My kids learned to sail here, starting with the optis and moving up to the 420s. Well run club with affordable pricing for everyone. Summer camps for all ages!

Great summer camps. We’ve been going for three years. Fun, well-run, kids learn to sail. I only have the best things to say about everything related to WSC and their camps. Thank you for such a great experience on the river!

I can’t remember when the obsession began. Perhaps the Portland Boat Show where my youngest loved climbing aboard boats and pretending to be the captain. But this winter the idea caught fire and we had endless discussions about sailing. So when we were putting together summer camp options this year, a week of sailing camp seemed like a great idea. Lets see if this interest will pass or if it will become one of his passions. Through the recommendation of several friends, we enrolled him in Willamette Sailing Club’s summer program. The first lesson was that sailing is an expensive hobby. The week long camp was the most we paid for camps this summer, but it is a full day(they also have a ½ day option) from 9a — 4p in John’s Landing. My son had a blast and learned a lot this week. They started by learning basic skills and sailed back and forth to the island across the river. By the end of the week, they sailed up to Riverplace Marina for ice cream and back. At the end of the day when I’d arrive to pick him up, all the little kids would be jumping into the Willamette River and splashing around. So make sure you can take your kids right home and throw them in the shower. The staff were all very nice and great with the kids. Time will tell if he becomes a sailor, or just enjoys occasionally renting a boat. I’m pretty sure that he’ll return next summer for a refresher course. This was one of those weeks where I was pretty bummed I had to be an adult and work. I wanted to be out there on the river too. There is nothing like being a kid on summer break.
