This was the perfect cozy spot for the chilly January night and the first Elite event of 2013 The drinks were yummy — of course they would be with Jen of Cook & Brown manning the bar. The apps were varied and different from the norm. I especially liked the 2 sandwich options and the deviled eggs. Thanks to Hilary for introducing me to a new bar that is just what I love. Cozy, unique, and chill.

Oh, the first elite event of the year! What a joyous occasion. I arrived a bit early, but was met whole hardheartedly by our fabulous host of the evening: Ms. HHH. I put my parka away, removed the icicles from my nose, and sat down to warm up in the cute and cozy establishment that I had been dying to check out. The drink menu featured three fantastic cocktails, each unique takes on a classic. I enjoy the vodka gimlet the most, which was made with sage vodka. It was pretty tasty, which is a lot coming from a girl that doesn’t venture out in to the cocktail realm much(very much a beer drinker at heart). The snacks of the evening included the Eddy’s take on grilled cheese, with onion jam, a tangy mustard and ooey gooey cheddar. The pretzels were amazing and the candied nuts were the perfect cocktail and beer guzzling companions. I enjoyed the broccoli and pesto and ham paninis as well. I had a blast enjoying this new bar in Downcity, with it’s dim lighting, brick interior walls, and even the modern bathroom! It was fun catching up with friends that I hadn’t see since the Merry Marketplace or the Hope club events. I ate, I drank, I laughed and it appeared that everyone had a ball. Thanks go out to the Eddy and to Jen for making some awesome snacks and sincerely delish cocktails, to Hilary for being the host with the most and being as lovely as ever, and to Brad for capturing the moments of our first elite event of ’13. I can’t wait to return to the Eddy to try out that beer menu(they have my fave Revival Dry Irish Stout on nitro!).

Tis a freezing 14 degree Fahrenheit night, but that didn’t stop this event from being the hot spot to start off a New Unilocal Elite Year! As always I come with no expectations but leave having a blast of a time meeting previous Unilocalers, new Unilocalers, and enjoying the ambiance that was offered. Of course the free drinks and food was the icing on the cake :) Getting past the difficulty of finding any free parking around 6:30 pm in downtown Providence, I lucked out and ninja’ed my way as someone was leaving. The walk to Eddy’s took less than 2 minutes and once inside the cold air from outside became a faint memory due to the warm and welcoming area inside. There was a large bar area in the center with a few tables. Definitely a nice hang out spot even if it is a little small. The drinks tonight were superb though I was only able to sample the Whiskey Sour and Cucumber. The bartender was the same who put up with the influx of Unilocalers from The Hope Club and the spirits for the mixes were from the distillery, Sons of Liberty. I don’t know why but no matter what I’m able to leave full despite having only mini samples of delicious food. All in all, great first Unilocal event of 2013 and it gives me motivation to continue Unilocaling for the months to come!
