One star review because we took the time to visit this store & it was closed. Checked online hours & planned our days while in the area to go on a Thursday. We get there @10:40am on 5⁄12 & the open sign is dark. Sign in window lists days/​hours & it should have been open. I understand at times there are emergencies. If that’s the case then have someone throw a sign up. I would definitely call before taking time out of your day to go here.

I have had the pleasure of meeting Gerry and her lovely daughter, Christine. Lovely doesn’t begin to describe them. Can’t wait to check out the store on my next afternoon off. BTW: love the horse outside the store… reminiscent of 1888? Oh yes.

The Poyntelle General Store is amazing! It’s run by the beautiful and talented Gerry, and has incredible hard to find gifts from all over the country.
They sell jewelery, fudge, horse tack, pet supplies, groceries, there is always a surprise when you shop there.
Staff is friendly and helpful and the store was established in 1888 so there are a ton of unique antiques to look at including original block coolers and original town post office.
This is a must see if you’re in the area.
