It’s been over a year since I’ve had my hair cut and today I just needed it taken care of at last. Checked out Unilocal and found e-​clips which was right across the street from my bank, where I was at the moment. Called at 2 and spoke with Michael who took me right in. It’s in a wonderful old building with exposed pipe ceilings, big old windows, tiny Christmas lights here and there w tasteful decorations and old classics piped in over the radio. Love the atmosphere. Very friendly people. Michael was awesome. He listened to what I wanted in a hairstyle and gave me that and more. I have a problem sometimes when hairdressers chop off my bangs and they poof way up when I style my own hair. He didn’t hack my hair. He designed it. Clipped off my split ends and conditioned and styled it so when I walked out of there I felt fabulous. Thank you Michael! I really needed this today

I just recently moved away, but I went here for my haircut for years with Dyan B. She was the only one I trusted with my hair and she’s been doing this for 20 years.
The actual salon is very bright and open, and they have free coffee and tea with a reading area if you’re waiting. The staff is friendly and I miss going here :(

The wax I received here three months ago will be the last I get at this salon. I’d gone once before and not been overly impressed but decided to try again. This was a terrible choice. The waxing job was so inexpertly done that portions of the hardened wax had to be cut off with scissors. I’ve had many waxes and never experienced anything quite so uncomfortable or ineffective. I’ve had to wait much longer than usual to allow all the ingrown hairs that resulted to calm down enough to chance another wax. I was shocked when they allowed me to pay for such a poor service, and should have refused, but at that point I just wanted to take my painful bits home to a cold compress. When I do get another wax, it will absolutely not be at this location.

If you’re looking for an esthetician, you MUST try Amanda at E-​clips salon in Portsmouth. I moved to New Hampshire from London, and Amanda was my savior… she is better than most of the people I ever went to in the city (and that’s saying something). I’m now moving out of New Hampshire and very sad to be leaving this salon behind. Amanda’s website is:
