This place has made a HUGE impact on our little boy and our whole family. Sifu Rick is extremely skilled, but even more important to the kiddos, he’s irresistibly engaging. Students tune in to him immediately and hang on his every word. And really, they couldn’t have a better role model (outside of the family). As parents, it’s been invaluable to watch and learn how to teach discipline. Note I didn’t say how to discipline, but how to TEACH discipline. That alone has changed the way we communicate, share responsibilities, set expectations, and discipline when it’s called for. Sifu is forceful and clear, yet kind and funny. He also does a «powerful words» program which has given our son the vocabulary and practice of words like «perserverance,» «teamwork,» and «integrity.» One aspect of his curriculum I especially appreciate is the safety and stranger danger talk. It’s never scary, but always really practical. Kids know EXACTLY how to protect themselves, with both words and actions. Added to the weekday classes are monthly «Parent’s Night Out,» Holiday events, and quarterly «Belt ceremonies.» We hope to be a part of this Kung Fu community for a long time!
