Larry came out and gave me a fair estimate to remove a tree and it’s roots that uplifted a sidewalk in front of my house. While he was there he even took care of an old stump in the back yard. A few months later he just happened to be driving by my house and noticed that a few twigs had sprouted from where the original tree had been removed and pulled over to do a little follow-​up maintenance without me even asking. That’s what I call great service! Thanks again Larry.

Larry’s company was referred to me by a friend who had her laurel bushes cut and the stumps ground. She told me he did it for a good price. When I initially called and left a message, I didn’t get a call back (I’ve had plenty of good work done by small companies that take a second call to get through). I called the next day, and he called back. We set up a date and time of his choosing for Larry to come out and give a quote. On the agreed upon day, 10 minutes after he was suppose to show up I called, his cell phone was off and went directly to voicemail. I left a message. I called again after he was 40 minutes late, and again left a message. Larry did not call back that day, and he never actually bothered to call back at all. Maybe he does good work, but he wasted my time and was unprofessional in not showing up and not bothering to call back. I’d say if you have a lot of time on your hands and want to take the chance on him not showing up, go with his company. If you have a job that needs to get done and your time is valuable, I’d recommend skipping this company, not wasting your time, and going with someone else from the get go.

Completely unprofessional and lacking basic courtesy. I contacted Treehappy over Labor Day weekend and left a message saying I was interested in getting an estimate and was hoping to meet with someone on Friday, my day off. Larry called me back on the following Tuesday and left a message saying Friday was wide open and would be great, any time after 9:00am. I called the next day and left a message suggesting 9:30am and asked for a call back to confirm. I never got a call back to confirm. I tried calling twice more in the next couple of days and left detailed messages each time and still no return call to confirm the Friday morning appointment. I still went to the rental house on Friday morning just in case Larry showed up, but he did not. Larry finally called me around noon that Friday and we were able to talk in person. He apologized for not getting back to me and offered to meet me the following Friday at the same time. Said he was «willing to put it behind us» if I was. Yes, I’m willing to give someone another shot. So the following Friday I showed up at 9:20am and waited until 9:55 and there was no Larry, no phone call, no message. I tried calling him several times that morning and left messages. No response. Ever. I was floored. I have never had a contractor be so completely unprofessional. Unheard of in a small business that I’m sure depends heavily on referrals.

We got quotes from several companies and Larry saved us a few hundred dollars over the other companies we contacted.

It was a pretty big job taking out 2 large trees, 3 stumps, ground cover and a couple smaller trees. I figured it would take more than a day. In just 6.5 hours the crew had done the entire job, along with a stellar clean up job.
I would highly recommend calling /​emailing Larry for great tree service.

Two huge limbs of our maple trees came down during the recent windstorm, and we were on the search for a crew who could cut down the limbs which were nearing close to the power lines in order to make sure that we and our neighbors were safe.
I called 4 different tree services, which had a wide range of prices, everything from $ 875 to $ 1500! The $ 1500 price had said they’d have to hire a crew of 3 people and would be at our house all day. Yikes! We didn’t hire them.
Then, I contacted Larry at Treehappy by email. Because we didn’t hear from him for 3 days, he apologized for the late response, saying that he usually responds better to voicemails, but how could I know that? he reasoned. I appreciated his apology, and his warmth, directness, and his willingness to reach out.
During his free inspection, he offered the lowest fee (not knowing the other estimates), and also discussed with great wisdom, what might need to happen in years to come (to take down the tree as it was mostly dead), as well as the city permit we would need to get, as these were city trees. He assured us that it would be finished within a few hours, and it was! They also cleaned up all the debris, including debris that they did not cut down!
We hired him on the spot!
I liked that he worked with us within our price range, that his crew was incredibly efficient, and also responsible; one of the guys accidentally trimmed 1 extra limb and offered us money for it! Of course, we didn’t take it, but his and Treehappy’s level of accountability was extraordinary!
We couldn’t be happier! I see why Treehappy has its name! We are so happy, and you can bet that we’ll be calling them again when that tree needs to come down!

A recent wind storm took out half a tree in our backyard. I called a few places for quotes to take it out (not an urgent removal) and Larry at Treehappy was the most accommodating and truly the friendliest. He wasn’t even the cheapest (but still competitive). Larry and his small crew worked hard to remove our tree and the stump. They went above and beyond when they were done to make our yard look better than it did before the tree fell. Highly recommend these guys!

Larry is the nicest guy ever. He and his crew did a great job trimming our tree. Reasonably priced, and cleaned up our whole front yard when they were done. Stop reading Unilocal reviews and hire Larry right now.

I cannot recommend Larry and Treehappy more. Larry gave a very competitive bid and trimmed two large maples, removed two trees as well as a row of arborvitae. He is a very sweet guy to deal with … honest and thoroughly explains his work. His team is professional and efficient. After he left, all our neighbors came over to ooh and ahh … thank you Larry! I will definitely use Treehappy in the future.

Larry and crew do an excellent job at an affordable price. I used them at my last house to do some trimming and thinning on some big trees, and now I’m here to look them up and use them again at out new house.

I was very happy with Larry and his team’s work. They were friendly, efficient, and affordable. I would recommend Tree Happy to anyone, and would also use them again the next time I need tree trimming or removal.

Very happy with Larry and crew. We had a tree limb removed that was leaning on our garage. When Larry arrived to cut it down, he realized that he needed to remove a lot more than he had first realized when he gave the quote. Nonetheless, he stuck to the price. He and his crew were all very friendly and seem to really enjoy what they do. Larry was happy to explain any aspect of the work I had a question about. I am a pretty tough customer but this is one of those rare cases where I will be calling this company again in the future with zero hesitation.

After having a tree removed that was interfering with a jumble of overhead utility lines I can certainly add my 5 star rating to the list. Larry and his friendly crew took down the tree in less than 1 ½ hours and left the chipper pile as I requested. As previously reported, the cleanup was exceptional.
Since the tree was close to the street right-​of –way, Larry put me in touch with a colleague who steered me in the right direction at the City of Portland Forester’s office. Questions were resolved promptly and the job got done shortly thereafter.
I applaud Larry’s attention to safety on the job. The entire crew followed best practices with protective gear in place. Hats off for a job well and safely done !

I agree that Larry and his crew are the best. We had a large tree removal, tree trimming and a huge holly tree reshaped and they did an excellent job. We got three bids and Larry was the most competitive in price as well.
Most importantly he’s a great guy and his crew is very pleasant. They work hard and as other reviewers have said, their cleanup is incredible.
One thing to keep in mind is that he is so busy now and so it might take a few days for him to return your call, but trust me, its worth the wait! A great company. We would definitely use again.

I can’t say enough good things about Larry and Treehappy. These guys are pros. They come when they say, do as they say, give fair estimates of time and cost, get the work done and CLEAN UP so well your yard will never look better.
They have done work for us twice and we would hire them again in a second.
They have removed trees, ground stumps and pruned. They removed sections of fence so they could access our trees and put them back nicer than how they found it. All the work was super. I would give 6 stars but that isn’t an option.

If you are needing any kind of services related to trees on your property, call Larry. I called Treehappy to get an estimate after I saw everyone’s positive stories and enthusiastic reviews. Larry returned my call a few days later, and since it wasn’t as quick of a response as he would have liked to provide, he offered to come check out the trees I needed to have trimmed that very afternoon. Realizing what day it was, he added, «Is that crazy? It’s Saturday.» I laughed and said no problem, head on over. A half hour later, I was outlining what I thought needed to be done, he agreed, gave me some feedback, advice on keeping my yard and trees healthy, wrote up a bid, and was on his way.
His bid was extremely competitive and before he’d even pulled away from my house, I was ready to hire him for the job. I called him back a few days later, and left a message. I knew from reviews that Larry has a small, quality operation, and gets really busy, so sometimes he isn’t able to return calls as quickly as he’d like. My project wasn’t urgent, so I didn’t worry about it. When Larry did call me back, he was sincerely sorry for the delay. We figured out a day he’d be in my neighborhood for another job and I asked if I could get the mulch they made out of my branches. He said that wasn’t a problem.
Today, Larry and his team came out. The three of them were extremely nice, professional, and knowledgeable. They gave me a ton of mulch, joked with me while I raked it out and they trimmed up the tree. When they were done, they thoroughly cleaned up the area, including some smaller branches I’d trimmed myself and piled against the fence. They cut some larger branches into firewood and stacked it in small, neat pile for me.
I don’t think I’ll be looking up another tree service any time soon. These guys are the best.

Having Larry and his team work on the trees of our new home was great. I can confirm what many others have said: Larry is responsive, punctual, and professional. The TreeHappy team were on time, worked on 5 trees and several shrubs on schedule, and charged exactly as was bid. They did not leave a branch or leaf behind.
Moreover, Larry was helpful and courteous to our new neighbors who were concerned about a limb (from our tree) that went over their roof, and helped reach an agreement to split the cost to remove it.

I got quotes from several different companies and Tree Happy not only had the lowest quote, but they were also the friendliest and got the job done on a gigantic Holly tree in my back yard and they stacked the firewood for me!

Treehappy is the bomb. Larry was really nice and spent his Sunday by himself grinding out a pain in the ass Tree of Heaven stump I had in my backyard, which remained from the aforementioned tree I had removed. The quote he gave was cheaper than the other guys, and he certainly didn’t skimp on the job. Larry spent the better part of that day, grinding the son of a bitch down and then I helped him remove some of my back fence that was interfering so that he could make sure he got as much of it as he could.
Super nice guy, and above and beyond kind of work. Larry also offered me free advice on how to care for a few of the other trees I had on my property while he was loading up. Thumbs way up!

TreeHappy is awesome. They took out a pine tree, a juniper bush (hate those things) and a Hawthorne bush/​tree/​pain in my butt prickly thang.
