Food was so fast! I sat down, ordered and went to the restroom. When I came back, they were delivering the food. I had eggs Benedict which were meh. But other people had delicious looking plates. I’ll come back and try once more.

I’ve been coming to Cullys for 30 years and the food has always been great. Large portions and friendly staff with a hometown feel. They are mostly known for their breakfast dishes but have a good lunch menu as well. They open early but close at 2:00pm. The atmosphere is nothing fancy but you are always felt welcome. I highly recommend Cullys.

Had the biscuit and gravy… AMAZING! My friend had the ham breakfast and the ham was also delicious. I’m really happy I found this place! Especially being from out of town and sick of the hotel breakfast… Awesome job.

Awesome little mom and pop type of eatery in Poway. I stopped by Bellus Academy for a service and noticed this restaurant and was curious about it. So afterwards I stopped by and ordered some breakfast to go. The staff was so friendly when I came in, all smiles and jokes. Even the other customers too. The inside definitely looks like a blast from some country past(think country style wooden chairs and tables you’d see at grandma’s house), but I dig it! I ordered the machaca plate and the corn beef hash plate. Paid with my debit card with no problems(I guess they only took cash in the past) and I was out the door in about 15 minutes with my food. Portions are pretty big. The machaca plate was delicious and full of shredded beef. Corn beef hash was okay, a little soggy… but I guess I prefer mine cooked a little more. The housemade salsa was delicious! Very fresh and a good amount of spice! Great with my machaca and tortilla. I want to come back and try some of their other stuff. Really yummy and the service is awesome!

The thing about Cully’s is that it houses some of the kindest, most unique characters serving some of the best American style breakfast food, that I’ve ever had. I suppose there might be a bit of a bias, because when I was younger, my family would come here most Sundays and have a big family brunch, and we were always treated as if we were part of /their/family, not to mention that the food was delicious! And, having recently revisited this hole in the wall gem, i can say it still meets every expectation that child me had set for it! A definite must if you’re in the area and looking for a cozy breakfast spot!

Completely horrible! We had breakfast at Cully’s while visiting San Diego on vacation. It was busy and we had to wait about 10 minutes, which normally would be fine, but the owner(?) pretty much ignored everyone who was waiting until it was your turn to be seated. Once it was your turn, he’d just point you to a table. It’s a small place(maybe 10 tables?), but there were people waiting the entire time we were there and only one waiter. The waiter acknowledged us only long enough to take our order and give us our bill. The food was average. My son had French toast. I had a French dip. My husband had a breakfast combo and the hash browns were cold and barely cooked. I’m not even sure how clean the restaurant is. I think they’re going for a kitschy, 50s feel and failed. It’s called Cully’s Canine Café, which makes me think more of dog hair on the floor than 50s kitsch. No thanks.

My wife and I have been coming to Cullys for several years and thoroughly enjoy the food and the accompanying service from the entire staff. We have tried a number of the entrees on the menu and find them to be tasty and plentiful. In addition, the prices are very reasonable. The servers are patient and courteous and Mark the owner is a great guy. They are always accomodating and do their best to ensure customers are well treated and served timely. There are few restaurants open for breakfast in Poway and this is a great place to bring the family or enjoy on your own.

Oh my goodness. Took the wife here this morning for our first visit ever. I’ve lived in and around Poway for 33 years and have never been here. My bad, this place is awesome. It’s a small venue in a strip mall next to the old Poway theater. I had heard the wait time could be long especially on a Saturday morning, but we lucked out and only waited 15 minutes for a seat. I’m a huge biscuit & gravy lover so that’s why I came. They were great with my hash browns and eggs. The wife got the corned beef hash which was very tasty. Let’s get back to the hash browns, Outstanding. Best I’ve ever had and I’m not joking. The owner who’s an older fellow couldn’t have been nicer. The food came out fresh and hot. In short I can’t wait to go back. Our total bill was $ 22.00 and that was with refills of ice tea and coffee. This is the real deal. I’ll be back soon.

This restaurant is a wonderful place to have a nice hearty breakfast. Service was friendly and attentive. It definitely gets crowded but for good reason. I will definitely be coming back soon.

Cully’s is a hole-in-the-wall, breakfast and lunch only, diner style, classic American food joint. There’s nothing special per se about the food, building, or experience. I give them a five star review because they’re simply excellent at what they do. They stand out from other local similar restaurants in a variety of ways: 1. They seem to operate very efficiently. Food always comes out fast. 2. Large portions and excellent prices. 3. Friendly and attentive management and staff. 4. Pretty extensive menu. The handful of times we’ve been in, we’ve consistently been satisfied. We like to go out to breakfast especially on the weekend. At Cully’s you know what you’ll get whereas a lot of the other local breakfast places have smaller portions/higher prices and don’t seem to increase staff on busier days.

This place is hidden in the big plaza with the O’Reillys and Bellus Academy. I say hidden because there are a bunch of tall trees which do a pretty good job of obscuring the view of Cully’s from the street. It’s a very mom and pop place that feels like you’re in someone’s kitchen. They serve typical American style breakfast and lunch fare. I ordered the meatloaf entrée. It came with a salad which was gigantic. I think you get the better half of a head of iceberg lettuce. However, it does come covered with raw brown onions so ask them to leave it out if it’s not your thing. The meatloaf itself was good and I didn’t find it too dry like some other meatloafs I’ve encountered.

Came here on the way up to Julian for brunch not knowing what to expect. This place is tucked away in an old strip mall. The inside is pretty old as well. Our hostess was pretty funny. He could’ve been my grandpa and was trying to make my friend and I laugh. If you don’t have a sense of humor, I could see how he could be offensive to some. We were seated within 5 minutes. My friend and I ordered the Denver omelette and a stack of pancakes to share. Holy moley the portions are huge! My favorite part about the omelette were the huge chunks of ham. I was honestly scared the ham was going to be slim and lame, but this place proved me wrong! The omelette was made kind of funky — I don’t think the filling was encased in the eggs, rather the eggs were on top of the filling. Who cares, it tastes great! We also got the O’Brien potatoes as our side. I highly recommend those. The pancakes were a little gummy but fine to eat. Just regular syrup at the table. Great family place for breakfast and lunch. Portions were huge and our bill was cheap, just how I like it. Service was quick and prompt.

We were welcomes by the old dude with open arms even though it was busy. The service was brisk, efficient and polite. Been here a few times since our first visit and have no real complaints. The heuvos rancheros is amazing. They don’t ask how you want your eggs, which I like as they simply know how to cook them! The price is really reasonable except the sides don’t correlate. $ 7/for a huge meal then $ 3.25/for a side of hashbrowns? Anyway, I pay it. Ken Shamrock was eating here when he was training g for the Slice fight. If it’s good enough for him, its good enough for me! I’m sure the result was not due to the food!

We enjoyed the hearty, simple breakfast we got from Cully’s. This definitely feels like a place that locals would frequent. The restaurant was almost completely full, which I took as a good sign. The food is no-frills but handled well. I got the short stack breakfast, which was pancakes, eggs, and bacon. They are more than happy to make a Mickey Mouse pancake for kids, complete with a whipped cream smiley face. The décor is a painfully dated 70’s country-western theme, but I found it somewhat charming. A man who I assume was the owner(or manager) came by our table more than once to ensure that we were happy with everything and was quite friendly. I would definitely come back here again for breakfast.

Hubby and I had breakfast here the day after moving to the Rancho Bernardo area. Upon realizing that all we had in the fridge was Gatorade and leftover pizza from the night before, we decided to find a breakfast place. We were initially looking for a Denny’s or other chain diner, but stumbled upon this place after dropping off our U-Haul right next door. It’s located in a plaza, but on Sunday morn, all were still tucked away in their beds, so there was plenty of parking. Guess all the early birds were at Cully’s though, because the place was packed. It’s not a huge establishment; just a large room with wooden tables and chairs set up. The décor is very 80s, I wanna say, with wall paper. Didn’t phase me though, the place was clean. We waited about 10 minutes after chatting with the owner, who was a very kind gentleman, and had the servers take us to our table. He let us know that his grand kids are the servers! A true family business, gotta love that. Menus were handed out coffee order taken. Coffee refilled often. As for the meal, I don’t stray from my favorites much, so I ordered the short stack of pancakes with sausage. Hubby ordered the Italian sausage and potatoes and some eggs. The food came out within 10 – 15 minutes and was hot. My pancakes were fantastic, but it’s pretty hard to mess up pancakes. Hubby’s Italian sausage seemed rather undercooked to me, though he didn’t say anything about it. The breakfast sausages that came with my order were thoroughly cooked, so I’m not sure why the Italian seemed a bit… raw… I’d love to come back and support this small family business, I’d just make sure to ask for the sausage to be well done.
