I showed up at Vic’s salon at 530 Wednesday with no appointment for a haircut. Vic took me and stayed to give me a haircut. He is friendly and professional and did a great cut. The location is on NW23rd. The cut was $ 35.

I came to Vic Wolf’s Salon because my hairdresser, Amber, moved here after Dezi Salon closed, just a few blocks away. The location is very convenient; the space is small but cozy. But really, the reason why I go there is that Amber does a great job maintaining my short curly-slash-frizzy hair looking good. She’s great at what she does; she’ll cut your hair quickly and efficiently, she’s very friendly and talkative(if you like to chat), and she remembers all of her customers very well. She is a very good listener and will try to understand what you want: I brought with me a picture of the kind of haircut that I was looking for, and she cut my hair inspired by it, but in a way that works with the texture of my hair. I love that she takes cards with the Square system since I’m not a cash kind of person. Overall I’m very pleased with her and with this salon.

Vic is THEMAN when it comes to my hair. He is incredibly friendly, nice and reasonably priced. He is one of the many reasons that I miss Portland and I make it a point to stop by and at least say hi when I am in town to visit my parents. I have lived in several different parts of the country since leaving home(Massachusetts, Virginia, Rhode Island, Kansas City) but I have never found a hair stylist that is as fantastic as Vic. I’d like to give an example of his genius. Last time I saw him he asked how I would like my hair and I said, «I don’t know, I was thinking something a little different.» Now if course, I didn’t mean something crazy different, I just needed a bit of a change but at the time I had no idea what that might be. However, I still wanted to look beautiful. All I have to say is that Vic knows me better than I know myself. I have wavy hair that I usually blow-dry straight. I generally hate it curly because I think it looks like a poof-ball. He cut my hair in such a way that it looked fantastic wavy! Not only that, I didn’t even have to blow-dry it in the morning. I have very thick hair, so this was a HUGE time-savings. I live in San Francisco these days and so I don’t get to have Vic cut my hair all of the time and I am back to wielding the blow dryer every morning. However, I am heading home for Christmas and you can guarantee, I will make to to stop by and see Vic when I am there.
