My washer recently broke, so off to the laundromat I went. On the recommendation of my neighbor, I visited Laundromax. Never having been to a laundromat before, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. Below is a summary of my observations: Pros: 1. Ease of parking 2. Wasn’t crowded 3. Free dryers Cons: 1. Parking lot not well lit. 2. Facility is not in greatest area of city. 3. Cash only operation — they do use electronic laundry cards, but you must have exactly $ 5 to initially purchase card. Card is loaded with $ 3, so it costs $ 2. They do have a bill breaker machine if you don’t have the exact amount. 4. Many broken machines each time I visited. 5. Not very clean.

I used to come here once a week, after I worked 3 rd shift. I didn’t matter what time I came they are always packed. But I have to say that is a good thing. It isn’t in the best of areas, the crowd that hangs out and doesn’t do laundry isn’t the best crowd to be around. The parking is minimal and can be difficult. Random people will also ask you for money, this has happened to me at least 5 times. However, it is very clean, the cleanest Laundromat that I’ve been in. The people that work there are friendly, they will look out for you and assist you. They are always cleaning hence why they are so clean. Of course, the laundry is expensive. It would cost me about $ 40 to do an entire month’s load of laundry, and I’m talking, sheets, towels, blankets galore. As well as a giant load of whites and darks. They have huge washers, the bigger the washer the more it costs. However the dryers only come in one size. The dryers are the tricky part, some people will literally put one thing in them in order to wait for their stuff to be done washing… oh and the dryers are free, but you have to wash there to dry there. They are open from 4 am to 1 am daily, who knows what they do in that 3 hour period they are closed. The place also smells like fried chicken and Chinese food because they are right between a fried chicken and Chinese food place… go figure. Luckily I live in a complex that has their own washer/dryer so I don’t have to stress about going to a laundromat any more, but If I did need to go again I would go here. Oh yeah and you don’t use quarters anymore to do laundry, it is all on a card now, and it only takes large bills, so don’t bring your dollars!
