If looking for some of the world’s greatest guided meditation teachers and very experienced yoga instructors. Look no more, this is a very loving and beautiful place where one can experience spiritual enlightenment and growth. Thank YOU! I love all of you deeply and thank you for being here in Portland.

I don’t live in Portland but if I did, The Movement Center would be a significant part of my life every week. They offer a range of educational and yoga classes and a welcoming atmosphere. I’ve benefited greatly from my visits to TMC, and Swami Chetanananda’s talks are not to be missed. If you are interested in developing your own meditation and/​or yoga practice, this is a fantastic resource and community worth visiting.

It was uplifting, informative, and peaceful. Enjoyed my one-​on-​one breathing session and look forward to another opportunity in the future. I wish it wasn’t such a long drive for me.

The paradise I hope to visit again. The energy is mesmerizing. I loved the meditation & yoga practices very much and was lucky enough to meet swami Chetanananda in Long Beach a few months ago.

Awesome yoga classes with something for everyone. They have a wide variety of practices from healing yoga that’s super relaxing to Hatha flow. Some of the teachers are in training and are so nice and helpful. They might start a class by reading or teaching you something new about yoga, and they will do some adjustments to help you with your poses. The movement center is basically a mansion so it’s not a traditional business. The rooms are big, they have plenty of blocks and blankets, and the classes aren’t very crowded. Go there! You’ll love it.

I’m pretty sure that this is the best place to take a yoga class anywhere, ever. I’ve been to a lot of places, but this one beats them all. I just wish it wasn’t so far from my house.

I think it’s amazing when a yoga studio offers donation only community meditations twice a week, Mondays and Wednesdays from 7−8pm. (There’s also a $ 5 suggested donation for yoga before the meditations starting at 5:45pm.)
The staff is very friendly and never made me feel obligated to give a donation. Some people donated cash, others fruit, candles or incense. Every gift was graciously received.
There are plenty of meditation pillows to use or you can sit on a bench or folding chair.
The incense was a little overpowering at first, but I eventually got (mostly) used to it as the hour progressed.
We started with chanting, which was really more like singing. There were instruments and a great beat going. Then, the mediation leader talked about the importance of meditation before guiding into meditation.
After meditating, I felt so much better. I’d accidentally over-​caffeinated my body beforehand so my head was fuzzy and my body weak (I’m hypoglycemic) but afterward felt perfectly fine.
The leader was available for discussion after the mediation and was very amiable. We were invited into the dining hall for dinner. I’m not clear on if this cost money or what it consisted of. I wasn’t hungry so I decided not to go.
They have other free community events, too. Overall I got the sense that they really cared about people and weren’t just out to make money.
They do have yoga classes and meditation classes you can pay to go to as well. If I lived closer, I might consider them more seriously.
