You will always get a smile from the wonderful staff at White Heron. Great food in a relaxed atmosphere and there is always parking

One of my new favorite places. I don’t even know where to begin. Iced or hot chai is awesome. It’s so good that I buy the loose leaf chai and make it in my French press at home when I need a nice cup of tea at the house. Baked goods are yummy! Fiancé has had more of the food than I have(my weakness is muffins) and he has loved everything so far! I haven’t had much of an issue with parking since I tend to hit it at more off times but I can see in peak times it would be more difficult to grab a spot. I think everyone who works there is awesome! Competition in coffee places is fierce in Portsmouth but I think white heron reigns over several others!

Lovely place for tea and salads :) parking in the lot is a bit dicey but walking is good for you! Great selection of loose teas(not in bulk) and nice atmosphere.

Love their loose teas… Great selection of organic teas for sale. For food I have only had the salad with chicken and avocado… Fresh and delicious. The smoothies are good too. It is a little more expensive but their ingredients are quality which I feel good about. Staff are consistently kind and friendly.

I love this place. I have been a coffee hound for a long time, and the past 20 years that has been primarily in the Portsmouth area. It had been a long time since you could get an excellent coffee for $ 2, never mind one that also comes with a refill. Great atmosphere. Outstanding variety of teas. The parking situation is not great, but that is not the fault of the owner. The food is a bit pricey, but I don’t come here for the food. I come here for the caffeine and the atmosphere, both of which I love. This is the place where I am most likely to meet up with whoever I’m meeting up with for whatever reason.

I’m never really feeling thrilled after leaving this place. It’s beautifully decorated and clean, but the food is just overpriced for what you get, really. The portions are small and the ingredients never taste particularly fresh… they almost remind me of a tv dinner meal. I do have to say their muffins, cookies and pb & j sandwich(lol, I know) are fantastic, but the lunches are just too overpriced and underwhelming. I’ll just go here for a sweet snack in the future.

I gave this place one more shot, I had a smoothie, they wouldn’t add banana to it… It was $ 7 and was 16 ounces, it was then awful to top it off and I threw it away. Never going back.

Love this place. Decided to try after reading the Unilocal review. Great Almond Chai and the guys that worked there were good, especially the guy who had just surfed in Malibu. Also bought a couple of their teas for home. Like the packaging and they look promising.

I normally work from home but today I was relegating to finding another spot from where to work while my house was bombed for fleas. Darn cats. I can’t believe I haven’t been to White Heron yet. They let me hang around and use their wi-fi for a few hours and I got to try their chicken burrito and fruity iced tea. The tea list is pretty extensive which can be confusing for the average non-hipster who doesn’t know the first thing about good tea. Thankfully, I received recommendations and a little help as I stared at the tea list with blank eyes. And everything was delish. This is a great spot to hang with nice people and a quiet atmosphere.

White Heron is a refreshing, modern coffee and tea joint in Portsmouth. I wasn’t sure what to expect being from the Midwest, but this place was very warm and relaxing. I got the huevos rancheros wrap which, I was pleased to see, was already vegetarian and made with local ingredients. The lemon-berry tea was sweet and summery. This place is a must-visit when we return to the east coast!

Not sure how I feel about this place. Maybe it was my hangover, maybe it was because of my expectations built up by friends. White heron is a place you go to with your mom’s best friend. The burrito tasted like pasta, but it was really hot. Pretty good but it’s no SOCAL burrito. I am spoiled. The price is heavy but the chairs are comfortable. I met a man with dress shoes and his zipper down, reading the sports page in the newspaper. I don’t do drugs but if I did, I would never go here due to the chance you will see one of your moms friends. The burrito should not taste like pasta, I imagine workers rolling out pasta on a bike in the back just for me. I will pursue white flour burrito places now. Thanks but no thanks White Heron. I love you but only because the pitcher of water was readily available to quench my hangover.

Where else in Portsmouth can you get high-end coffee for $ 2 with a free re-fill while you script away in a comforting, stimulating environment? Answer: Nowhere. Thank you, White Heron.

Had the local bean chili and a wrap. Both were yummy and the portions were big. I brought half the wrap home. We also bought a ton of tea — the red peach mate is my new favorite!

I can see why people like this place but for me it just doesn’t fly. Its a place I might go to 1x every 30 – 40 days. If you like better than average coffee and surfing coffee shop wifi for hours on end then you might love this place. I don’t do that… ever, so those types of spots don’t attract me. I rate based on food and price and atmosphere. The breakfast sammich(yes I did that) is good enough but by the time they nickel and dime you for every topping you want, its expensive and not worth it. The coffee is ok in my opinion. I expect better. Atmosphere is too yuppified hipster-ish with everyone looking like robots with apple earbuds in, again, might be why I don’t rock the wifi coffee-shops. Location is average at best. If you want to leave this spot and walk downtown… its a hike through mostly average areas until you hit the Mobil station area. The White Heron branding is good but inside here I think they would do themselves a huge favor by having worn couches to chill in, better mood lighting and more comfortable chairs overall. That might attract me more… Work on food, prices, coffee and add a couch and I will start coming more and change my review score accordingly.

Great energy. Fun staff that obviously loves their job. Food is fresh, healthy, delicious. My wife and I stopped in for a chai latte and ended up ordering smoothies, baked goods and the chai latte. This will be a mandatory stop every time we are in town.

What an amazing selection of black teas! I was stunned. The New English Breakfast is my new black, if you’ll excuse the Netflix reference. The space itself is beautiful, light, and airy, and they also have a great selection of things like Earl Grey jelly that are hard to resist. Better yet, everyone was friendly, including both the staff and the patrons. I was really glad to make a random stop here and enjoy a moment of peace and quiet. I’ve also really enjoyed the canister of New English Breakfast I took home!
