Good local place. Grew up around the corner from here. Tonight was my first time back in several years. Still great service and still delicious. As a kid I was a vegetarian and always loved the tofu bento. My dad always loved the salmon burger. Tonight I got the steak teriyaki and it was perfectly seared. The sauces were so so but good ingredients otherwise. Good happy hour offerings and a nice porch. I will be back!

The wife and I had a pleasant time here. Atmosphere was cozy, service was good, and prices were reasonable. The food was average, unfortunately. In a town with food as amazing as Portland’s, there are too many better options than Red Fig. I had a chicken breast and rib combo. The wife had Panang chicken. We started with Hawaiian meatballs. None of it was bad, but none of it excited me much. Nice flavors, nice spice, but just not as good as I expect from a cute little place like this in Portland. It was good enough that we’ll likely go again as it is right up the street from us, but it won’t be anything regular. Again, too many other amazing options.

I’m really not sure how this place has a high rating. The atmosphere was nice, really small and beautifully finished. There was one waitress who was also tending bar and she seemed to be good at multi tasking. The real reason we went was to try the food and it was seriously bland. When we arrived the waitress informed us that they were out of ribs and hawaiian meatballs, so maybe we missed the boat on the good food? We started with the sautéed mushrooms which had absolutely no flavor. They brought out two slices of cold bread with the mushrooms and a packet of butter(ihop?) Then onto the salmon dish over rice and steak over noodles. The noodles had no seasoning. The steak was the best part of the whole meal. My salmon was bleh… rice is rice and the salads accompanying out entrees were fresh, but served with an overly spicy and flavorless peanut sauce. I wont be going back or giving any recommendations to The Red Fig.

I came across Red Fig because of a Groupon offer and once I looked at the reviews, I wondered how this place has slipped under the radar from me. It is a restaurant that does business out of a converted house. It sits right next to Bumblekiss Restaurant. They have roughly 25 seats and about a 8 – 10 outside. We walked in and got seated promptly. We ordered the Teriyaki Steak(Flat Iron) and the Soy/Ginger Salmon. When the food arrived we moved the plates towards us and one of my pet peeves came into play. They put both the salad and hot food on one plate and it was a refrigerated plate. Hot food on a cold plate? Are you serious? The food itself was tasty but I wonder how much better it would be if it had held the hot temperature longer with a warm plate? They also did a great job on the brown rice. It was fluffy and light. The service was done by one lone server but she did an excellent job.

Great quaint restaurant with limited 7 table seating. Good ambiance with 2 flat screen tv with sports usually on. Good cocktails and food. My wife had the BBQ teriyaki ribs and I had the ginger salmon both on bed of brown rice and salad with ginger dressings. Last time, the salmon was abit dry and I mentioned that so this time the salmon was perfectly most. I would definitely go there again. Tip: get a groupon if offered value at $ 20 for only $ 10. Save the $ 10 for a cocktail or dessert which is also good?
