Incredible service and good food.
Their chicken soup is good, but not as good as Lordes in Escondido. They have my heart.
I wasn’t a huge fan of the zucchini slices and way to much carrot for me. Also looking for a bit more flavor.
Good if you’re in the mood for something close, but personally it’s worth the extra drive to Escondido for Lordes chicken soup.

My significant other told me that Don Pollo has really good chicken soup and I decided to give it a try. I LOVE their chicken soup!!! It comes with onions, avocado, carrots, chicken, and rice. It’s so flavorful without being too heavy or salty. We also order chicken and beef tacos and they were both good.
Service was fast and friendly. I will definitely be back for more chicken soup.

I’m usually wary of places that advertise they have «the best» of something, but Don Pollo really does have the best chicken soup I’ve ever tasted. The broth is delicious and it’s filled with tons of chicken, veggies, rice and fresh avocado. My mouth is watering as I’m writing this review!

I ordered the 2 piece chicken and asked for white meat only which they indulged. It came with retried beans and rice. All was quite good as was the salsa. The best part was it was only $ 5-​something.
This seems to be the eatery of choice of Sheriff’s officers as well. Probably means your car is safe outside.

It’s just yummy!!! I order from Don Pollo all the time for my family. When I need to buy food for other families I always bring them the chicken soup. Yum!

Great food, great service, great people! Very attentive even with how busy it was! Will be back, considering having as a caterer.

First thing I noticed was how clean the restaurant was when we walked in… Service is great, food is fresh, chicken was awesome. Glad we found this hidden gem. Much better than 99% of other taco shops. We will definitely be back!

This place is the best. I found this place to be the best tasting chicken I have had in a while. Must try.

This place so far has been the best Mexican food in Poway. The restaurant is clean inside which was the first thing I noticed walking in. The menu is a good size menu not too many items but has a good variety of items along with family size items as well. I tried the carne asada salad, which was full of flavor. The menu above the items does tell you what is inside the salad, tacos, etc. The reason for my 4 star is when I read the menu it stated the salad contains «lettuce, tomato, avocado, croutons& cranberries». Upon receiving my salad I saw there was red onions inside which was not mentioned. I asked the lady if I can get a new one since I didn’t know there was onions as I am allergic to them. I did get an attitude when I told her I could not eat the salad. I feel it is important to mention all ingredients if that’s how you display the menu.

Deliciously moist and flavorful chicken. Piping hot and perfectly cooked. My beans and rice were very uninspiring, not bad just meh. Over 15 minutes for my order to be served at 11AM on a Tuesday? Before the lunch rush? It ain’t right. I’ll get Turko on it I guess. No salsa bar so you’ll have to ask for hot sauce, I got 1 red… I ordered a 4 piece plate lady! Chicken was bomb though, so 4 stars!

Don Pollo Don Pollo Don Pollo say 3 times with me now. Mmmmmm redonkuilously good 5 stars all day. Let me start with the caldo de pollo (chicken soup) is by far the best I’ve had and I’ll say it in front of my mother father grandmother’s and mother in law too. The flavor is out of this world and the veggies are al dente not mush. On to the delicious savory properly seasoned perfectly cooked juicy chicken that comes with those awsome white onion pices well you get the picture get over to Don Pollo now!

I stopped by here for lunch after getting my car fixed today. I found this joint on Unilocal and thought I’d give it a try. AND THANK GOD I DID!
Very flavorful food! I ordered the chicken soup and one of the chicken meals. The soup is amazing! I love soup and it’s hard to find a Mexican place that serves chicken soup, not just menudo and pork or red meat based soups.
The chicken is seasoned very well and the salsas they have are very flavorful.
The prices are great too! Even though it’s out of the way in terms of distance, I will definitely be back here!

The wife and I ate here the other week and we love it.
We got TWO number #11’s which is 3 street tacos, rice and beans, and a soda.
When I was filling my soda I looked at the menu again and noticed #22 which is 6 street tacos, rice and beans.
The lady at the counter could have told me to just get a #22 since it’s essentially the same, but oh well my fault for not paying attention.

This place is ALMOST as great as El Pollo Rico in DC. El Pollo Rico of many a foodies best-​of list fame.
Do yourself a favor and come here! The nicest family runs this little shop and their chicken is probably the best thing about Poway and the only thing, other than the Target down the road having the last Tickle Me Elmo at Christmastime, that brings me to Poway.

A co-​worker recommended this place for lunch and off I go to try some chicken tacos. The restaurant is called Don Pollo, it’ll be foolish to not try their chicken. I went with 2 chicken tacos, 1 carne asada taco and 1 al pastor taco. It’s too bad that they no longer sell cebeza tacos due to low popularity, I like trying out weird things.
You can’t beat the price of $ 1.25 a taco with the chunky pieces of chicken and carne asada in the tacos. The salsa verde that came with it tasted fresh with a nice kick. It’s an all-​around simple and delicious tacos meal for a bargain. High quality food for cheap, it doesn’t get any better than this.
FYI, try to avoid going around 12 PM as it can get pretty crowded since you’ll run into the beauty school next door going on their lunch break. If you don’t mind seeing beautiful women as you wait in line, however, then by all means go at 12 PM.

Another Review of a place that’s been on my bucket list for some time now. I was raised on great chicken as a boy and when I saw this place on Unilocal I knew I had to check it out.
This place is between a 3 and 4 Star place tucked away in the back of a small strip mall. You would never know it was here if you didn’t see it on Unilocal.It’s not visible from Poway Road.
There is plenty of parking and seating at this family run Small Grilled Mexican Chicken Shack.
Now on to the food.
The chicken is grilled nicely with allot of great flavor.
The Refried Beans and Rice are tasty and come with most meals.
I ordered the #1 Whole Chicken Meal to go. A little pricy at $ 18.99
This meal will feed three to four people or two hungry ones.
It comes with,
8pcs of Nicely Grilled Chicken with some grilled onions and roasted Jalapeño peppers. The roasted peppers were a little spicy but not bad at all.
A container of Refried beans.
A container of Fried rice.
A green salad with dressing.
And a nice amount of corn tortillas to munch everything on.
All in All not a bad meal.
A nice to know place here in Poway.
I will be back to try some of the other dishes they have like their Famous Chicken Soup and Street Tacos.

This place would have received a higher rating if they had given more than just a few Grilled Onions with a $ 19.00 whole chicken meal. Also the tortillas could have been A lot fresher. Perhaps they should look into serving fresh home made tortillas then they might be closer to a five star.

I’m official done with this place. I have no idea why this place is so popular. The chicken is always SUPER dry… and its usually dark meat pieces. How can you get dark meat so dry??? The soup is good but not extraordinary. Ive been here numerous times and the wait is very long regardless if they are busy or not. Ive had my order short changed a few times. The guy that works there is always nice but a couple times that they have messed up my orders, he’s told me to remind him next time I come in and he’ll give me the order for free. Sounds nice but this is unprofessional and in my opinion tactful. Will he even remember me next time I come in???
Out of the ten times Ive eaten here, only 1 time has their food been delicious. The chicken wasn’t as dry and everything tasted phenomenal. Perhaps that is why I kept coming back but I’m officially done. Id rather just go to El Pollo Loco.

This place is a tucked away in a little strip mall and it really doesn’t stand out but it’s a litlte gem of a place. Tacos and such are good but the star is the chicken soup. It’s simple, basic, but absolutely perfect for the rainy day lunch I had here. Truly one of those foodie Zen moments where the atmosphere and the food come together to create that fleeting moment of Nirvana. Nothing fancy, just a guy really enjoying his soup. Carry on=)

The food quality exceeded my expectation. The chicken is a must have in any form.
My wife had the street tacos which they call taquitos (a little confusing –½pt) and they were some of the best tacos I’ve had.
I had the three piece chicken meal and it was awesome!
The place is a bit of a dive and they had a tv in the dining area blasting some political show. Who wants that as ambiance while you eat (–½pt).
Overall: I will be back.
