I’ve been a fan of the Flames on Blue hill & Dorchester and I’m so happy there’s one here in prov! The food is delicious & I’m never disappointed. The staff is very friendly and the portions are huge! I’ve love their red snapper, curry goat & oxtails! I could eat here everyday, I would love to try there breakfast. Finally good Jamaican food in RI!

Been back a few more times since my first review and let me just say I love everything about them! The rice and peas are actually really good now contrary to my first review. I always get good service(they joke around and are just so friendly) and the food is sooooo good. The portions are pretty big on the small plates(which I usually get). The restaurant is clean and although there are always a good amount of people in there, service is fast(not rushed). I would give them 10 stars if I could just for the oxtail and I’m picky with my food. Although it seems like a «fast food» spot, the food has always been fresh which I believe is because of their constant business. I’m pretty much going to be a regular since they never let me down.

Delicious food and excellent customer service! I wish I could give double the stars! Love this place. This place has to be the only place I’ve eaten at that is always consistent! I’ve been here a numerous of times and the food has always been on point. Not sure if the Flames on Blue Hill Ave in Boston have the same owners, but their food is nothing compared to the one in Providence!!! I could seriously eat here every day and never get sick of it lol

I’m somewhat of a skeptic when trying new things. Food is rarely one of them. On my weekly commute I kept passing by this new place across from Wendy’s and I also heard their commercial on our local radio station. that was it, this place was calling me. I walked into this vibrant restaurant and was greeted by the wonderful scent of something magical. i look over the counter and saw an array of food and my favorite Jamaican patties. :) I already knew what I wanted because again, i studied the menu before making my way there. I ordered a to go plate with rice and red beans, cabbage and sweet and spicy wings with a side of imported Jamaican crème soda. the lovely girl with her Jamaican accent helped me out, and fox cashed me out. i love ordering food from people with great attitudes because maybe i mentally think it tastes better.(and makes for a long time client.) anyway the place was fairly busy bud not too overwhelming. anyway, i couldn’t wait to get home, the rice was SO good, i think it has some coconut milk in it. Savory with a hint of sweetness. cooked to perfection. and the wings? OMG! outta this world. They were crispy and full over saucy goodness. i can really say i enjoyed every bit of my meal from Flames. i’m happy they made a home in Providence.

I so much wanted to love this restaurant! I’ve been to the one in Boston a few times and was impressed. Not so much this visit… Being of Caribbean descent(Trinidad), I had high expectations especially, since they were new business here in Providence. I might have just hit them on a bad day but for two small plates and a $ 20 price tag is a bit much to throw the majority of the food away. Here are the problems I encountered: 1. They only have four real parking spots and I believe the employees took up two of them. The other two in front are handicap but aren’t clearly marked. There’s just to sign in between the two spots. Confusing. 2. The wait was exceptionally long especially since it was 12 noon, lunch hour, seeing that they would have a faster streamlined process for those on a lunch break. There was only one person serving and the line was out the door. Eventually the second person came on to help but that«eventually» took a long time. 3. THEFOOD:(this breaks my heart to have to report this). The mac & cheese, which was an extra cost for a side, was definitely processed and flavorless with an incredible amount of cheese thrown on top. It wasn’t even your best boxed Mac & cheese, like Kraft. The rice and peas were overcooked and sticky. The shape of the rice was almost unrecognizable. And could have definitely used a lot more flavor. The fried plantains that came with the meal were dry,(overcooked or old) and tasteless and had no hint of sweetness. The cabbage was undercooked, Way too crunchy and maybe on the raw side and could have used a bit more seasoning. I had both the jerk wings and the sweet chili wings. And they were both incredibly hot but had no true Caribbean character. I could not even enjoy them and I’m not one of those who can’t take that«heat» because believe me I can. I’m very used to it and enjoy it. I am willing to give them another chance but probably not anytime soon. I was so disappointed.

Finally providence got some authentic jamaican food!!! … Eveything is delicious, the oxtails, the rice and peas, the sticky chicken is all flavorable and cooked just right. Flames is all over boston so im happy to see they came to Rhode Island because business will be booming for them. The only sucky part is the parking theres not a lot of space other than that I have no complaints. The staff is friendly, the restaurant is clean, and the food is amazing.
