I wanted to give this a good review because Dan is a friendly guy and the reviews on Unilocal are good and what led me there — but I was really disappointed with my experience. I went there and very clearly specifically said I wanted alot of layers. He did the cut, and when he was done he didn’t give me the mirror to look at the back — I went home and there were absolutely no layers! For $ 125 I was really disappointed to get just a straight, easy cut that could have been done anywhere when I was so clear that I wanted alot of layers. I exchanged a couple emails with him explaining that I would like a redo cut, and he never ended up scheduling something for me. Very disappointing experience.

I would recommend your salon to anyone in a heartbeat! I was so impressed that we only had 1 hour as my hair and makeup trial appointment as I’m not from NJ, and both of you had such creativity and attention to detail that just made my vision come to live! This salon is absolutely a GEM. After my experience here, I can say Daniel and his staff are really the BEST. From my initial call and speaking with a very kind receptionist to schedule a very last minute appt, to having a lime/​lemon ice water upon arrival, with no waiting time when I arrived, to having a very thorough consultation with Dan to the STUNNING color results … I was so pleased with the «5 star service» this salon provides. Down to the detail. After more than a year of searching I have found my local salon!!!

I’ve been coming here for many years. Dan does a wonderful job with both color and cut. Also, everyone at the salon is so friendly and helpful! The salon has a chic, NY feel, but not the arrogance. If you’re looking for top notch salon, give Daniel Smits a call.

This is a great salon. I have been coming here for several years, since I tracked down my hairstylist (who moved here from another top Princeton salon). Everyone is very friendly and warm, and the place is immaculate. The quality of the cut and color is what you would expect from a salon in Princeton — excellent. Don’t let the strip mall location daunt you — in NJ, everything is in a strip mall!

I have been with Daniel Smits salon for 3 years now and I absolutely love everything about it. Even moving from state to state will not let me change my hair stylist. Living in New York and having so many places to choose from, I am still loyal to Daniel and happily drive to Princeton to get not only a new hair style but always a great experience.
I am not sure how others are, but I am extremely picky with hair stylists, so picky, I rather not go anywhere for months (which does not look good on my hair) rather then going to just anyone. I only have three stylists who dealt with my hair before, one of them back in my motherland, I lost touch with the second one, but she introduced me to Daniel who I hope I will never have to switch from.
I truly believe that Dan is the best, very personable, full of new ideas and styles. I trust him completely and always have a great experience. Every time I walk out of Daniel Smits Salon and for the next month I feel beautiful, I can not thank him enough for the great work he does.

Daniel Smits Salon is my favorite! I don’t go anywhere else. The décor is simple, clean, and hip. The staff is friendly and helpful. And most importantly, Dan is the best. I don’t trust anyone else with my difficult hair. I highly recommend it!
