The food is good, but a little pricey. We had the Teppan dinner and the cooking method was fun to watch, as this is what the higher prices pay for. If you go in a group of 6 or more, they will charge at least 18% more on the bill. The need higher chairs for the tables.

First time at the new location and was impressed. First, the location is very inviting and built out in a modern style with a lot of care and detail… probably one of the classier restaurant atmospheres in Prescott. One of their problems at the previous location was service… there was only one or two staffers running the whole place so service was haphazard and slow. They have a very large staff now and service was friendly and efficient. We only had sushi but it was well made and delicious. Not the best sushi I’ve ever had, but quite impressive for a smaller town a mile above sea level. The teppanyaki room looks great and we’ll give it a try next time.

A better than average Japanese in Prescott. Warm and welcoming staff, well prepared food with fresh ingredients. Love the sushi platter, you can ask for your own selection, and all the rolls are tasty. Teriyaki is really good, moist and not too sweet. The best sushi place in North AZ. Also the hibachi tables are fun with a group. Good too.

We just had a wonderful meal! We are a vegan /vegetarian family and were so happy with the menu at Esoji! They have a veggie sushi platter that is amazing! We also had the veggie tempura and veggie goyza! It was all wonderful! Our server, Misa, was amazing. She was helpful and kind. One of our little boys doesn’t do sushi, so she helped us order him some steamed broccoli and rice with teriyaki sauce, which he loved. We have had a terrible experience with the other sushi joint in town and are so happy to have found this gem!

I loved Escoji when it was located in downtown Prescott right by the square because it was easy to get to. We often stopped in during our day out for lunch. The restaurant is a lot bigger now with a teppayaki option. I’ve been here once for dinner. The price is not cheap but it’s reasonable for the quantity & quality of sushi that you receive. I had ordered the sashimi platter, when it came, it was beautifully presented & enough for more than 2 people. We shared it with 3 people in addition to having some other items. The dinner was enjoyable. I have to write though while the interior is clean, it can be a bit too brightly lit & a little stark. I was there when they first opened so I don’t know if they’ve made improvements since then. Of course, I wish they were located closer & more centrally located so I can go more frequently!

TOOBIGFORTHEIRKIMONOS! If you sit at the sushi bar you are good to go, but God forbid you want Tepan tonight. You might as well drive to Benihanas in Phoenix. We tried tepanyaki twice. The first time we waited over 30 minutes for the chef and this time an hour and a half just for the chef to come cook. The other family at the table was smart and left after an hour. We were talked into staying and the food was mediocre at best. I hope someone who has a clue how to run a Japanese restaurant & or knows how to time their tables gets hired on or takes over as we could really use a great Japanese restaurant in Prescott.

This is the first time I’ve been to the new Esoji. My party and I did the hibachi grill and our chef was great. However I don’t know if they were just super understaffed but our orders were taken and we waited 15 minutes at the grill and no salads or soup came out. It wasn’t until we were done eating the food from the chef that we got refills, soup, and salad. On of the people in my party did not get her sushi roll until much after we finished. Timing for food was completely off and it was a dampening on our evening. They did try go make it up to her with ice cream…

Yum Yum! The Tempura was absolutely to die for. I had the Tempura veggies. The Tempura fish dinner my husband had(shrimp, scallops, salmon and other fish) was wonderful, served with rice. Teriyaki sauce and even a not too spicy sauce was served with dinner and delighted my tummy. Sushi was excellent. Our friend had the steak and said it was equally as delicious. Never ending soda. Great atmosphere with wide aisles making it easy for folks in wheelchairs. Hosts and hostesses were friendly and always there ready to please. Prices were good considering the enormous amount of food you received. They even have the big round cooker where you can watch the chef put on a show. Our compliments to the chef and everyone there. I will definitely return. It is now OUR favorite restaurant in the area.

We went there on a Friday night. Had fairly good service. The waitress was attentive. Seated right away with reservation for 4 in a booth. They did a great job renovating the interior from previous restaurant failures. However is so so BRIGHT! they needed to dim down the lights a bit! It’s like a hospital operating room! Most of the food we had had very nice presentation. The tempura artfully placed, sushi was beautifully crafted. On the down side their«specialty» oriental chicken recommended by the waitress was a bunch of chicken pieces in sauce served next to a pile of rice. Not impressed, average. EXPENSIVEINTHEEND! ok, I had two glasses of wine and the guys had two beer each along with appetizers. But 250 dollars(including average tip) was not worth it. May try Teppan yaki next time, then again maybe not … will check the price. Better value for the quality at other places. Disappointed cuz of the price. Have had Barrett Japanese. Not likely to be a regular

We’ve been going here since they were in town and they have always treated us like family. My daughter has grown up eating their sushi and they love making her feel comfortable trying new things. The owner is awesome and always stops to say hi and he makes us something special which is always amazing and means a lot to us. Please support them in their new location as we hope they’re around for a long long time. And hoping they get their liquor license soon as a Sapporo with sushi is mmmmm good!

Went there the other night with my Fiancée. Had a great time with the Teppan Yaki. Chef was very comical, food was delicious. My only gripe is that the price is a little high. Other than that, everything was excellent!

Esoji is a totally delicious restaurant. My father and I go as often as we can and always find the food and the service to be excellent. The new location is pretty far from downtown which is a bummer but it’s really nice and clean inside. Awesome sushi!

We are here right now, the four of us. We were seated and ignored for fifteen minutes. Then our waiter approached and asked in a surly manner if we were ready to order. This was a nice experience when it was on Gurley, but the service is abysmal and it’s not worth waiting to be treated with no respect or gratitude for patronage.

I took my wife here for the Teppan Yaki show and it was awesome! Fantastic food and one great show! We will certainly go again!

Went to the new location for teppan dinner; note that this review is ONLY for our teppan experience. We were seated quickly but then waited over 30 minutes for a chef to start our meal… we were moments from leaving when the chef finally arrived. The restaurant was not busy so we could not understand the delay. Dinner was mediocre — chicken was okay, tofu was not good(undercooked and cold in the middle). No liquor license yet. Service needs improvement. We waited about 2 months since the new location opened and hoped everything would be in good order… they still need a lot of improvement.

Have been to new location twice. The inside is nicely decorated. My sushi eating friends report the sushi is OK, heavy on the rice. However, service is quite slow and unorganized. Sat at the sushi bar and watched as my chicken dish sat in the window for nearly 15 minutes getting cold. Many servers walked up to, looked at it and just STOOD there. They would not bother to seek my server or to walk the 10 feet to bring it to me. Very poor service. Finally, the waitress saw it and brought it over. Cold and gummy. I sent it back and asked for removal from the bill. They did not remove the entire charge! They charged me 30% of the total price for the small salad and small cup of soup I ate that was part of my meal. The appetizer we ordered made its way out after all other food was finished. They need a food runner or expo person. Not impressed, very sad but seems to be typical for Prescott. Too bad, they will miss out on my future business.

Waited an hour and a half for dinner, never saw our appetizer in that time. Finally left and went next door.

This has got to be one of the worst service experiences I have had in Prescott. The restaurant was very cold and lacked any personality. Although clean, there was a very sterile feel to the area. Outside was a different story… There is overgrown weeds taking over the walk way and porch, as well as a couple different water hoses that were strung out haphazardly on the sidewalk. In efforts to maybe sustain their business they opened prematurely, the tepan grill is not yet open and there is no liquor licence. This could be well overlooked if the staff was trained better. It took 15 minutes after being sat to receive our drinks. Food for my husband came out way later than when mine was served. The sushi rolls we ordered were very basic– Vegas and shrimp tempura, however were good. My husband added a chicken teriyaki plate, which was overly dry and too salty. After both of us stared at the plate for about 15 minutes our server finally asked how it was. He took 70% off the chicken teriyaki plate, however empathy would of gone a long way and maybe more attention from him. We saw way more of the nervous host who kept our drinks refilled than we did our actual server. I can’t say that we will be back anytime soon. Overall just an awkward experience.

Well. I have been to the old location and wasn’t very impressed. After hearing about the new location, my wife and I decided to come for dinner. It is still under construction, so there are some things lacking. There isn’t a waiting area yet, so patrons have to stand in the hallway while waiting to be seated. Everything is new and clean, which is a plus. We ordered calamari, which was ok. The sauce was good. Then we ordered salmon and yellowtail nigiri which was ok as well. We tried the rouge roll, gecko roll, and the sunburst roll. The gecko was my favorite. The rouge was ok, and the sunburst wasn’t so great… The topping of spicy tuna was almost puréed, giving it a mushy texture. We finished with baked green mussels which could have done without the sweet sauce. The service needs some work but all employees were very polite. Even the owner came over and asked us how things were. We asked that our food not be delivered all at once so that we could enjoy it leisurely. Well. After the nigiri, all the rolls came within 2 minutes. I think they just need some fine tuning and this could be an outstanding establishment. A OK.

New location on Iron Springs just opened. Sushi still great, service needs improvement. Restaurant is spacious but lacks warmth and character. Salmon sashimi and soft shell crab spider roll well presented and full of flavor. Service at sushi bar poor. Had to ask for ice for weak ice tea and had to ask for more tea. No liquor license yet. Newly occupied old restaurant and noticed cut in vinyl chair. Now go for the food.
