Tool Shed Ted’s

Considering how small this «shed» is, they’ve got a very decent selection of new and used tools: everything from ladders, to rakes, wheelbarrows, shovels, saws, power tools, gloves, rope, and gardening tools.
What’s really nice is that everything is sold individually, so if you only need one specific size of a wrench, screwdriver, ratchet adapter, etc, you can purchase just the 1 piece you need instead of an entire set.
Some items (mostly the used ones) are price way less than your average tool store (think Home Depot, Lowes, Fred Meyer hardware dept, etc), however for new items like shovels, saws, wheelbarrows, etc I really don’t think there’s much of a discount.
If you need a cheap tool, you don’t mind if it’s used, and you’re close by, it’s probably worth at least stopping by to take a look to compare prices.

Like a treasure chest for the home DIYourselfer. Amazing prices, every tool I’ve bought is still going strong. Why go anywhere else?

Please do your research. The prices offered here are about the same as; the dollar store, the pawn shop, and all the regular retailers.
The customer service is crap.
They buy tools from these thieves running around your neighborhood stealing from your garage.
This place is not worth your time.

This place is AWESOME!!! If you need a tool, #@%$ Lowe’s, go here. Super cheap, and they pretty much have everything you can think of.

When you’re driving on Powell, you will unmistakably notice a huge pile of tools out front that looks like someone’s having a yard sale. This place has a character and fun to browse. It’s like a mix of pawn shop/​Value Village and Harbor Freight Tools.
Sales are final, no returns, so know what you want and check items out carefully before you commit to it.
I would personally focus on the good, used stuff. If you’re getting something more complex than simple hand tools, know what you’re looking at or bring someone who does and stick with brand name, so you can find replacement parts down the road if needed.
The good:
Lots of loose used sockets, wrenches and screw drivers.
Selection that ranges from common tools from Home Depot to some obscure huge wrenches and sockets you will only see in commercial truck repair shops. When you go Goodwill (which is just another cut throat corporate store with «non-​profit» status on paper…) its just by luck to run into tools you need.
Some high quality used hand tools and cool stuff from turn of early 20^th century.
The bad:
Brand new stuff sold under ITT brand and others with seemingly good prices. These are mass produced Made in China tools and in my opinion, comparable to what you get at Harbor Freight, but without the return privilege. Think of these as being there for pure convenience to fill the gaps between what you need and used items you can find, so don’t have to make a trip to Harbor Freight.
Used house brand Harbor Freight tools which include US General, Central Pneumatic/​Forge/​Macinery, Pittsburgh, Chicago Electric, as well as no name tools. Definitely not get power tools of these brands. Parts are very difficult to source. They’re usually not durable and meant to be owned and abused/​exchanged within HFT’s 90 day warranty period. Heck, some are broken right out of the box.

I LOVE this place. As new homeowners, we had absolutely nothing that we needed to care for our yard and home. I got every single garden tool imaginable from Ted’s…and paid a fraction of what I would have at home depot. The people who work there are nice and quite helpful.

Nice store. Great prices and good ppl. A lot of used and new tools. I only go there to buy my tools. They get new staff all the time and sometimes you can find expensive items for cheap. My #1 stop to get tools.

This place is a resource!!! Although they do stock new merchandise it’s more like a tool thrift store. Whether you’re looking for a pitchfork or a gas heater that looks like the ass end of a jet engine this is the place. Those who only buy brand new (and poorly made) stuff at giant home improvement stores in suburban strip malls should steer clear, but I personally don’t care if a hammer looks well used and older than me when it only costs a dollar!

Ted’s has everything. I mean everything. You want that tiny little edger so your four year old can feel useful? $ 2. The staff is friendly and they will dig through piles of old, sharp and nasty shit to find the tool you’re looking for. I have bought several ladders, shovels, hammers, saws, rakes, etc. from here and am always satisfied with these quality, used products.
The only drawback is, sometimes the business closes at odd hours for no reason. It would be fitting if they at least hung up a «Gone Fishin’» sign, but there is never an explanation. So don’t go here if you are shopping for tools to put out your house fire, but other than that, it’s great.

This place is a home repair, do-it-yourselfer’s wet dream. It is stock full of any kind of tool you can imagine, most of it being used, but they do have a fair amount of new stuff too. We stopped by to pick up a ladder and some pruning tools, and ended up spending way less than we would have going to one of the big box stores.
