Uncle John’s has the best take out pizza on the West Side. The crust is thin. NY thin not thick and doughy. This is also a family run business and this family is great. They take pride in their pizza. It really is good. Uncle John’s is our go to pizza place.

Just moved to the neighbourhood and checked Unilocal for a Pizza. Found this little hole in the wall and the Pizza is incredible. The owners were super friendly! So happy to find a gem like this in a world of McBoxed foods. We will be going back again and again!

In a word… Wow! I discovered this little market that offers crazy-good pizza on a quiet Saturday night, looking over some Unilocal & google reviews for pizza offerings in our neighborhood. It got such high marks we had to give it a try. Driving up what appeared to be a basic independent convenience store in a residential neighborhood, I started to wonder about my decision. I didn’t need to worry. This. Pizzza. Is. Amazing. Truly Italian style, lightly chewy & delicious crust with just a hit of ‘wood fired’ crispiness. Inspired toppings on their ‘menu’ pizzas — all the standards with some lovely diversions. They don’t skimp on toppings and there is one size — ‘Huge’. (Our favorite menu pizzas so far: The Amazon & the Gladiator). Fabulous pizza, very kind/sweet people running the market & making the pizzas — it is *absolutely* worth a short drive for this kind of tasty.

Pretty good. Needed maybe another minute in the oven to crisp up the crust a bit to our liking, but we’ll give these guys another shot for sure and ask for crispy crust. They were generous with the toppings, too!

looks a little shady from the outside, but the people running it are unbelievably nice, and most importantly make AMAZING pizza. I got a half hawaiian/half Warrior(with added ham). Pizza was HUGE, crust was light but surprisingly sturdy(and flavorful). Pesto on the warrior was absolutely on point, and the caramelized onions took the whole thing to another level. Will definitely be returning here this weekend. There aren’t that many solid eateries in SW, glad that I found this gem.

A better pizza place in Portland I have not found. They are incredibly friendly and make such delicious pizzas! The pizza slices by the slice are ENORMOUS. Like 3 pieces in one. And when you buy a full pie it is not only affordable but delicious and worth every penny. They are also pretty funny in that they only serve one size of pizza, which is damn huge. My boyfriend is allergic to garlic and so we often get sauce-free pizzas, and I cannot believe how tasty it is! You know this guy can make a good pizza because he can do so even without sauce! Absolutely the best.

Wow. Unilocalers are right. This pizza is good. Like many others I have driven past this place hundreds of times and have been slightly amused by the sign advertising the pizza. I prefer my pizza crust on the thin side. The crust was perfect and they are very generous with the toppings. The price is right with an extra large pizza(16″) running about $ 17. They do have delivery for a small fee, but with online ordering, it is easy to order online before leaving work and pick it up on the way home. Since it is inside a mini-mart, it is easy to pick up beer to go with it.

Good pizza, friendly people. I usually order a pepperoni pizza with black olives and mushrooms, it is fantastic

Yes! I’ve found my go-to pizza joint! I had a tough day so I decided to eat my feelings AKA delicious pizza. The pizza in SW Portland is lacking. Aside from Roundtable, there isn’t a whole lot around here. Was pleasantly surprised with the size, quality, and yumminess of the pizza here. We got the Combination, and everyone loved it. 16″ of fresh ingredients for only $ 22? I’ll take it!

I’ve lived in this neighborhood for over 10 years and passed by this place more times than I can count writing it off as a joke. How could a convenience store have good pizza? I was wrong… I was so very very wrong. This place has some of the best pizza I have had in Portland. OK… it is no Kens or Apizza Scholls but for your standard take our pizza this is top notch. This pizza is thin crust… not cracker thin and crisp but sort of a New York style thin crust yet somehow airier and perfectly baked. We got the Amazon and I added artichoke hearts and gorgonzola. This was some seriously amazing pizza. Oh… and it is HUGE. One size 16″ pizza that barely fits into the box. The owner is very nice and genuinely wants you to enjoy his food. I live 5 minutes away and this will be dangerous knowledge to have. Don’t make the same mistake I did passing this place by… stop in and get a pie and you won’t regret it.

Worst pizza ever. Their dough was so thin it looked like paper. And they charged me $ 3.00 per slice instead of $ 2.75, which was on their menu. Never going back there again.

Oh my goodness, what a great surprise to find in southwest Portland. I swung in for two slices of pepperoni because I can’t take another puffy slice of Pizza Schmizza’s(sorry, guys! No hard feelings!), and I’m glad I did. Absolutely gigantic, falling off the plate, perfectly thin NYC style slices. I’m probably going to go back for lunch tomorrow! Check it out, everyone! Exploration can yield rewards!

We ordered a basic ½ Hawaiian ½ pepperoni and tomato. My wife, 10 year old daughter and I all thought the pizza was tasty. The man who i paid was friendly. A large pizza is actually a large. There are lots of long skinny slices, which I prefer over wide slices. I wish they had an online menu or website. We will be back.

This place is a prime example of why you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover. The pizza here is fantastic, and if you prefer going by the slice, the slices are huge and a great deal.

When I think mini mart I dont’ usually think great pizza, but now everytime I get a chance to drive by Uncle Johns market I do, just so I can pick up a slice of thin crust pepperoni pizza. Is there pizza that is better than this, maybe but I doubt it, is there pizza served in a nicer location yes, but overall if you have not tried the pizza here, you have been missing out on something in life. The slices are huge, the amount of dough to sauce to pepperoni is perfect though. Most places are either to doughy or to saucy, not here. They have pizza by the slice and whole pizza’s so whether its lunch or dinner its a great place to go. And they have a lot more accessories to go with your pizza than any of the normal pizza chains.

Mrs. Burgerdogboy came back from an outing with her pals at , with a most unusual rave — no, not the latest in intimate playthings for couples, but rather a tip on a pizza her husband must try! So Sunday nite she urged us out the door as the punctuation for a week we have both been suffering from the Portland winter crud sickness — either as a very loving jesture or in fact as an excuse to pick up some ice cream — the cure all for any known feminine malady. We motored over to Uncle John’s Market in Burlingame, long the destination of Portland pizza whisperers, but heretofore unvisited by Portland’s leading«pizza expert.»(Moi). So here’s the drill. There is a strictly take-out pizzeria inside this neighborhood market, offering slices or one-sized(x-large) pies to go, with your choice of toppings. The mistress of Scarletgirl had recommended the pie as a thinner crust rendition of typical NY pizza, a two-handed slice, and she was spot on in both her description, and her understanding of what Burgerdogboy likes. We grabbed a single slice of pepperoni for $ 2.75, and both enjoyed noshing on it on our way to ice cream land. It’s thinner than typical NY pie, bordering on a cracker-thin, crispy slice, with nice cheese bubbles and a little char on the crust. I grabbed a take-out menu, as it’s near to impossible to find details(or a phone number) for this neighborhood gem online. For a quick slice in SW Portland, hit up Uncle John’s, or call ahead and order a large pie to go, or to enjoy al fresco(in your car) as we did!

Where else can you eat a gourmet slice of pizza while sitting amongst canned goods? Where else but Uncle John’s Market which houses Burlingame pizza. I’m not sure but these seem to be two independent business housed in one location. You also have to go through the market to get to the pizza counter. The market is a quick stop which stocks all your beer, wine, soda, etc., and as mentioned a variety of canned goods, chips much like your 7 – 11. The pizza there is completely worth the trip. If it’s a slice you want, great they have it there and will warm it up for you to eat there at the picnic table in the store or take it with you. You can also order a whole pie if you want. I usually call ahead for this as I don’t want to wait around in the store for it. I would check the listings for Burlingame Pizza as I think they have a different number than the store itself. This is an unusual set up to be sure but it works. Just watch the dates on the newspapers in the store. I once bought a week old Sunday paper from them as I didn’t notice and they were kind enough to sell it to me. Now, that no one buys the paper it really doesn’t matter. They used to have a limited delivery service of pizza but I’m not sure they do that any more. Call to check. I’ll be back for more pizza offerings.

When my boyfriend suggested we try this place I was not exactly jumping up in the air to try it. «Are you sure? It’s in a mini-mart.» I said. He assured me the piece of cheese he tried was pretty amazing. So, we ventured over and ordered The Knight– $ 18, salami, olive, mushrooms, and red onion. This was the perfect balance of salty to dough to veggies. The owners are super sweet and courteous to their customers. The pizza was ready in about 15 minutes and it was so big that the whole thing didn’t fit into the box all the way! So worth the drive and the money! The only downside is that ordering take-out is pretty much your only option unless you find eating in mini-marts your kind of atmosphere. who knows, maybe you do. Just try it once. I dare ya.
