Deli meat isn’t the best, nor is the service, or the drunks at noon, but darnit if they don’t have AMAZING, GIGANTIC and superb clam strips! Step aside Beach to Bay who I’m pretty sure uses clam strips from Sysco(judging from the size and poor quality) but Spikes has the whopper of all clam strips, and despite the size, they’re still oh so tender! And the broccoli bites, yeah they beat anywhere else around; Caesar’s, Lombardi’s, Goin Nuts, anywhere.

This is the sort of place that you go to as a compromise. The subs are just ok, in terms of quality of meats, but they are generous with their portions. The bread and condiments are typical sub quality. A large dagwood sub is $ 8 and more than enough for two adults. So, if you are looking for a sub that is better than Subway, but not as good as Primo Hoagies, this is the place to go. It’s also worth a stop if you are in Princess Anne area and don’t feel like driving out of town(say, to the Primo Hoagie in south Salisbury). The place is a bar and as divey as a place named«Spikes» sounds. Not really for the family as an eat-in(in fact, they don’t allow under-21 after 8pm). There are pool tables and other typical dive-bar stuff.

Food’s pretty decent, but the service and ambiance is pretty bad. Its dark, drab, depressing, and that’s just the décor which ironically matches the personality of the workers. But it’s not all a loss. The clam strips are great. Best in the area.
