This was a great place to start a relaxing Sunday. Setting is stunning for a quiet morning cuppa. Food is good. Made fresh. Open earlier than most. Come to relax not bust in and out. They have brewed decaf and regular and both have robust flavor. They have a couple floors you can add though I didn’t use these. I had the Greek yogurt parfait and it hit the spot.

We’ve always joke about not wanting to tell anybody about Chandler’s Loft because it’s so great. When you go there you have to just sit back and relax and enjoy the view. If you’re in a hurry don’t come, they even have a sign stating that it’s going to take a while to get your meal. Bait, cool clothing, fishing tackle and the best coffee in Portsmouth. Robin is the best, she’s the owner, you enjoy being around her. Best view for breakfast and lunch. Remember don’t tell anybody about it.

From land or sea a great stop at the chandlers loft. Great egg sandwiches and ice coffee. Bait, tackle. Robin has it all. Great locals spot for the south end.

Imagine you spend the day out on the water fishing of the coast of Maine and NH. You look west and it’s clear one of those New England summer thunder storms is brewing. You head in to the mouth of the Piscataqua River when the storm reaches it’s full force. Heading through whitecaps, wind, driving rain and lighting, we finally made it through the storm and the famous Piscataqua river currents to the channel behind Pierce Island and to the boat ramp. With the storm still raging and low tide it was prudent to wait it out, so we tied up to the float across from the ramp. As quickly as the storm erupted, it blew through and things calmed down or so I expected. Our group was then greeted by Robin of the Chandlers Loft with«If you want to tie up to my f*$king float, you need to stop in my store and buy something.» Amazing way to introduce yourself and promote your establishment! She asked were we got our bait and told her from Suds N Soda in Greenland. She claims she’s been in business for 4 years, but with an attitude like that I doubt it will be much longer. Suds N Soda is run by fisherman and hunters for a long time and they will treat you fairly with good advice about local fishing knowledge. Save yourself the aggravation and steer clear of the Chandler Loft.

This is the most relaxing spot to have breakfast in Portsmouth. Okay, it isn’t a restaurant and it’s only open from Memorial Day to Columbus Day but this is the place if you’re looking for a light breakfast and a cup of coffee with the best view in town. Just look at the picture: We sat outside on the water, eating ham & cheese croissant paninis, with other locals, a few lucky tourists, and a dog named Beauregard. It was heaven. The Chandler’s Loft is primarily a convenience store for the local boating community. They sell boating supplies and provisions, but they also sell some basic convenience store items and crafts produced by local artists. They were recently written up in the local newspaper: and this place feels like a best kept secret. Until now.
