We love this place. Uncle Mick and his staff are really friendly. When we go we feel like we are just visiting family we haven’t seen in a while. The food is great! Try the shrimp a la crème. They will fill you up with samples before you ever order.

Flavorful but not very spicy food! Omg! Thank you Unilocal.I was going to have a burger at the hotel/resort for $ 13 but looking at Unilocal compelled me to dive 15 minutes to this hidden gem in this town. Uncle Mick embodies southern hospitality, personally giving me a sample of every item on his menu to help me decide which one of his amazing dishes to order and they were all good! I ended up with crawfish etoufee, seafood gumbo, alligator & sausage piquante with a side corn maque choux and black eyed peas. He even gave me a bowl of delicious dirty rice and bread pudding with bourbon to try! For $ 15 you can’t go wr

I almost always leave negative reviews… not because I’m disgruntled & bitter, but because the service in Montgomery & Prattville is always so bad… it’s practically an epidemic. Uncle Micks was a pleasant surprise… and a welcome change. It was recommended by a friend… otherwise, I probably wouldn’t even know this place existed. Food was PHENOMENAL. Best cajun food I’ve had sincey last trip to New Orleans. They keep it simple… nothing fancy… because the food speaks for itself. Take a risk… it’s worth it. This place shouldn’t be missed. Thank you!

First off, I may be biased in writing this review, originally being from south Louisiana and knowing what real Cajun food is but, this is my opinion and I’m sticking to it. Uncle Mick and the other girl behind the counter were really nice. The hospitality was as you should expect for Cajun food country or anywhere in the south for that matter. The atmosphere, no doubt, was nice. It had that Lousiane feel. The food: I really wanted to like it. I’m here for work and have had a hard time finding many good ‘local’ places; just a whole bunch of chain places. So when I read there was a great, authentic Cajun place, I was excited. I had crab augratin, chicken and sausage gumbo, green beans and red beans and rice. To me, it was all very bland. The crab Augratin had a great cheese taste, because that’s all I could taste; no salt pepper or the like. Green beans tasted like they came straight out a Jolly Green Giant can. The red beans and rice did have a good smoke taste but, were missing any kind of spice, even salt or pepper, much less Slap Ya Mamma or similar. On the bright side, I’m a pecan pie expert and did get a piece of Uncle Mick’s. The piece was tiny which was disappointing but, possibly the best piece of gooey, runny pecan pie I’ve ever had. They nailed it! I’ll give Uncle Mick’s another shot and hope to be much more pleased next time. To some it up, if you’ve ever been to a Picadilly in LA or Luby’s in TX, Uncle Mick’s is similar, minus being able to order roast beef, chicken fried steak etc… There’s nothing wrong with Picadilly and Luby’s food, it’s really good cafeteria food, not Cajun food. On my initial visit to UM’s, I leave feeling the same way.

Found this place while traveling from Bham down to Mobile and the reviews were excellent so decided I would try it. Came in at lunch time so there was a small crowd. Got up to the steam line and the gentlemen asked if I had been here before which I told him I had not. He started providing me with little samples so I could try all the entrees before I ordered!!! Wow… everything was great. Did a split entrée and Cajun potato salad. Highly recommend!!!

Amazing place. Staff is so nice and friendly. You can sample anything and they will split entrée so you can order half of one thing and half of another. We just ate lunch here for under $ 20. Owner even stopped by to see if we wanted more bread or anything.

Uncle Mick’s was a surprise. Me and my wife went there on a Saturday night and to be honest I was skeptical that a restaurant, that from the outside didn’t appear like it would be that busy, would be that good. I was completely wrong. I had the crawfish étouffée and my wife had the Shrimp ala crème. They were both out of this world. I went back and got a second helping of the étouffée! That’s just how good this food was. It is a, for lack of a better description, cafeteria style. The food is out on a hot bar and you just tell them what you want and they will also let you sample anything you want as well. So quick service and you don’t get stuck with something that sounds good but turns out to be something you don’t like. Ohh. And then décor is great as well. I highly recommend!

I recently relocated to the Montgomery area and immediately knew I had to check this place out. Was greeted by Mick and his family and immediately offered free samples of all the popular dishes. I went with a crawfish dish, the girlfriend went with a shrimp a la crème. I can’t say enough about the food here, and the people who run it. Oh, and they have the best green beans I’ve ever had. Do not miss Uncle Micks!

I am a frequent traveler to the Montgomery area and haven’t had any real luck finding decent local food. Up until today that is. Uncle Mick’s is in the old side of Prattville on a beautiful main street peppered with lots of locally owned small businesses. When my friend and I entered the café we were immediately greeted by Mick and offered generous samples of the various delicious cajun dishes offered in the cafeteria/deli style counter area. All of the food is delicious but I was partial to the shrimp crème sauce over rice. I also sampled an alligator sausage sauce over rice and it was the perfect blend of spice and flavor. So good. They were out of boudin sausage this evening but I highly recommend it if you haven’t tried it before. They offer free Italian ice cups to military members and have a wide variety of southern desserts including pecan pie and bread pudding for purchase. This place should be on everyone’s mandatory Montgomery eatery list. It’s surely on mine now.

If a place ever deserved 5-stars I guess this place does. At Uncle Mick’s the food is par-none. Everything everyone got was delectable. The interior of the place is homey and nice as well. Uncle Mick was serving behind the cafeteria style bar the night we went. He was super friendly and dole out sample after sample with a smile on his face. It felt very welcoming and it was nice to get a taste of what you liked before you ordered because(to me at least) the food is unique and not my usual fair. I got the sampler and I can’t remember what all I had, but it was all great. I bought some of Uncle Mick’s secret hot sauce to go because it was so unlike anything I’ve ever had. Kind of sweet, but still spicy, with a blast of something I can’t quite identify. Go here if you’re in the area; you can’t go wrong!
