This place is definitely more geared towards being a nightclub for the college students than a restaurant. I don’t even think it deserves to be considered a restaurant. First of all, no service what so ever, despite the nice little podium set up for the hostess to sit people. Might as well go throw that out and use it as firewood. The other workers there didn’t bother to help us, seems like their conversation was a lot more important than working, you getting paid to chit chat or work buddy? No tip for you. At least the food was decent. I got the Mahoney’s Irish Pub Pie, pretty much like the Shepard’s Pie but instead of it being mash potatoes, it’s gravy. I sat at the bar downstairs and the bartender at least did her job. Kudos to you. So my tip: if you want to eat here, don’t expect great service, and don’t feel bad leaving a terrible tip because they don’t deserve the tip for the lousy service they provide.

I will never ever be giving Mahoney’s my business. My friend and I were dying to grab a drink after a long concert. First off, the rude bouncer at the door didn’t even say hello or anything. He just gestured with his hand for ID. After showing ID, we went downstairs. The seats at the bar were filled, so we sat at a table. A waiter saw us walk in, didn’t greet us, and watched us sit down. He also watched us looking around for service, until my friend waved him over. Without a smile or greeting, he rudely says, «Oh, did you want a waiter?» After that, he grabs a waiter who handed us menus. And then this waiter obliviously asked if we wanted to order from the menu. After not being impressed with the menu or the terrible service, we decided to tell the waiter that we would not be ordering. But that never happened because he took forever to come back, so we left. I have no idea why everyone from Poughkeepsie says that Mahoney’s is the best bar in town. We went over to Amici’s in the same strip and had a much better experience.

We had the braised short ribs & Shepherds pie and it was delicious. Beautiful Irish pub & restaurant at the Poughkeepsie train station.

Food was very good, nachos are killer and so is the French onion soup. We got there early so it wasn’t that busy but soon filled up for the dinner rush! Waitress was nice but we only saw her 3 times(once for drinks, once for appetizers, and once for the check) it didn’t seam that busy for us to be forgotten about. Nevertheless it was all and all a good experiment and will defiantly have to try it again.

Great customer service! Jessica, Nicole and Pat we awesome! We arrived from the train station, had a drink and asked if we could get a taxi. Instead the manager insisted on driving us to our hotel, which was not very close by! The next day we attended a wedding and after the reception Pat picked up the wedding party and brought us back to the bar. What a great time!

Onion soup was great, fish and chips were huge portions and great, wings and burger cooked well buy the one time I went there and had an amazing dinner, it also came out unpleasantly on the other end for both me and my date. Yikes…

Im a marist student who transferred from oswgeo, i turned 21 in august. i turned 21 in august and came to go out with my friend who was talking about this place for weeks. When i reached the door only the downstairs was open as if they were trying to close early. I walked up the bouncer at the door, who quickly glanced my id and then shooed me away without giving me a legitimate explanation as to why i could not be let in. He had black slicked black hair to the side on the night of 09÷10÷15 and denied me entrance because he deemed my friends to look«sketchy» even though were all business majors at marist. I have never seen such discrimination in my life before, even though i was the only non minority out of my group of friends(which consisted of white, middle eastern, and asian people who are all were stuendents at marist.) I have never felt more persecuted of a hate crime than when i went to mahoneys.

Great spot with a huge amount of space to sit. Service was very friendly and quick which I always love. Great prices for the food. Its got 2 floors and 2 entry ways. The entry way downstairs is the bigger bar and the entry way upstairs is where all the seats are. The owner even walked by and asked if everything was ok which was very nice to see that he takes pride in his restaurant. I ordered the Jameson Burger and also a side of wings both were slammin. no complaints for me and the best part is the restaurant is right next to the train station.

Great neighborhood bar, good service, a smattering of outdoor seating. Excellent buffalo chicken fingers and decent burgers. All in all a good place to go!

Went into Mahoneys expecting a great Irish pub meal. What I expected is what I received. A great Irish meal. The food was fantastic and the atmosphere was wonderful. They had a live band playing 90’s alternative music who was on key to all the songs that they played. I had the boneless mild wings that came out steaming hot. For my meal I got the Jameson bbq burger which was out of this world and it came with crispy delicious fries. I will tell all my friends and family about this place and will go back again.

We came here Friday and Saturday night while I was visiting a friend in the area. It was very low key compared to what I’m used to for a weekend night. They had live music going on downstairs Friday night that seemed to be a big hit, though we were sitting upstairs near the overlook. We sat downstairs on Saturday night and there were tons of TVs showing various sporting events. They were probably slower than usual on this particular Saturday because the Mayweather/Pacquiao fight was going on and they did not have it. We were ok with that since everywhere else was gonna be crazy packed because of that fight anyway. They had pool tables and pretty good music happening downstairs. The bar itself was a little crowded, but service was good. We also had nachos and chicken wings. Both bar solid options, or at least seemed since I never tried the wings. Overall it was good place just to go out and chill with friends on a Saturday night.

I went to Mahoney’s for Lunch today. It was great. Good prices, friendly staff and awesome food. I’m a bit picky and I loved the chicken salad! So happy that I went! They can consider me a good customer because its my new lunch spot! Mahoney’s is much more then a bar its a great restaurant!

Ate here after visiting a local college with my husband and son. Had the french onion soup, two burgers and the chicken cabana panini. DELICIOUS… my son loved the bread for the burger, not a crumb left on his plate. the chicken was a perfect mix of all, and my husband really loved his soup and burger as well. Great place for lunch!

There’s a reason we haven’t been to this place in over 3 years… You would think that under new ownership the place would have changed: it got much worse. The«security staff» is a joke(a better term for these thugs would be: «I’m big and highly insecure; you’re small; I’m in charge; so unless you pay me off, I’m gonna be a jerk all night.») Drug dealing is at epidemic levels(we’re not talking marijuana). Bartenders tend to their friends and have their heads in the clouds. The place is absolutely filthy; if we were starving, we’d would sooner eat fish out of the Hudson than eat here. It’s a shame that an amazing, historical building is being wasted on such a terrible place – an absolute shame.

This is the second time I have gone to Mahoneys and been incredibly disappointed all around. I was there twice with big football games on– once they had tons of TV trouble, with games going in and out, and the second time they turned the sound off. The bartenders are generally inattentive, and seem more interested in hanging out with one another and flirting than actually talking to customers and making drinks. There was one standout bartender, a guy who actually had a personality and seemed interested in keeping customers happy. I’ve worked in bars, I get how friendly the staff becomes, but customers shouldn’t feel like the outsiders to their clique. The beer selection is boring, the food is nothing special, so they should find a way to make people want to return. I know I won’t be.

I’m not from the area but this place has such a reputation that I insisted on finding out what all the fuss is about. We went on a Saturday night, so the place was full of all kinds of bros, which was to be expected. It’s super packed, the bouncers are kind of douchey, and most of the crowd isn’t really a crowd you’d want to meet up with the next day.

My fiancée and I got off the Amtrak right next to this bar and decided to get a drink and some food while waiting for our ride. The doorman was so rude! He was impatient while my girl looked for her ID and then was roughly ripping through everything in my backpack(I had nice clothes packed for a wedding) and scolded me for having a splash of liquid left in a vitamin water bottle. We grabbed our things and decided to wait outside instead without any food or drinks– that’s how rude this guy was! I would never even consider going to this place again.

Food that we actually had served to us was good. However the kitchen messed up 4 out of the 13 orders thAt were placed for our party of 13. Appetizers forgotten, allergy requests forgotten. Dinners coming out all over the place, to wrong tables, wrong items, waited over an hour for our food Nd still some items didn’t come out. The waitress was very apologetic and I truly felt bad for her, but, she also should have checked things before they reached the table. Not sure if it because we sat outside, but if your establishment has outdoor seating, you have to be able to accommodate it. Our table and the two other tables around us, all were just laughing, because you really couldn’t do anything but laugh. The owner came out and apologized. I hope they get the staff together in a meeting to be able to work better together, or they are going to dissolve this mans business.

Their Grey Goose is most certainly not GG. It’s my vodka of choice wherever I go, so I know when I’ve been duped. Stay classy Mahoney’s. Stay classy.
