightful. I strongly recommend the breakfast offerings, especially if you order delivery on a cold Sunday morning.

Love the food but hate the way that it is presented on the delivery end. The food arrived cold. The sandwiches were sloppy. Quicker transit would probably help. It’s only 20 minutes across town, max, not sure why the food looked as if it had been sitting for at least 90.

Meeting Street, a homey little diner perched above Spiritus Fermenti, serves food as massive in heart as it is in size. They’re known for giant cookies the size of your head, and even their half-sandwiches are a feat to finish. Their food is consistently fresh and tasty, and you can tell that it’s cooked with love. They also have some pretty unique menu items such as the Thanksgiving sandwich, curry chicken salad, and kitchen sink cookies. Nevertheless, my favorite entrée here is a classic — spaghetti and meatballs. Their version has sweet, chunky marinara sauce and huge, made– from-scratch meatballs. $ 12 gets you a family-sized portion, basically. I ordered takeout once and it fed me for four straight meals. Meeting Street is great for a sit-down meal too. It has comfy vintage booths and friendly service. Come for a hearty meal with friends or family!

I was first introduced to this place by my sister-in-law who went to Brown. The cookies are amazing, and enormous, as big as a dinner plate. The sandwiches are delicious and also huge, which is why they come in half sizes. Definitely make this a stop for you in Providence. Oh, did I mention they deliver cookies online? Very dangerous for my wallet.

This place has an older feel to it. For the«café» setting, this wasn’t bad. We ordered at the counter, paid, and the food got brought out to us. I went here for lunch with a co-worker, and it was pretty delicious! My friend got the eggs benedict, and I got the Thanksgiving sandwich on rye bread. At first when the gentleman asked if I wanted a full or half, I thought it was going to be on regular bread, so I selected the full with fries($ 2 additional for fries). Boy, was there a lot of food! We were both really satisfied and are looking forward to making this a monthly lunch visit.

This place sucks. Reasons in no particular order: — Chaos — seats are first come first serve regardless of the line. People will cut ahead of you to stalk tables that are dirty to stake claim to it when it’s busy. — Greasy mediocre diner food. — Disappointing dessert. The cakes taste like Dunkin Hines mix. If it isn’t mix, that’s amazing that they somehow made it taste just like Dunkin Hines mix(really, it gives me flashbacks to junior high home economics). The cookies aren’t much better(they’re huge though if volume matters to you more). — Computer chairs. Correction: rickety stained computer chairs that seem to have been designed in 1987. — Service — The service has always been courteous here. However, when chaos happens or the kitchen is in the weeds, orders can get messed up. My last visit, our group counted over 12 tables that were behind us in line that got food before we did b/c the kitchen somehow skipped our ticket. It then took about an hour to get extremely mediocre food. One person in the party had to ask to have his omelette boxed up b/c it took so long the poor guy had to get to his next appointment. Then, the omelette didn’t even get to him in the additional 15 minutes he had before he had to leave. We ended up having to drop off his cold mediocre omelette. I’d give this place the benefit of the doubt that this last experience was exceptionally terrible b/c we went during Brown Family Weekend, however, having to chase down someone 2 – 3 times to get an order that we’ve been waiting over an hour for before hand is unacceptable. Yet another overpriced mediocre choice off Thayer convenient for students who are ok with trading off better tasting food for convenience.

Totally average diner that’s actually slightly overpriced given the quantity and quality of the food that you get. I understand that this place is right in the heart of the Brown campus and that they’re open fairly late, but the food just doesn’t rise up to the occasion, let alone the venue, where you’re squeezed in like sardines. Not bad, but not special.

A fine diner in Providence, it does what it says on the tin. The food and coffee were good– I had soup and sandwich– but the service was relatively slow. That said, it was particularly busy, with one of the university sports teams present, so I won’t take much away for that.

Sometime in life, you can go back to the past. Meeting Street Café hasn’t changed since I graduated HS in 1999, and I couldn’t be happier about it. The décor is firmly entrenched in the 1980’s — and eating there feels like you’re in a Woody Allen film or Depeche Mode video. I can only speak for their vegetarian options — but they are delish! The staff isn’t over the top friendly but they’re also not rude — which I kind of like. Feels like a more private going out experience :) nice picture window. Oh — and those cookies are out of this world.

Driving through from Texas –I know I’m lost huh? ;) — An amazing diner knocking out delicious and large portions of food – the coffee flows from the heavens with an amazing balance — perfect breakfast blend– reminds me when of when I was young and broke — I’d split breakfast with my sister– well at this place we’d both be stuffed– they cut and grill all the veggies fresh that they use in an omelette– the rye toast is totally from a bakery judging on the loaf style cut. Head there now ;) they also have 20% off promo so the coffee is basically on the house– even when it wasn’t busy I noticed that they have tons of to go orders– so the locals are crazy for this place as well apparently. One more thing– they have gigantic cookies– like as big as a dinner plate. Great desert to split between Friends.

So came here and decided to finally try it after hearing g the mix reviews. Have to say I walked away sad and disappointed. First off, to find entrance isn’t the easiest since it’s in the back of the building not really clearly marked. The décor inside is just plain nothing great almost like a daycare design on one wall and office on another. Ordering can take sometime between them answering phones and getting orders ready to go. Food hate to say was just plain tasteless and boring. Went with the spinach floretine Benedict and the sauce just had no taste. Not to mention tomato wasn’t on it like most do nor an English muffin but dried white over toasted bread. Homefries were also cold which was disappointing. Party I was with had a blt and claimed it was good. Seemed to have a decent amount of bacon on it but for the cost could have bought a pound of bacon lol. Overall wasn’t the best of foods and are many more other places nearby were quality will be better.

I don’t know why I always forget about this place! Perhaps out of sight, out of mind? Luckily, I stumbled back upon Meeting Street after going to my local breakfast go-to’s on Easter to find them all closed. Out of mind no more! If you can’t find it on the menu here, it isn’t food. They have a large menu, serve breakfast all day, and are BYOB. You order at a counter and sit down. They’ll bring everything out in a jiffy. The food is consistent and good. It is on the level of diner food, but good for what it is. Their dining room is spacious enough to avoid the college kids if they ain’t yo’ thang. As others have mentioned, the portions are large and enough to share. My beef with my breakfast is that their home fries are not really seasoned enough. But no worries as I never have room to eat them anyway.
