We were there about 25 minutes before they were due to open & were getting ready to head elsewhere when Leo came up & said he would open for us. We were kind of spoiled because he’s the sales director, not his usual gig to pour tastings. When he found out we love seeing barrel rooms he took us behind the scenes, where we got some great photos. We’re heading home with a case of port, cab sauv, The Dance, and some Viognier, plus some excellent memories.

Andy and his wonderful co-worker(sorry we forgot your name… lol) greeted us right on time for our private tour. The entrance was designed with Halloween decorations. We felt very welcomed and treated like we were part of the family. We jumped right into the tasting, showing us the facility and provided very educational experience throughout. We then taste a lot wines out of the barrel, from Syrah to CS and Malbec. They listened to us and catered to our taste and opened the wines that we liked. Got to siphoned out wines from the barrels. We then continue up to the foyer and talked more about wine and Kestrel. We loved every minute of it and are planning to come back on Memorial weekend. Thank you team Kestrel! #Kestrel

Continuously great wines. My favorite stop in Prosser. A summer day drinking rose or viognier in the«Grotto» can’t be beat.

This is one of the best places in Prosser for wine. If you’re a legimate, great, wine drinker, you have to go here.

Skip this winery — rude girls behind the counter in bad makeup. Know nothing about wine… the guy at the cheese counter is the best thing that ever happened to them and they have him giving out cheese samples.

My grandparents and I had a really nice tasting here. I have been to the one in Woodinville about a year or so back and definitely wanted to check out the Prosser location. One of the younger guys that was working in the tasting room really knew his stuff. He was an enology student and doing his internship there. We really liked quite a few for their wines. I liked the Lady in red and thought the white blend, Lady in White were very good. I decided that I would hold off on buying wine since I know I can get it close to home. I would definitely recommend stopping in here. They also offer some cheese and sampling plates if you are in need of some food. Their prices are a good selection so everyone can find something, most I think are in the 18 – 25 range.

The tasting staff had a very impatient attitude which changes as soon as they are sure you are buying something.

We came here as part of spring barrel 2013, and even though some people had mentioned don’t go there, they are a bit snobby, we decided to try it out for ourselves. Well, we discovered they are snobby here. It was busy, but even as we found a place to squeeze in at the bar it took a while before someone acknowledged us. And even when they did they just started pouring wine in our glasses, no explanation. They were apparently only tasting 3 wines for spring barrel but had a bunch others open behind the bar. However, when one of our group asked about some of those they said those weren’t for us. What does that mean? With such weird service I didn’t even try to learn more about the wine or enjoy it. Even if their wine is good their service needs to be much better.

My husband & I went to the tasting room because it was recommended to us. The wine tastings cost $ 5(refundable if you purchase a bottle of wine). The short, older woman behind the counter must have been tired or something because she was not very friendly. She then poured so little wine that it was laughable. You couldn’t even tell what you were tasting. I can somewhat understand pouring a smaller amount of wine if it was free but it wasn’t. I can’t even state if the wine was any good because I didn’t get enough of a taste. There are too many other great wineries right within walking distance to bother with this one. I would have left but my husband was hungry so he ordered the cheese plate which was good(which is why I gave 2 stars).

2.5 stars. My aunt lurves their reds, which is why we made a special stop here on our family reunion/wine tour. I did a tasting separate from the main group when they were quieter, and yet the tasting room server(the older lady, very short) was brusque, to the point of being rude. My mom asked about their chardonnays(it’s her exclusive favorite) and the response was that they didn’t have a bottle open today. No offer to describe the tasting notes or otherwise gauge our level of interest. I totally respect the policy to restrict what they open, but it’s foolish to be so off-putting — when someone specifically asks about a wine, they are much more likely to purchase a bottle than the average taster who waltzes in. I also asked about the syrah, same response. Generally she just made us feel like she didn’t want us in there, even after purchasing a bottle of their port — which is fairly sweet but has good red character. I much preferred our visit to Alexandria Nicole a few doors down — which has some stellar reds if you like depth and spice in your reds — where they were relaxed, welcoming, and generally just the kind of people you want to have a conversation with.

This place is beautiful, there is a lot of greenery and I like the woodwork as well — they have a good selection of cheese and wine, and the flavored salts were interesting. The woman who served us was rather rude — and seemed to assume I knew nothing about tasting wine. It was nice that she brought out a few tastings of cheese to taste the difference in the wines, but each time she brought out another sample of cheese she would say«wine first, then cheese». I got it the first time and definitely the second time. She was knowledgeable about the grapes and the wine, but just seemed like she would explain it but not really want to be there talking about it with us. Some of the wines were ok, but they weren’t exactly great. My favorite was their late harvest riesling, we both liked the ice wine, but it’s like drinking candy! We ended up buying their white table wine called Platinum which runs for $ 11, so it was only a buck more than purchasing only the tasting — that was about the nicest thing they lady did for us. Will update once we try it out.

The wine was very good. They also sell flavored salts which are delicious and various cheeses. I would recommend heading to both Kestrel and Alexandria Nicole in this area of Prosser.

Kestrel’s server was nice and knowledgeable and stayed open a little late for us. The wines range from good to great, but are pretty expensive, especially the Port-style. Not wild about the industrial park/strip mall setting.

Fun wines with a wide range of styles that I found quite enjoyable– from Ice Wine to great reds. They also feature a cheese counter and private tasting rooms.

We are treated with hospitality when we go to Kestrel’s tasting room, and always walk out with a handful of wine. During this visit, we tried their pure platinum(a viognier/gewurz blend), Rose’, Lady in Red(which they’re fairly well known for), chardonnay, merlot and syrah. Their ’06 merlot was incredibly silky smooth and we walked out with a few bottles. The syrah that we tried was also very flavorful… a deep, dark fruit flavor with a bit of pepper in the finish. Kestrel is always one of our go-to’s when we’re in Yakima Valley.
