3 Great courses! The judge is very long(6800+ yards from the tips). Great putting and chipping facilities. Reasonably priced restaurant/snack bar. $ 70+ per round.

Played Judge Course(once only) on 3÷31÷2013 We had a GREAT time here. This is a very scenic course — probably even moreso when the flora is in bloom later in the season(it was a LONG winter!). You can’t beat the opening tee shot(though it’s a little scary :). As with the other courses we played on the RTJ Trail(Ross Bridge and Grand National), be humble with your selection of tee boxes when playing for the first time. True to it’s name, The Judge is TOUGH. Still, we found it much more playable than the courses at Grand National. What makes all these courses so tough are that there was very little rough when we played and most of the fairways and greens slope off towards the many water hazards. But there is some room to miss on this course and especially after playing once or twice I can see it becoming less intimidating and stepping back a tee box(in my case from the Orange to the Purple). The greens were MUCH more receptive to iron shots than the other courses we played. That helped immensely. One mistake I made was ordering two breakfast sandwiches as we arrived very hungry before our early tee time. They are huge. One is plenty, even for reasonably big eaters like myself. Getting back to the golf course, aside from the opening tee shot I remember fondly the par 36th and the par 57th as they played through the lakes. Also the par 312th over the pond. The par 316th was quite a bear into a hurting left-to-right wind that day. The course conditions were excellent, as we became used to on this brief RTJ Trail excursion. The greens here weren’t as smooth and fast as the other courses, though. Go, be humble, and enjoy.

Mancation I is officially over. We are going to be doing a Mancation every year for the rest of our lives and we are going to number them like Super Bowls with roman numerals. This year it was just two of us, me and my buddy named Kurt. We are going to fill it out with multiple foursomes as the years pass but it’s going to be somewhat of a player’s club golf trip with each member having a ten or better handicap by the time we make the tee times for that year’s trip. We will only take on a full foursome so if we have eight and two more prospects are ready to go, they have to wait until we get two more so we have three full foursomes, even if they meet all the qualifications. No exceptions. This year we were on a budget so we kept it within driving distance. We’ll probably have to do this for the first several trips until we can budget round trip airfare and allocate more money for better accommodations. We drove up last Wednesday morning leaving Orlando around 6:00AM. Just north of I-75 we hit a wall of traffic. It was dead stop, parking lot style for over three hours. Apparently a pedestrian got hit by a semi and body parts were all over the place so we had to wait a while for them to clean it up and investigate the scene. That afternoon we made it to our hotel and then went straight to the course. We practiced short game on three different, really nice practice areas near the back of the driving range. Then we hit some full swing shots on the practice tee before putting until dark. It was a really good practice session. The next morning we played the Legislator course at RTJ Capitol Hill. It was a beast: 7477 yards, with a slope of 149 and rating 76.9 We got our money’s worth for sure! The condition of the course was superb and we recommend the Capitol Hill location to all golfers. What a great start to our first Mancation.

Robert Trent Jones at Capitol Hill is one of the best and most difficult golf courses in the area. There are three separate courses — the legislator, judge, and senator. I play the senator most often which is very hilly and very open — there are very few trees unlike many of the courses in the area. Just make sure that you buy a trail card when you go so you can get a huge discount on green fees for the rest of the year!!!

Pretty good courses. I have played the judge and the legislator. The judge is a much better track, but the legislator is still fun. THe Judge from the tips is a challenge, over 7700 yards. There is one par 5 on the back that is 715 yards… deaaaaamn.
