Ai, that was a diablo of a good time! I love Barrio. I love it so much. Wine Nomad ever-changing vino available, plus rotating taps and Reverend Nat’s Tepache! YES, you want the spiced glass rim, when they ask you. It brings all the glorious flavors togethers. What exactly did we learn on Wednesday? –Turns out, all the carts take cards! –Melvin cannot resist forcing toy dinosaurs into positions of fornication. –Barrio will let you have a tab open! –The little market-within-the-market is selling some of the best salsa I have ever had, and fresh-frozen banana leaves for making Oaxacan tamales at home. Never see those! –Bulk Mexican cookies, bag of 18 for $ 5(thank you, Karen M!) –Tlayudas, a large pizza-lookin’ tostada thing, does not come cut, so be prepared to get messy manhandling it, or bring a knife. –Everyone loves grab bags. –Mary B will actually hold an animal(!), but only if it is a very tiny, special little pup. Excellent work, Jesy B. Thank you all who attended and donated to our PDX Unilocal AIDSWalk Team. Your generosity was wonderful, and remember, we’re going to get a match for total donations in the end so, keep ‘em coming! It was a really fun time catching up with everyone, playing with puppies, trying tons of different Latin foods, and pounding Tepache like there was no tomorrow. Huge thank you also to Tim, our main man at the bar, who not only donated to our cause, but was so nice and welcoming and let us take over his patio for several hours. As usual, I said I was only able to stay for two hours(start time: 5 pm)… and ended up being out til midnight. Olé!
