Stopped into this store after hearing about it on Chinook Book. First impression was a smaller version of Portland Homestead Supply Co. in Sellwood. I was very impressed with the customer service and the layout of this store. They had many home projects that would be perfect for doing with children, such as growing sprouts, making soap, or making lip balm. They had a large supply of fermentation tools, which I only recognized as such thanks to a free New Seasons ‘make your own sauerkraut’ class. They also had beautiful artisan brooms similar to the ones sold over in Sellwood. Totally worth the investment IMHO. I didn’t end up purchasing anything this trip, but I have my eyes on the gorgeous cast iron cookware and the ‘make your own lipbalm’ kits. Their Facebook tells me they have fun classes, which I hope to make it to in the future. Worth checking out!

For about a year, St. Johns Living Well has been behind the Starbucks off Lombard and I never knew but I just spotted them on my way to Fourth Estate. And this is what I found. All the things to make soap, cheese, candles, beer, art … you name it. They sell Lodge cast iron cookware including the exact pizza stone I had in my amazon shopping cart! Herbs, teas, essential oils, gorgeous straw brooms, a variety of clays, beeswax and even a few more things! Bring your own container for bulk cosmetic oils and cleaning ingredients or they can provide something for you. There are classes and a room that can be rented! I saw familiar, tried and true instructional books throughout the store as well. Love it!

I absolutely adore this store. Learned about them in Facebook and was completely excited to try them out. I’ve made many visits to their store and from tea, to aromatherapuetic cleaner to permaculture playing cards — this store is such a GEM. Information is right at your finger tips, experienced or inexperienced. The owners are great and remember who you are and that you’ve visited before and love to make you feel welcome. Whatever business you can give this local business, please do. They deserve it.
