By far the rudest Doctor I’ve ever encountered! I don’t know how he’s still in business. Show professionalism for God’s sake, you work in one of the most noble and rewarding professions. Such a shame. Gives dentists everywhere a bad name.

I hate him from the bottom of my heart; Although I don’t have any idea about his work! I just hate him because of his personality!

He is just a doctor who exaggerates crap especially his assistant soto, so he can get money out of you.

Newman (didn’t say Dr. before his name because he doesn’t deserve that kind of respect) is not great. He just thrives on getting the most of your insurance and your own pocket. He does not do a good job providing the best care. He just does the most expensive. That’s why he did an extraction of someone’s tooth before even attempting a root canal (or refer to other dentists or orthodontics) because he gets the ‘job’ done and gets his pay faster that way.
In addition, his dental supplies are not great. The anesthetics he and his partner Soto use are not strong. They wear down before they start working on your teeth. They either buy the cheapest, ratchet dental supplies, or just for the case of the anesthetics, they dilute so they don’t use much.
Kaz Newman and his associate Soto and most of his staff are rude, fake, and unprofessional. His website declares that ‘He is committed to orthodontic excellence for best functional and esthetic results and a lifetime of beautiful smiles.‘
Yeah, right.

i can’t believe he is still in business, the worst, of the worst, do not send your kid there had to go so where else to repair his bad work, not a nice man.

Worst orthodontist ever. Where to start, Dr Newman is very rude and inconsiderate, his staff is very rude as well. Seems that there is no communication what so ever and when you ask a question these people look at you like you’re stupid or that the question your asking is putting them out. Would not recommend anyone in Poway or San Diego to be treated by this guy. Not only does he charge an arm and a leg for orthodontics I have not met one person yet that has been happy with his practice. Caution parents do not take your child to this guy. He should actually have his license taken away for being a douche bag.

Dr. Newman did my orthodontics work a few years ago back when I was in school. Normally I wouldn’t go on Unilocal to review something like this, but I almost feel a need to warn people about this man. I didn’t have very good teeth, but they certainly weren’t the worst most had seen. Just crookedness and an overbite.
The office itself is nice, and the staff was always very friendly. However, Dr. Newman was quite the opposite. He was very gruff and judgmental, and I don’t think I ever heard him laugh once. That all would have been fine if he could do his job well, but that’s not the case.
He unnecessarily pulled 4 teeth that weren’t close to coming out. Many orthodontists I’ve talked to since have told me he never should have done that in the first place. They weren’t my wisdom teeth, either. They were four baby molars.
After the teeth pulling, he let me out of the office without any warning as to what may happen. I went into the waiting room, only to see my Mother’s look of panic and the worried faces on almost everyone else in the waiting room. My face was numb, but I was told it looked as though I was bleeding profusely from my mouth. I was rushed back to the Doctor, who said it was just saliva mixing with some blood. It was «normal» apparently. Well, that’s fine, but warning and clean up would have been appreciated! He hadn’t told anyone that might happen, and it scared quite a few people. He didn’t even blink an eye.
He also didn’t seem to care that one of my wires kept coming loose and really hurting me, blaming it on me (when I did nothing wrong). I was constantly needing more wax than anyone I knew just to keep my mouth from being cut up. Any time I seemed to bring up a problem with him, he always found a way to blame it on me and the way I treated my braces. He didn’t offer any other solution.
He also made me wear headgear, even though it wasn’t necessary. Even wearing the socially condemning contraption didn’t seem to hurry up the process though, and I would have been better off not wearing it.
He put in a permanent bottom retainer, even though I made it very clear I did not want that at all. He would *not* give me a fitted one for my lower teeth, and downright refused it. To this day it gives me problems, and I’m looking for someone to remove it once I can afford it.
Some have tried to convince me that the man was simply doing his job, but that isn’t the case either. When he removed my braces, my bite still wasn’t correct. In fact, because of his work, my teeth didn’t fit properly together. I had to take out the top (that one was fitted) retainer just to get my teeth to properly begin to fit again. Now everything is fine, but for a while, it felt really awkward.
In short, my opinion is not to go here at all. There are much better orthodontists (one I know is right across the street)!
