S & S Transmissions and Auto Repair

Being fairly new to Portsmouth and not knowing about cars or mechanics in the area, I was directed to S&S Transmission by Jiffy Lube. My car sounded terrible and my change transmission fluid light came on! I called and immediately spoke with the manager, Mark. He told me to bring it by as soon as possible and will take a look at it. To my surprise, he asked to take a ride in it with him, which already gave them bonus points in my book. We went for a ride around the block and he explained in detail to me what he was hearing and thinking. Not knowing anything about cars and being a female, that meant the world to me. He said initially that he didn’t like what he was hearing, so of course I am thinking the worst. After we got back to the shop, he told me he would take a look today, get back to me and give me a ride home. He lived up to his word on all parts… He called me later on in the afternoon and told me that he thinks I just needed a good oil change and a transmission fluid change and the cost would be $ 318…I was expecting much worse because of past experiences with other mechanics who always would tell me I needed much more than I did. He said lets start there and I will call you tomorrow and it should be done if all pans out. Sure enough, those basic needs was all i needed! And instead of expecting the worst, for the first time I met with an honest mechanic! I would recommend this place to anyone in the area! Even when i went to pick up my car, he offered me a ride back and explained everything that they saw and went through! Mark and his staff were exceptional, honesty, and now have a repeat customer! Dont think twice about calling these guys! It was nice to know for once I was told the truth and just needed the basics! These guys are the real deal! Thanks again S&S!
