Quiet on a week night, which is nice if you just wanna grab a beer without loud music and overcrowded bar. Moderate variety of bottles, served in the bottle. Small tap selection. and stale on 2 attempts at different beers. Very traditional menu but very little«pub» food. If you want scotch eggs take the chance. Will keep looking for a place to call the GOTO bar.

It’s so hard to give a 1-star, isn’t it? I debated with my beer-swilling partner in crime for a bit over whether it should be 2. I mean, we didn’t eat there. But the reason we didn’t eat there? The abundance of gnats and flies. So even if the food is tasty, I had serious doubt as to its safety. We have this absurd ritual when something is happening that makes us both uncomfortable. I almost say something, then make a face, shake my head, and start messing with my phone. He opens his mouth to speak, shuts it, turns his hands over in silent debate, then tells me he’s going to «the head». Why do we not leave/speak up when this happens? It never ends well. For some absurd reason, we went ahead and ordered beers. They have casks which is nice, but the options were limited to IPAs which seems like an odd choice for early fall. The glasses were not clean when they poured our choices. I did not finish my beer before we left.

A proper pub in proper little Poulsbo! We stopped in here on Saturday on our way back from the pumpkin patch with a hungry 10 month old and two thirsty adults. The place was pretty empty considering how packed the rest of Poulsbo was, and that worked perfectly for us. We ordered the poutine and artichoke dip to start, I didn’t really care for the poutine, not by any fault of theirs, turns out I just don’t care for fries and gravy. But the artichoke dip was literally the best I have ever had. Lots of artichoke hearts and fresh zucchini over hot cheese and warm, toasty bread served on the side. My husband ordered the cottage pie and loved it, although after those apps and 2 beers, he had to take most of it home. I had the hot pastrami sandwich and it was really good! Mostly, we liked the small town pub ambiance. The bartender seemed to know most of her patrons, was very friendly and had good, local beers on tap. Can’t beat it!

I walked in after 10pm with my sweetie looking for a late night meal in Poulsbo(extremely hard to find establishments serving past 9pm in North Kitsap). After a long day, we walked into Hare and Hounds and enjoyed a casual few drinks and awesome pub food. We are definitely returning.

Warm & inviting. Good beer, good food, good service and we are watching the Seahawks playoff game before we walk back to the boat. What more can you ask for?
