Don Miguel Mexican Restaurant

Horrible.
First experience, they overcharged my credit card.
Second experience, I ordered a fish taco and got fish with a tortilla only. Called to tell them that they didn’t give me the correct order and the so called manager argued with me.
Advice: Have someone who speaks better English take the orders please.
Not Going Back or ordering carryout, so think before you call in an order or go there. If you do go, check your credit card receipt before you leave.

We drive 40 minutes to come eat at this place on a pretty regular basis. This place is the best Mexican food you will find on the east coast. Fast, fresh and affordable. Get some Don Miguel’s!

Great food! NOT GREASY!!! Handmade Guacamole is to die for. Servers are so friendly and fast! I have never been disappointed and we go about once a week! Can’t get enough of this place!

The Don Miguel restaurant is by far one of my favorites in the area. The staff is friendly and the food is great. Their menu is huge, too big probably, but there’s something for everyone. They give you big helpings and the free complimentary chips and yogurt sauce is pretty good too. The only down side is the place gets jam packed. It fills up fast on the weekends. We go pretty often.

Food tasty & moderately priced. You can save more money with specials or coupons. Friendly staff. I recommend chicken fajitas.

Nice service, good food, decent prices. Loved the fresh tasting chips with salsa and the vegetarian fajita plate! Definitely one of the better Mexican restaurants in the area.

The food here was just okay. I feel like my mixed drink was mainly the mix not alcohol. The food was very bland. The salsa wad to spicy for my liking. I got fried ice-​cream and they put coconut as the costing around ice cream which I didn’t care for. So I will not return here for Mexican food.

Love this place! Delicious food and great service. Been a few times and always had a great experience. The burrito was so big you could make 3 meals out of it!

I’m from Southern California, and I’ve lived in Virginia for a year. I have to say this is the closest I’ve felt to home in a long time. The food here is awesome and the portions are unreal. The service is quick, helpful, and absolutely polite. I love this place. Not to mention the margaritas are perfect! Not too strong, not too weak. A great balance between the two that I haven’t had in a very long time. I may live a half hour away, but that won’t stop me from coming back. Probably at least three times a month. Calle an addict, but this is some awesome service, food, and drinks.

This is hands down the best Mexican food I’ve had in a really long time! I ordered the chile verde and it was amazing. They make it with tomatillos which gave it a great flavor. I will go out of my way to go to this restaurant as much as possible.

Fantastic! I am big Mexican food fan and this is some of the best I’ve had in Virginia. The menu is big, I recommend the House Special. Loved the cactus!

Don Miguel’s is one of very few restaurants in the area and we eat here regularly. I would say 99% of the time, the food is great. Only once did I get over-​salted carne asada The portions are very generous for the price; much more than you get in any Richmond mexican place. The salsa is not to hot and not too tomato-​y. Service is polite and speedy. Will keep this at the top of the list.

Yum! I was alittle skeptic because of the BLAZING tacky orange building, but I had heard good reviews and recommendations so I figured if give it a try. A coupon of buy one get one in the valpak also helped. I will tell you, I was impressed with the food and service. I didn’t get anything fancy, just a lunch combo (taco, enchilada, rice, and beans) and it was more than enough for a sitting. The taco wasn’t excessively dripping with grease, which is always a plus. I will definitely be coming back and would recommend It to friends and family.

This is my first time leaving a review with Unilocal,but I was so pleased with Don Miguel’s that I wanted to share. We came for lunch at about 3pm — when most restaurants are closed or shorter staffed, prepping for the dinner rush, so it’s usually blah service and not much ambience. Not here! They are new, but they were busier than normal for the time, and they were well staffed. The staff was extremely friendly and efficient. Our drinks stayed full, chips and salsa refilled, and when we put our orders in, the food came out fast and hot. I LOVE Mexican food (not sure if that’s the correct term for a foodie to use!), so it takes a lot for me to be extra impressed. I ordered the vegetarian fajitas and received a huge skillet of perfectly seasoned fresh veggies plus the fixins — the rice and beans were pretty average, but their pico de gallo and veggies were outstanding. I have plenty of leftovers for lunch tomorrow! My husband got the enchilada verdes and also loved them. The atmosphere is family friendly, open, and comfy, plus they’re very reasonably priced. Can’t wait to come again!
