This place is HORRIFIC. Downright scary. RUNAWAY if you have one ounce of integrity. If I could give it zero stars, I would. Went in for a simple consultation that was already costing me $ 100 out of pocket. My regular dentist had done some unnecessary drilling and messed up my bite, and I wanted a second opinion to see how I might go about getting it fixed. Well, «Dr.» Dario gave me his opinion alright, and in an unmistakeably rude and brusque manner. His«professional» opinion, before even looking in my mouth, was that I needed at least 8 X-rays at $ 25 a pop, plus a $ 235CT scan. So right now we’re looking at over $ 500 out-of-pocket for someone on Medicaid, and this was before he even looked in my mouth(I said no to the scans, for the record, which I’m sure he loved). AFTER looking in my mouth and manhandling my teeth, which included roughly wiggling my front teeth to see if they’d come loose(I swear he would have pulled them out if he could have), Dario’s newly-formed opinion was that my back molars were nearly nonexistent nubs, that I’d need multiple new crowns, and that my problems were likely due to grinding my teeth because«women are worriers,» a statement that he backed up by asserting that«men DON’T worry, women worry, women worry ALL the time about everything, and they worry THREE times as much as men do” – and so on and so forth. Wow, Dr. Dario! Those are some pretty strong convictions you’ve got there! Although if I scratch my head long enough, I’m willing to bet you that $ 235 for your CT scan that I know a man or two who worries, even to the point of clenching his teeth.(Crazy, right?) But whatever, Dr. Dario, it’s good to know that misogyny is alive and well in your little jewel of a practice on Waterman St. I’ll let the good women of Rhode Island know where NOT to get their teeth cleaned, that’s for sure. Regardless, none of this had much at all to do with the original problem I was presenting for, but Dario insisted he couldn’t tell me anything more without the hundreds of dollars in X-rays. So I asked Dario if my partner and I could have a moment alone to discuss, a notion that seemed to rub Dario the wrong way. Let me state that even if the X-rays had not been an issue, this man’s horrendously rude, condescending, and sleazy attitude(coupled with his rough handling of my teeth) was enough to send me RUNNING for the exit. But I didn’t make it through the door before Dario could insist that I would«NEED that dental work» and couldn’t escape it; he just had to be right! He also left me with another lovely opinion of his, which was that«for a 27 year old, I have the molars of a 50 year old.» Thanks, man! Maybe next time, Lawrence Dario, you’ll be so lucky as to find an unsuspecting young woman who is willing to put up with your abuse and still line your pockets with cash. Not here, though. Did they tell you all women were stupid, too? Sorry to burst your bubble. Ladies and gentlemen, DONOTGOHERE. There are far more qualified, caring, and compassionate clinicians out there that will NOT treat you like crap and compromise your dental care for a quick buck. Dr. Dario should be ashamed of how he treats his patients, first-time or otherwise, and I will make sure to let others know about my horrible experience here.
