My family has been doing CSA for a few years now with both my children, and I can easily say that this year has been the most disappointing. I say this for several reasons. The first one being the condition of the fields that we constantly played on. The HPP fields 16(A and B) were rubbish. They were not maintained in a very good fashion. They were covered with grass clumps and were almost never mowed prior to the weekend events. Shouldn’t we try and give the kids de the best possible fields to play on? Secondly, we had a game this year without a referee. Don’t know what happened, but parents ref’ed the game until about midway through the second half before a real ref showed up. But the thing that really showed a lack of concern for the teams, was in the tournament. This was just plain sad!!! The field we normally play on was the U9 field 16B. For some reason, when we got there for the tournament, both 16A and 16B were gone, and a single field spanning BOTH fields had been set up. Why would we go from a smaller field to a field for the bigger kids without any notification??? It was almost twice the size, and our girls were not prepared to play in that much space. Also, the«new» field had been refined in red paint, but had not been cut. It was a disaster of a field. Areas of almost dirt with large areas of tall clumpy grass that were even worse than the normal cruddy conditions for that area. There should not have been anyone playing that field! You can relive it but not cut it??? That shows a lack of real concern in my book. The teams and coaches were great, but nobody wants to play on junk fields or without a real ref. after years of playing CSA, I doubt my kids will play again if that’s how the league is going to run the conditions. The wile season has been a very unfortunate mess!
