The PG farmers market is really small town at it’s best. It is opened seasonally so you have to check the county website in the springe and fall, especially later months. But it has some of the BEST local produce you can get for super cheap pricing. The produce is of course seasonal also. For instance yesterday I picked up sweet potatoes, pumpkin squash and cucumbers. There are no meat or eggs yet but I believe they are working on that. There are also local vendors with unique handmade crafts, jewelry or local small businesses advertising. It’s a great way to get to know the community if you are new to the area. We have a lot of people move in and out because of Fort Lee. You do need cash to pay although I did see one vendor using an iPad to take credit cards. If you decide to go make sure you take cash though. It’s still a small town.

This is about as good as it’s going to get for a small-town farmer’s market. I love that my hometown is doing this. I love that it’s still in that somewhat awkward beginning stage of «how does this work?»(or maybe, that’s just me…). I love that the vendors are quick to point you to another vendor if they’re out of something or aren’t carrying something that day. Easy to find, super cheap prices. The big drawback is that you can’t get eggs or any meat products… yet. Excited to see how this market grows in the future!
