I loved working with Jony. She helped us with our home a few years ago and it really made a huge difference. She is very talented and extremely professional. She has a gift with color and helped us pick great colors throughout our first story and up to our upstairs hallway. The change in color was an amazing transformation, bringing warmth to the house. I have a lot of antiques and vintage pieces that belonged to my mother, and she helped me find a tasteful place for them and blend them with newer pieces. she also had a custom mirror made for over our fireplace that is gorgeous and perfect with the house. I also found her rates to be very fair. I figured hiring a designer would cost a fortune. Being able to hire someone based on their professional time was a good fit for us given we had so many of our own things we wanted to keep. I highly recommend Jony for anyone looking for interior design help. When I can afford to do the rest of my house, she is the one I will call!

Our living room was sad. We had a broken curtain rod over our 10×6 foot picture window and some dreary old drapes that we couldn’t easily open or close. Our wall color didn’t suit the room and frankly I was embarrassed to have people over. I don’t know anything about home decorating(not my thing) and felt like I needed to call in a professional. Like I often do, I turned to Unilocal.I found Jony Schwartz Design. It took a while for us to go ahead with our project. First we met Jony, checked her references(beautiful homes!) and we refinanced so we’d have a little wiggle room for our project. Then we decided what our priorities were and came up with a budget(isn’t that grown up?). So far we’ve done phase 1, and I’m really happy! Our house isn’t sad anymore. It’s still cluttered, so organizing is our next project. I didn’t know how much difference a professional with exquisite taste can make as a mood elevator. Huge. Jony is a pleasure to work with, with the exception that sometimes we don’t hear from her in a timely fashion. She doesn’t get offended if I don’t like something she’s offered — she likes my decisiveness and is patient when I’ve been indecisive. Phase 2 and 3 are somewhere down the road, but for now, we’re enjoying our new wall colors, window treatments, area rug, ottoman, chandelier, recessed lighting, sofa cushions, and hallway runner. Our house feels much more like a home now.

I have to express my extreme disappointment with the lack of professionalism shown by Jony Schwartz. I attended a design class she taught a while ago and was very impressed with her and her aesthetic so I asked her to help me with a few design challenges. I was very upfront that it was a small project and I was just looking for some help picking out a few pieces of furniture and tweaking what I already have.(a service she claims to offer) She came out for the initial free consultation and we had a very nice talk. She had great ideas and I was excited to work with her. When she left we agreed the next step was for her to send me a proposal. And that was the last I ever heard from Jony. I called her a few days later to let her know I was looking forward to getting her proposal and working with her. She never called back. I sent her an email and then another vmail. Nothing. The only thing I can assume from her silence is that the project was too small and she wasn’t interested. If that was the case, I would have understood. What is inexcusable and incredibly unprofessional is not responding to a potential client.

Hiring Jony is a little like staying at the Four Seasons for the price of the Marriott. Like driving a Porsche but paying Camry insurance rates. Like butter with all the benefits of olive oil. Like… okay, now I’ve gone too far. Not that I’m implying she’s cheap, because she’s not. But her interior design expertise is probably the best value for the money that I have had the pleasure to spend lately. Jony’s ideas are fresh, her style is impeccable, and her creativity actually did extend our budget by allowing us to re-use more of our existing furnishings and décor than we ever would have thought possible. Even though I’m far more facile with exteriors than interiors, I’m still pretty picky about design. I’ve got visions, I want moods, and I don’t easily trust the execution of those to anyone else. Did I mention I’m on a budget? But Jony is a first-rate interpreter of all those things, patiently reviewing option after option with us, not without her own opinions and recommendations(which were almost always spot-on), but always considering our input as well. Her effervescent personality keeps things light, even during life-or-death decisions about things like paint colors. And her proposals and purchase orders were unfailingly detailed and precise — professionalism that’s not always evident with us creative types. If you want your home to look and feel amazing on the inside, and enjoy the journey to boot, hire Jony and let her do what she does. It’s a little like getting caviar for the price of egg salad. No, wait…
