Really nice set up. Very contemporary. When we walked in I expected to get bad service since the bartender was also the waiter of the entire restraint at the time. He was great though. He kept our drinks filled, had a cheery happy attitude and was able to take our orders and make the drinks as well as take care of the rest of the customers. The appetizers were delicious. I ordered fried chicken which wasn’t as tasty as I was hoping. The mashed potatoes were a but bland and the chicken didn’t have much seasoning. That being said it was crispy and cooked nicely. I will be back to try something else on the menu.

Randomly discovered this place and I thought it was quite refreshing to see other things listed on the menu. Their seafood selection is great and the rainbow trout Milanese is my fave! Def will be coming back for more.

Had a delicious crab cake sandwich and my friend had tilapia which she said was so very good. Cozy place to dine with good music playing.

I love the space and décor here – the industrial yet cozy look(it is fairly small on the inside). The seating is very comfortable and the bar looks great. They have some good happy hour specials for wine. I really liked the Chardonnay I ordered. I ordered the Veal Bolognese for dinner, noticing that the pasta was made there. The dish was satisfactory but not as tasty as I imagined. I heard great things about the fish dishes and the presentation was beautiful.

The red quinoa tabbouleh salad with grilled chicken was AMAZING. Best quinoa salad I’ve ever had and the chicken was cooked perfectly. I could have licked my plate it it wouldn’t have embarrassed my family.

Best food in the neighborhood. We are so happy to have Mix because there’s not a lot around. The Asian spare ribs with the pancakes are the best. Always friendly and welcoming.

I was excited about the reviews for this place that I’ve seen on Unilocal, was excited to try a new place in Potomac, and happy that they had availability for Mother’s Day. For some background: on Mother’s Day of all days, they only had two servers, one bartender and one food runner. It was 10 minutes after we sat down before anyone even came back to the table. Our server brought us waters. No hello, «Hi, I’m your server _____today(never got his name at any point during the meal), just ice waters. Flash forward 20 minutes before he came back with menus. We did the All You Can Eat for $ 25. The table was pretty excited because the menu looked good. We put in 4 small plate orders each. They have bottomless mimosas for $ 15 or $ 7 each. But they were so weak that I’d have had to order 5 to get the effect of 2 at any other«trendy DC» restaurant, a feeling that they seem to be going for. Another 20 minutes before anything came out. One quick round of plates, lots of orders missing(even though they were duplicates of the same order at times), and then we ate. We also ordered three coffees and two mimosas. Two coffees came out, one mimosa came out. Then another 10 minutes before the missing coffee and mimosa came out. Food came out more regularly after that, but the server didn’t clear plates after dropping off new dishes. So our table was littered with plates the entire time and only cleared when he had to ask him to clear. The chicken and waffles, one of the more simple dishes, took the longest to come out. Unfortunately, that was the one dish my sister ordered(she skipped the all you can eat) and so she was hungry for quite a while. We had to constantly remind them of the dishes that were still missing and would sometimes end up with duplicates because of it. A table next to us, a couple with their newborn, had been there since before we arrived. We commiserated about the slow service and hot atmosphere together. We felt very bad for them! They were basically praying and hoping that they could get their bill before their newborn woke up. They’d been there for 2 hours and had asked for the check twice. Another table actually complained to the manager about the same issues we were all having. Hot restaurant, no bussing, slow service, wrong orders. I tried to get one more dish before we left, the huevos rancheros tostada but without refried beans. Saw it was going to take a while, and canceled. Still got the tostada, refried beans included. Asked for the bill, gave them our cards, and another server comes back with a new bill. No communication! Table next to us, even though they requested it 10 minutes before us, got their check after us. The only saving grace for this place was that the food was actually pretty good. The eggs were overcooked for the eggs benedict dishes, but the sauce was good; the flatbreads were delicious; the fries were nice and crispy, not oily; the beignets were soft and warm and sugary; the sliders were enjoyed; the wedge salad was tasty and had just the right amount of dressing; the shrimp and sausage grits were great, no uncooked hulls to be seen. Based on the reviews, I’d try them again during dinner or lunch. But never again for Mother’s Day brunch.

Greatest brunch ever. Mix have really surprised with an excellent brunch. There were four of us and we ordered different menu items; eggs benedict, omelette with goats’ cheese, avocado benedict, tuna tartare… All came out looking beautiful and tasted amazing! Go try it!!!

Tried the lomo saltado last night and it was absolutely delicious!!! The tuna tartare is always a favorite. Fish is fresh and was just delicious. Short ribs were fantastic. Very tender and flavorful. Gumbo was one of the specials last night and it was very yummy. Love it here and will be going back soon!

Fantastic food that is always reliable. Service also is great. Ask for Tony for your waiter. He won’t disappoint. And Hassan is great at front of the house. Décor is modern yet casual. Rear table in the back is my favorite. Beer list is great As for food, appetizers — hummus and flatbread are better than Cava. Calamari is great as well. For entrees, they are all great, although I like the shrimp and fettucini or the Chicken Pesto pizza the best.

Modern update on a local sports bar/watering hole. Great atmosphere with TVs viewable from any angle. The large bar extends almost the length of the restaurant. It’s truly the heart of the restaurant. Best date nite destination in Potomac. You almost feel like you may be in the city. Kids will be good if you go early and if you don’t mind them gazing at the TVs all dinner long. The menu is slightly updated from what is shown on Unilocal and the specials menu always greatly extends the regular menu. Veal Chop and Gumbo are just 2 examples available the last time we went. Food tastes exactly what you’d expect. New American.

Located in an otherwise unassuming strip center, the restaurant is actually a nice setting for lunch or dinner. The food is reasonably priced for Potomac Village, and the range of options on the menu is fairly broad. We started with the grilled calamari(very good), the duck spring rolls(a special, which were tasty and a small portion, nothing out of the ordinary) and the smoked salmon(quite good!). We asked for bread to go with our appetizers, and the only option was to pay for a large piece of grilled flatbread(basically, the base for the flatbread pizzas), which was a bit surprising. The steak frite was good but nothing exceptional. The steak arrived at the correct temperature, and the fries were freshly cooked and crisp. The Asian ribs were extremely tender and flavorful, though the sauce was too sweet, almost cloying. Service was acceptable but not great. We repeatedly had to ask to have our water glasses refilled, and after about an hour, it dawned on the staff to bring a pitch to the table rather than keep taking our glasses back to the bar for more water. My only major concern was with regard to a piece of artwork in the Men’s Room that had a young boy referring to a group of young girls as «bitches.». All three of us(guys in our 50’s) found it sexist and offensive. When I mentioned it to the manager, his response was«You are not the first person to mention that, but there is nothing I can do» From this, I assume that the owner is a fan of sexist and offensive humor, which I find somewhat troubling. Everyone is entitled to their own definition of humor, but if you are going to put it out in public, you should be more thoughtful.

Average is the best I can give Mix. Food was okay but didn’t really make an impact. Service and drinks were ok. Primary reason we probably won’t return is the noise level. Certainly, no one will overhear your conversation but you might struggle to hear across your own table. Narrow space with mostly hard surfaces help the noise level just exceed normal range. Maybe ok for a drink during a ball game.

It’s a fun little place with a huge bar that takes up all the room in the dining room. Service and food was pretty good. I wish they would replace those wood bar stools in the seating area by the bar. They are so uncomfortable. Also, the tables are really close to each other — I think it’s about 6″ between them. Had the tuna tartare to start and it tasted really good — but it’s such a small portion for the price they are charging. The Chinese braised short rib was pretty good, but I don’t know why they call it Chinese as I didn’t taste any Asian flavors. Wife had the 5 spiced duck breast(special for the evening) and that was fantastic. I would come back for that if it was on the regular menu. They do have a good beer list. I saw they were advertising Wings and Beer during football games. Will check it out.

Anyone who’s lived in the Potomac area knows there isn’t exactly a great selection of local bars/restaurants, much less those that cater to a younger crowd. As a result, Mix is probably overrated for being a big fish in a small pond. I’m willing to give it the handicap though, because this is a niche that is woefully underserved. From the modern décor, to the multiple TVs playing sports, to the loungey music selection, it’s clear that Mix is trying to cultivate the atmosphere of a trendy bar/grill in the city. While I can’t say that it would be anything special if it were relocated to downtown DC, it is a perfectly pleasant place to get late drinks with friends or brunch on a weekend while feeling like you’re «out» somewhere other than the sleepy suburbs. And sometimes that’s all you’re looking for. To paraphrase Jerry Seinfeld, we all want to be «out» somewhere. In terms of cuisine, you won’t find anything revolutionary, but it is a step above typical bar food. Gourmet appetizers like escargot and tuna tartare are rounded out by reliably tasty burgers and flatbreads. I personally really like the prosciutto flatbread, but I still have to try the more exotic items. Unfortunately, the pricing also takes a cue from city bars, although the portions are generous enough to not feel like you’re getting ripped off. As a side note, I’ve joked with several friends that this would be a great place to hit on cougars, seeing as how the bar is always attended by at least a few rich and bored-looking Potomac housewives.

I’ve been here many times and this place never disappoints. Great for pretty much any occasion: romantic, business, casual, family, etc. It’s hard to pick a favorite dish because everything here is delicious! The mussels, salmon, oysters, grilled calamari… The list goes on and on. Everything on the desert menu is amazing, not to mention their sweet-wine selection! Another plus– the staff and owners. Locally owned and operated, very interpersonal and welcoming. Definitely recommend this place!

Chinese Braised Beef Short Ribs… nothing more has to be said. One of the best braised short ribs I have ever had. Paired perfectly with some mashed potatos and a nice cold beer from the bar. They also have this flatbread and red(hot) dipping sauce which is a solid knock out. On my 3rd or 4th trip i got the crab cake to switch it up and it was just as good as the short rib. Fresh lump crab meat, nice crispy outside and went well with steamed brussel sprouts & bacon. Great place even if its a little pricey. Potomac needs more of these style restaurants since Flaps closed 10+ years ago.

Let’s see… lots to like and lots to dislike. About par for Potomac Village. Like: Great place to watch a game, festive, and they got the atmosphere piece of this right. Middle of the road: Food was good and bad. I liked the flat breads and my family was happy with their meals. That said, I had the ribs($ 14) and you get two(yes only two) that are absolutely smothered in this sweet and spicy sauce consistent with what you put on Chinese food. It was bad if not really bad. So fam says yes, I say meh on the food. Bad: The bar is cheap plastic consistent with what you would find in W hotel room. Just disappointed that they would not splurge on the signature piece of the bar(the actual bar). It is loud, which I didn’t mind, but you’re warned. Overall feel: Old men hitting on young waitresses, young men hitting on cougars… couples looking miserable in their marriage. Great people watching and worth a trip if you live in ptown.
