The staff here is always super helpful and polite. They are very knowledgeable about all of there drinks, which makes it easier on me, not wanting something with sugar. My order never takes longer than 3 minutes and when I pull up to the window, no matter how busy they are, they are still chipper and nice!

This is worth reviewing because as it stands, they still remember my order. FROMDRIVE-THRU. I can’t possibly be the only person that orders a 14-pump shaken black iced tea, can I? Or is my voice that memorable? I don’t know… So Starbucks has regular iced tea now, which is a long-time coming AND ludicrous at the same time.(Why would you order such? Doesn’t McDonald’s have a $ 1 tea?) I got a little confused by this in the drive-thru, as I attempted to order one of my usuals, the aforementioned. I said I wanted a 14-pump iced tea. They were like, «You want the iced tea or the black tea?» I really thought it was all just semantics, as I was unaware at the time that they started serving regular iced tea. Anyway, before I could clarify, another barista got on the speaker and explained to the main drive-thru barista what I meant. «She orders this all the time. She wants the black tea on ice, with 14-pumps of syrup.» Did I feel special or what? This is a very busy Starbucks in the morning because of its location. And they’re slow. And they sell out of breakfast sandwiches like none other. But they knew my usual, without seeing my face. How cool is that?

Well Starbucks will pretty much always be a Starbucks. This one is very clean and the staff always seem to be in a good mood. The coffee is always very pricey of course but you pay for what you get; the consistency and reliability that comes with a high end chain such as this. The drive thru feature is a definite plus for this location! It makes my purchases very quick and easy without ever having to leave my car!(That’s why I gave the extra star.)

I actually had a pretty good experience here. Granted I stay in the drive thru because I hate sometimes going into establishments just to grab one thing… plus I have a baby now and I don’t want to have to unbuckle him and bring him in… ANYWAYS on to the review. Since I have never been here before, I ordered something that I am familiar with. Something I know should taste great and taste the way I expect – A double chocolate chip frap. Yum. So that is what I ordered, a grande size helping of it. The woman at the drive thru was fun and uplifting. Lots of energy and personality – in other words great service. The frap was delicious by the way. With as much time as I spend now in Portsmouth I will definitely be back to try other flavors since they didn’t mess up my favorite thing to get.

We stop here before any medical appointments at the Naval Medical Center & love the service we receive. This location has some of the nicest baristas & they are always willing to work with us in creating our own unique drinks. The drive through is usually busy in the mornings due to hospital staff members stopping on their way to work, however, it moves along quickly. Definitely will continue to frequent this location.

Oh the morning unload of not getting the appropriate cup of coffee from the worlds leading coffee chain. Parking suitable. Staff impersonable, though I am seated at the bar right now and everyone seems very cheerful. I think it may have been the scenario they were in to come off impersonable, let’s review. Seating adéquate. My iced green tea… not what I wanted. So Starbucks comes out with this sweet Guatemalan roast called Casi Ciela, man this actually tastes good compared to just loading up a coffee with milk and sugar, props Starbucks, if only your locations served it. Oh wait, what’s that? One of your most holiest of locations has shown me the light of how Starbucks has french presses, a turkish setting on the grinder, and a pour over; this is AWESOME! Maybe it’s not out to all the locations? That doesn’t make up for a lack of effort. If you work in a coffee shop you should know how to make a coffee straight from the grounds by some alternate method than the drip. The scenario is as follows: I’m starting a new job out on the other side of the water, life is good. I set up to perform my new routine and head to Starbucks on Effingham, things aren’t bad, this should go fine. I order a Casi Ciela tall by whatever means necessary…“I’m sorry all we have is Italian Roast and Pikes Place.”. Me: You must be mistaken, take some beans, grind them and make a french press, pour over or turkish. whatever you have to do.” Poor(Definitely not ‘pour’) guy at the register: *Lean to other brewista«Do we do Casa Ciela? Kirsten: «No, all we have is pikes place and italian roast.» Me: *Lift bag of Casa Ciela conveniently next to my right hand Kirsten: «Sorry we can’t.» Me: *Faith again lost in yet another Starbucks that isn’t the one on Colley Ave in Ghent. Keep killing it Whitney! To this Starbucks, give them a call I’m sure they can help with how they do business differently. This is not the worst experience I’ve had at a coffee shop and I wouldn’t drive 10 – 15 minutes out of the way to just swing by. If you aren’t observant over your morning coffee, swing by. 1 star implies«Methinks not.» which I do think. Stay awesome! I hope things turn around when I try this out next.

This new and improved Starbucks location offers more foot traffic since its adjacent to the Chesapeake Square Mall. However, it’s still tiny because it’s in a strip mall that has limited real estate since it’s situated in a corner. This is my 3rd time here and was happy and impressed to see the«reserve» special and single origin coffees just like those I saw in Jacksonville Fla. And also a version of the«pour over» coffees offered. Glad I have this in my neighborhood next to Portsmouth 3 – 4 miles away.

I love how this Starbucks is so close to Olde Towne. The drive thru seems to always be busy, but they get orders out pretty fast, making it a short wait. I love the inside seating which feels very cozy. Sometimes when ordering at the drive thru, they will mix up your coffee with other orders. I unfortunately have gotten others coffee on numerous occasions. I didn’t realize until I had already drove away. I feel like this is an area of improvement for them. Yes, I could have gone back, walked inside, and got a remake of my correct order, but people on their way to work do not have the time to do this. It’s just disappointing paying so much $$ and not getting what I wanted. I still prefer the Coffee Shoppe off of High St. But when I need coffee early in the morning or late at night(or when I’m just plain lazy and don’t want to get out of my car) I’m glad Starbucks is near.

I’ve started stopping at this Starbucks nearly every morning during the week on my way to work. The drive thru is always fast, even with a line around the building. In 4 weeks, I’ve had only 1 issue with my drink and it was quickly remedied. The baristas are very friendly. and I really look forward to my stop here and my morning dose of caffeine.

Located in Olde Towne Portsmouth, this location is my most frequented. Hey, it’s closest to my job. The baristas are always cheerful & friendly. They take customer service & satisfaction very seriously at this location. One time I had to wait in the drive-thru for about 5 mins because there was a problem with the car’s in front of me order. When I got to the window, the manager came over & apologized, gave my order to me for free AND gave me a voucher for another free drink on a future visit. And I wasn’t mad or complaining when I got to the window. The food here is always fresh too. My favorite is the spinach feta cheese wrap. It’s so yummy! My daughters love the cake pops. My fave drink is the salted caramel mocha. My only complaint is that’s it’s a seasonal beverage so after winter is gone I’m one sad Starbucks addict lol. During my visit today, I used the drive-thru due to the nasty weather. After I placed my order & pulled up to the window, the friendly barista brought over a tray with samples of a new seasonal beverage — chestnut praline latte. OMG!!! If I hadn’t already ordered my salted caramel mocha I would have most definitely ordered that!!! It made my mouth so happy!!! But then again, I am an admitted Starbucks addict…

Located on the outskirts of Olde Town Portsmouth, I venture to this Starbucks because its right around the corner from the school I go to plus every now and again I’ll get lucky and catch a Nicole Livas sighting! YES! Lol! Some would say if you’ve been to one Starbucks then you’ve been to them all but that’s not the case. That’s like saying ALL McDonalds are created equal and if you’ve been on this earth long enough you know that’s simply not true! The baristas are what makes a Starbucks successful in my eyes and the baristas at this location are very good. Today, Starbucks rolled out the Pumpkin Spice Latte(PSL) and my barista put her foot in it! I’m sipping this thing slowly enjoying its rich flavor while closing my eyes and breathing in the aroma. Typically, I venture to Starbucks only for the regular black coffee(I know, boring) and rarely get the fancy smancy mixtures whether hot or frozen. But the few times when I DO decide to take a walk on the wild side and order some nifty thrifty triple extra hot quadruple shot caramel mocha delight thing-a-ma-jig, I have no reservations in trusting the baristas at this location to make it right the first time every time! Of note, this location has not installed the thermo nuclear hurricane strengthened hand blowers that are all the rage everywhere else. I think that’s a nice touch. The outdoor seating area/patio is a very good size with ample seating. Inside, there’s about six tables, three accent chairs(positioned in the standard«cozy corner»), and three bar stools facing the baristas. So I’d say there’s a good amount of seating although it does tend to fill up quickly during certain times of the day. Hmmm, what else? Oh yeah! This location has some of the highest vaulted ceilings I’ve noticed in a coffee shop. It feels like a sort of coffee tabernacle up in here! *CHUUURCH* There’s also a drive thru for the extra added convenience. Overall, well managed store with attentive and talented baristas.

Its too damn cold in here! I dont really understand why starbucks is doing this, but this isnt just this one– even the one on rt 13 did the same thing– cold enough to drive me out! I ordered a chai latte, it was way too liquidy. Granted i probably could have gone back to the barista to get it re-made, however she was in training, so i kinda felt bad. Also, because i had returned my banana chocolate cake since it had a hair in it, and i didnt want them to think i was just being a difficult customer. Besides that, staff was really nice, the location is kinda tricky, store is well kept. Just a usual starbucks, but colder.

I find it hard to say anything unique about Starbucks(which I guess is what they go for — mission accomplished!), so here’s the bullet list for a 0730 visit to this location: 1. Friendly barrista. Ordered a Venti Pike no-room and a toasted multigrain bagel with cream cheese. 2. Coffee — good and full to the brim. Bagel — came in a bag with reduced-fat cream cheese, which I didn’t notice until I took a bite of the bagel and noticed the texture difference. I didn’t ask for and didn’t want reduced-fat. If I’m going to enjoy a bagel and cream cheese, I want to enjoy vice endure it. 3. There are three seats at the bar, three 3-person tables and two 2-person tables along the wall. There are also two upholstered comfy chairs and one faux(?) leather one. Yep, that’s how exciting my visit was… I counted chairs. 4. Drive-thru. Which I personally detest as a general concept. Plays into the failure for Starbucks to stir up and excitement. 5. Seemed clean. 6. There is a nearby Geocache reported missing a few days ago. Bummer.

This is a nice, new-ish Starbucks standalone box store near the Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth. Always clean and with polite service, they serve up the standard(good) Starbucks fare. Latest entry in the pastry case is a new selection of petit fours & mini desserts.
