I have eaten here 5 times and every time left full and very happy. The Shrimp Sandwich is the way to go with a side of Mac and Cheese.

Very friendly service, delicious food! Had the Shrimp Po’Gal(and I don’t normally eat seafood). Well-spiced, the bun was nice and thick, and the shrimp was perfect. I will be back for dessert next time!

The shrimp and grits is awesome! The grits were piping hot and the shrimp was cooked perfect. Portion size was enough for 2 people as comfort food fills you up. My kiddo had the chicken and waffles and all the bites I stole from her were just as awesome as the shrimp and grits! The chicken was juicy with a crispy batter on the outside and cooked perfectly inside. Can’t wait to go back and try more items from the menu. I’ll be back! :-)

Solid Cajun joint in the soon to be very busy Vancouver/Freemont pod. Jambalaya was very generous in size — probably two meals worth for the average person — for $ 7 was a bargain. Plenty of shrimp and sausage throughout and very tasty. A little heavy handed with seasoning which I didn’t mind but may be a bit hot for some. The banana pudding is to die for… Don’t go there without getting some. I would definitely go back and try some other dishes.

This food cart Is on a corner lot, very near Emanuel hospital, where by boyfriend works. I ordered Mac n cheese, Bodin(likes sausage stuffed with meat and wonderfully flavorful rice) Texas hot link and green beans. Wicked tasty! I was looking for a BBQ cart that had been there before but I’m so glad I stumbled upon this gem instead! Those green beans are slap yo mama good! Uuuhhh!

Stopped in on a sunny early spring day, what a good choice. The ladies who take your order and make the food are incredibly friendly, like real southern hospitality like anyone who has lived in the south knows. They actually have Boudin(by the way it is pronounced BOO-Dan! not Bow-dyn) and we also had the shrimp po girl. They know how to make good Boudin(homemade, and you can tell) as well as how to properly season without over seasoning a good shrimp sandwich. An all around great deal for a good meal, not to mention they were friendly enough to let us try one of their very tasty Pork ribs for free! I will certainly be back, and you would be making a smart choice to come try some of this amazing Cajun food!

I picked up some jambalaya and potato salad on my way home the other day. My boyfriend’s family is from Louisiana and are known for their Cajun cooking(and he’s very picky) so I was curious as to what he’d think of it. Absolutely incredible. The jambalaya was flavorful, perfectly cooked and came in a large portion. The potato salad was tangy and delicious. She even threw in a boudin to try and it was so good. She gave me a few tips for my roux for the next time I make gumbo that I’m looking forward to trying. A+ all around.

I finally tried Taste of the Bayou to assist me with some of my Thanksgiving side dishes. I heard a lot of good things about this place but can’t seem to give up cooking everything myself. I’m so glad I did! I bought their mac and cheese, banana pudding and sweet potato pie, all so delicious, everybody loved it. The owner, Katrina was exceptional. Now just looking to go back just for lunch and try some of their signature, single size dishes.

Tried this for the first time yesterday and was very pleasantly surprised! I was first blown away at the energy of the crew working! Great, great people! Friendly, energetic, and funny! The food was delicious as well! We tried the dirty rice and the shrimp and grits — both fantastic and I’m excited to try the rest of the menu!

The Seafood gumbo was da bomb. Shrimp, crab(dungeness!) and shredded chicken, yum. My lovely gf had the shrimp and grits with a side of gooey Mac and cheese. She gave it a hearty thumbs up!

What a great and genuine group of people running this food cart in N Portland. They are genuine and open, their personalities alone will bring you back. Toss in the tasty food, how can you go wrong, I’ve been there twice and can see myself coming back many many times. I have had the gumbo, boudin, jambalaya and for desert the banana pudding and pound cake. I have enjoyed each item a great deal. Made from scratch — they know what they are doing. Ask for Katrina, you will know her by her amazing smile. You will want to thank her when you are done eating here.
