I shop here frequently since they seem to be the only ones who carry a certain whiskey. I don’t find their prices competitive at all, but their sales are ok. I really like the self checkout which is fast. Look out for the occasional(and unadvertised) manager specials in the deli– I’ve purchased Boars Head meat for less than $ 5/lb!

This grocery store is leagues I have been to. Employees are friendly and alive, which always helps! The layout of the store was clean and easy to navigate; having an opening in the middle of the aisles to get to other aisles made shopping much easier. It generally looks great, but I will admit it is a tad drab inside. The alcohol selection for booze and spirits is amazing, including domestic and local favorites. Gotta say, I was impressed!

A genuine frat boy’s grocery store! Nine years of living in Louisiana and the Prairieville Winn-Dixie is the only Winn-Dixie I’ve set foot in. It’s the one near my house so I don’t really have any reason to frequent another Winn-Dixie store. Since this is the only WD I’ve been to this review is for the Prairieville store only. Over the past year and a half or so this store has gone through a major-ass overhaul and has really upped their game. What used to be a pretty basic, cookie cutter, All American, red-and –white supermarket now borderlines on being closer to an upscale store without the steep prices and pretentious attitude. It’s still good olé Winn-Dixie, but a tidbit nicer. Updated and fresh. They now have a chicken wing bar and according to my husband, the wings are decent. You have a smörgåsbord of wings slathered in an array of sauces ala Buffalo Wild Wings. They have these All-You-Can-Fill buckets for $ 12.99. My hubby absolutely crams them full of wings to the point where trying to put the lid on it is like trying to close a grossly overstuffed suitcase of chicken. You can also pick up baked chicken, mashed potatoes, baked beans, and mac and cheese for lunch like you can at Leblanc’s Market. They’ve expanded the bakery and seem to have a larger selection of snobby cheeses than before. I believe the reason for the store makeover was probably to compete with Leblanc’s, Alexander’s, and stores of that ilk. While Alexander’s is definitely more swanky poo(it’s the kind of upscale grocery store you would take your crazy aunt from out of town to as a tourist attraction) the prices at Winn-Dixie are easier on the wallet. The hooched up store fortunately didn’t result in a price increase. They still do the Winn-Dixie fuel perk cards. My favorite thing about this store is they have pretty sweet deals on junk food. When I have a case of the munchies this is where I shop. Right where you walk in they always have a display of their weekly junk food sale items. Frequently it’s boxes of Cheez-its two for $ 5, or packages of various Keebler Elf cookies two for $ 5. Bags of Santitas chips for $ 2(though this seems pretty standard for Santitas. Great corn chips for only $ 2BTW). They also have the best selection of novelty ice cream items. I can find Klondike bars at most grocery stores but the Prairieville Winn Dixie carries the hallowed Heath bar and cookies and cream Klondike bars so that alone makes this a better store. Walmart carries them too, but it’s Walmart, and shopping at Walmart single handedly annihilates the well being of basic humanity(though I did score a good buy on cheap camisole tops there the other day. Blush). Other nifty tidbits about this store: a decent size beer, wine, and booze section. Yes, it does have the liquor. They also have a mighty selection of locally made Zapp’s potato chips. Yum! If you’re looking for gluten free and specialty food items you’ll probably be happier down the road at Leblanc’s or Alexander’s, but WD does carry Morning Star Farm products. They have a small selection of Amy’s frozen dinners. I wish they had more of the Amy’s shit. If they were able to expand their hipster food section it would catapult them into the realm of being the quintessential perfect grocery store. A store with the best of both worlds: high end/healthier fare and basic needs/party binge fest grub. As of now they fall a little short, but maybe they’ll add more specialty food items down the road. Still, with its chicken wing bar, behemoth beer and liquor section, and deals on chips and candy, this store is the epitome of frat boy, super bowl party, or stoner grocery shopping. If you’re planning on slothing around the house watching football for the afternoon and you want good buys on snacks this is the place to go. At the same time you can earn fuel perks for discounts on gasoline for your car. Hell yeah! Last but not least, they now have self checkout which I really dig. When I’m solely buying food to tame a case of the munchies I’m usually embarrassed to have a real live, eating, breathing, shitting person check me out. I can stock up on Cheez-its, Reese’s cups, and Klondike bars without raising any eyebrows, and that’s the way I like it.

As far as grocery stores go, this Winn Dixie is pretty basic. If you strictly need the necessities to fill your kitchen cabinets you’ll be fine. If you’re looking for a high-end grocery store where you can grab lunch, get specialty items, or International ingredients this is not the store for you. The great part about this grocery store is they have a fuel perks program for their loyal shoppers! Every time you shop at Winn Dixie you earn points, those points can be redeemed for money off current gas prices. If you’re looking for a basic grocery store with a good rewards program, this is the place for you!
