OK everyone notes the whoopee pies for a reason, I was even surprised at how awesome they are. The pies — the fillings are heaven, the crust is average. Mixed feelings on this place. I have another pie place with scrumptious crust and OK fillings. If I could put the two together, I could corner the market on pies… seriously. Worth the trip for some items, and others not so. Toss up on this one.

You can tell two, fat cats uses fresh, quality ingredients in their baked goods. You absolutely must get a mini pie here and they have a multitude of fruit variations to choose from. You also must must get a whoopie pie with its rich chocolately cake and creamy, lightly sweetened buttercream frosting. Docked a star just because there was no seating in the tiny bakery so you couldn’t decide to go back for seconds once the first serving was gone. –Vicki

I have grow up telling people that I do not like fruit pies at all. I have never ordered them any where and I was not about to start. but my father-in-law loves blueberry pie and during our vacation to the area, he wanted to stop and get some here. Well the pie was huge and he offered everyone some bites so I said sure. WOW! I was blown away by the crust and fruit filling. Unlike anything I have tried before and I COULDNTSTOPEATINGIT! This surpasses anything I have ever tried and would recommend any one who likes fruit pies at all to stop here(or even people who don’t! Try it! You might be as surprised as I was!)

My absolute favorite bakery in town. Every holiday season we have Two Fat Cats Bakery cater the treats for our office open house. They always do a spectacular job and our clients always rave about how wonderful the food is and want to know where it came from. This year the pumpkin chocolate chip cookies were one of the favorites. My husband is also a huge fan of the sour cherry pie and although I’m not a cherry pie person, he tells me this is the only place in town to get the best one. I pick him up a small one from time to time and it has never let us down. I highly recommend the shop to all of my friends looking for a delicious treat or a pie.

Local bakery with all you’d expect of a locally owned bakery … Homemade pies, cookies and other baked goods. If I lived here I’d be a regular! Very close to the cruise ship terminal too.

There’s nothing like a little afternoon whoopie, my thoughts as I noticed their pies from across the room. My attention quickly shifted to the little puffy pillows they call«pocket pies». Then I noticed the waving hands of the various larger pies standing in line waiting for me to buy one of each. Maybe I shouldn’t have come here on an empty stomach, sure glad I did though! My review will be basic because I only purchased 4 pocket pies. It started with two and the total price was under the minimum $ 5 credit card purchase so I grabbed another. As I was completing my purchase the very last pocket was sitting there with a pathetic look on it’s face. So I did what any kind-hearted pie lover would do, scooped it up and added it to my purchase. The staff seemed very friendly and everybody in the bakery looked happy. That’s all I need in order to come back. You can’t go wrong with pie from a reputable bakery like this. Both the apple and blueberry were delicious. Can’t wait to try the pumpkin!

Upon entering Two Fat Cats, a man told us we were headed to the right place with the best blueberry pie in town. I don’t know if he was right but I wouldn’t be surprised! I bought a mini blueberry pie and the crust + blueberry filling were scrumptious. Crust was nicely browned with a sweet glaze and not too crumbly. Blueberry filling was delightfully chunky.

Stopped in here briefly upon arriving in Portland and my review is based on one thing, their blueberry pies. A coworker said this is a must have, and she was right. The crust was crisp on the outside but not overcooked, just like mom makes. They used the small wild blueberries that were not overly sweet. All of the pies looked delicious!

So I have had the pleasure of getting fantastic baked goods here on a few occasions and each time I’ve been pleased. I recommend their pies very highly especially the Strawberry Rhubarb which is almost too good. It’s a small place right next to Miccuci’s Italian Grocery on India street(look for the Vespas… not true but fun to think about) I went there over the summer and needed a pie fix. When I was there a very touristy family from stupid city had invaded the small establishment. Now to be clear I walked in first and was looking at the pie display and they trampled in shortly after. Imagine a Black Friday sale if they were all goats zipped tied together. Having said this I find goats to have a higher intelligence than this group but for visual purposes it works. They started asking their stupid goat faced questions interrupting other human patrons and began to push me out of the way to see the pies. I decided instead of causing more of a scene I would look at the pastries which are also delightful when an older female goat tourist gnawed free of her ziptie to push me again to get a cookie and interrupt my transaction. At this point I’m thoroughly irritated but I am also cognizant that I am a large man about to have a hissy fit over cookies. So I remain calm until she attempt to pay for a single cookie with a credit card to find that there is a 5 dollar minimum. Now I agree these can be frustrating because it’s 2015 and cards are how many of us pay for things but I also know its fruitless to argue this with a proprietor. Since this goat tourist is a goat tourist they of course did. This prompted me to step in and add her cookie to my purchase which caused G.T. To start to thank me profusely even though it hadn’t occurred to her I was paying her to leave. I was still nice until she turned to say«enjoy your vacation!» That was all I could take I responded with«THISISMYHOME! I’m NOT on VACATION!» I then muttered like a crazy person about goats and respect no doubt confusing their goat brains. All in all excellent unbelievable pies, pretty great pastries, bad credit card processor charging them too much, and needs a policy on farm animals.

There were so many items to choose from, it was tempting to buy the whole lot, but I stuck with the PIE. I came here for the pie, and the sliced pie I chose was Blueberry! This good sized quarter of a pie was delicious. Plenty of blueberries and blueberry juice, and the crust, was buttery and crisp. We arrived about 10 am, and there was a lot of selection. Stop by and give this a shot! Enjoy

Swing in after lunch to get a couple cookies and a whoopie pie. The whoopie pie tasted a little stale already. The cookies were okay. Nothing to write home about, but a decent bakery. It felt a little expensive for the few items we got.

I don’t think there is any question that is place has delicious baked goods, but I can truly only give it 3 stars because of the service. I went there to pick up cakes and pies for a wedding. Upon arrival, which the time was predetermined, they looked at me like I had three heads. The items weren’t packed up and they gave us the wrong amount of pies. Luckily I checked with the bride to see what the order was before leaving. If you are ordering something from here makes sure you give yourself plenty of time.

Lots of tasty treats to try here! The staff is extremely friendly and the prices are reasonable. They are known for their whoopie pie so I had to try it! It looks very rich but it actually tastes really light. The cakes were moist and very fluffy. The cream filling was generous and not too sweet. Also had a delicious iced coffee :)

It was only by chance that I found out about Two Fat Cats. I recorded a recent PBS show called A Few Good Pie Places since the description said from Minnesota to Maine. Two Fat Cats was featured and was known for the two desserts I had to try in Maine, the wild Maine blueberry pie and the whoopie pies. Day 2, after sleeping for almost 11 hrs after 36 hour of no sleep, we were on the road to Portland by 8am to have pie for breakfast. They only have one flavor sold by the slice with the rest whole pies only. Luckily the slice of the day was the blueberry pie so we did not have to buy a whole pie as I was that determined to have blueberry pie. Of course after eating our slices we were almost wishing we had a whole pie. That gave us room to get whoopie pies as well, which was supposedly created in Maine. If you have never had one before, it is ultimately a cookie sandwich but instead of cookies, the cream is sandwiched between two soft cookie sized cakes. Another hit!

Two Fat Cats did our wedding cake, and we could not have been happier. I grew up in Maine, but we were coordinating the wedding from Denver, and they were so helpful and responsive as we sent inquiries and set up dates. When we finally made it in for our tasting, they were super friendly and the tasting was really fun — and yummy! My fiancé was not able to join us for the tasting, but they made a mini-wedding cake for him to taste when he flew in a couple days later, which was great.(I should also mention that every time we went we would also pick a yummy pastry, a lemonade, a coffee… it is hard not to love this place!) The actual cake was amazing for the wedding and got rave reviews — we wanted just a simple cake, and they really were able to do that, but it was oh-so-delicious and they added blueberries per my request. They even made a birthday sheet cake for our friend, that we were able to serve the same night. Every time we go back to Maine for a visit, we stop by. I recommend them as a bakery for a sweet treat, and highly recommend them for wedding cakes!

The mini blueberry pie was remarkably not sweet and was quite tasty. The crust has a croissant vibe to it.

This review is for their whoopie pies only as that is what I always get when visiting Portland and 2 Fat Cats. This is my favorite place to get whoopie pies from and I always buy at least two per visit. Their whoopie pies are 5 stars and beyond. They are a homemade chocolate cake with a fluffy, light vanilla cream filling. It doesn’t have that granulated sugar filling that other whoopies may have. It’s all super fresh including oven baked crisped edges. Make sure you visit 2 Fat Cats early as they sell out of their freshly baked whoopie pies quickly — I made that mistake upon my first visit.

A friend from Boston recommended. Walked through driving rain and it was worth it. The smell of baked sweets blasts you as you come in the rather industrial shop. It’s about the baking not seating. They have outdoor and no indoor. We were able to take our goods to s nearby café on the same block… CBD carries their goods. Pies of my dreams… and my wife wouldn’t go for buying one… rhubarb paired with and fruit… sour cherry… blueberry…crazy! I needed breakfast so I got a savory pastry called the Portlander… carmelized onion, cranberry, mushroom… goat cheese!!! Delicious. They make extraordinary whoopie pies… I’ll get one next time.

This place is legit one of my favorite bakeries on the East Coast literally for one thing: the chocolate whoopie pies. Holy guacamole, the chocolate whoopie pie here is about as good as pastries get. It is really light, not amazingly sweet, and the filling is like a combination of marshmallow crème and buttercream. The pumpkin whoopie pie is also great. This bakery doesn’t have quite the notoriety of some other nearby spots, but every time I go to Portland these are the only pastries I ever absolutely Have to pick up. Of the pies I have only had the blueberry and, while good, it doesn’t really compare to the whoopie pies. Though, I have to say the the actual pie filling is pretty amazing and fresh. The blueberries they use are obviously really local and really delicious. Anyway, I just like it here a lot. It is in this really cute old building and the people working here are cool. But y’know, I would go wherever I had to in order to get my hands on one of those chocolate whoopie pies.
