Sit Run Play

Jen is simply put THE BEST. She has been taking our pup out on walks 3 days a week and we just adore her. The first time she came over, our dog curled right up in her lap so we knew she would be a great fit. She has been really flexible and able to change up the walking schedule week to week if our work schedules require it. She is a great communicator via email and text. Our pup is clearly so happy when he has his walks with her, the social time is great for him as well as the opportunity to romp around in some of the city parks that we don’t necessarily get to on a regular basis. Sadly, we have just moved outside of the area she services but we will continue to use her whenever we can for boarding, etc!

Finding Jen has been an absolute miracle for our Havanese who has major separation anxiety. My husband and I travel a fair amount and have left our pup with Jen on many occasions over the last year. He always comes home happy and completely normal which is a HUGE deal for an anxious and easily traumatized dog. We know he gets lots of love and exercise/​socialization while we are away and that makes leaving so much easier. Jen is very reliable, responsive by email or text, and flexible with pick up and drop off. To me and my husband there is definitely a difference between a dog lover and someone who understands dogs. Affection is important but so is understanding the exercise, discipline, and socialization side of being a dog owner. Jen understands dogs on top of being a warm and kind human being. I couldn’t recommend her more highly!

I had been taking my dog to Sniff for boarding, but they got so popular and busy that they were always booked up when I needed dog boarding (I’m also a last minute appointment maker, so it’s partially my fault). After a search on Unilocal,I found Jen… and I’m sooo glad I did. I love that my dog Penny stays in an actual home and isn’t cooped up in a kennel for half a day. Jen is so wonderful to work with: she’s very communicative and will update me on how Penny is doing without me even asking, she sends pictures, and I love that she took my dog to the beach when she was dog sitting. It warms my heart to think that my dog gets to go on all of these adventures with Jen. Also, Penny used to be shy around other dogs, but has become more playful and outgoing with dogs her size ever since I’ve been going to Jen.
I will end this review with one of my absolute favorite aspects of going to Jen, and dog owners I think will empathize with me. Oftentimes if I’m away for a weekend and fly home Sunday, almost all dog boarding places won’t be open for you to pick up your dog. When I’ve been away from Penny for a weekend, I just want to see her cute face, and it’s hard to wait an entire day just to be able to pick her up at the boarders. Jen, on the other hand, is super flexible about when you can pick up your dog. You don’t have to be within the 24 hour time period (and get charged another day) like almost all boarders here. I had dropped my dog off at 8am and picked her up at 10pm (yes! 10pm!) the following day, and Jen only charged me for the 1 day.
I can’t recommend Jen enough! No more Sniff for my pup.

Jen has been walking our little guy Cooper for a few months now, and she’s been incredible to work with. She’s really flexible with our schedules, great at communicating any issues or things that pop up, she’s reliable, and I can tell she really loves spending time with the dogs. Cooper’s temperment and behavior have improved a bit since walking with her, and it seems like being with the other dogs has been really great for his development. I don’t think twice about Cooper during the day because I know he’s in good hands with Jen, and he’s always a tired, content pup when I come home.

Jen is the greatest. We adopted a pretty shaken-​up shelter dog this past fall, and finding Sit Run Play has helped us out immensely. We’ve used Jen’s pet sitting services several times, and our anxiety-​prone pup always comes home happy and normal, as if we were never gone. This is a major accomplishment for a dog who would panic when we left her for even five minutes! Jen clearly has a natural gift for working with animals. Our dog is so at ease with her, so I know she’s not only well taken care of, but totally happy with Jen! Jen is also just a really nice person — she’s friendly, punctual, and always a pleasure to work with. I just can’t stress enough how awesome Jen is! A million stars!

I think our family has the honor of being one of Jen’s first clients now that she has moved to Portland. I picked up her card because of her slogan ‘it’s not just a walk, but an adventure!’ We own a very high energy, playful dog that needs and wants to run daily. Jen fulfills that need by taking the dogs swimming, running, socializing etc. not just a walk around the block. (Though I’m sure if you had an older dog she could cater to that need too!) we found her to be be very thorough in her questioning about our dog before she took her anywhere. She is a wonderful communicator and if you are away it’s really nice that Jen sends a note about your pup before you even ask. I’m sure she will do great here in Portland and we will continue to use and recommend Jen to friends and fellow dog lovers.

I had the honor of having Jen work for me for the past 6 years. I own a dog walking service as well as a doggie daycare/​boarding facility in San Francisco. Jen is honest, reliable, GREAT with the dogs and pretty darn hilarious too! I cannot think of anyone that I would trust more with my dogs and my home.
San Francisco’s loss is definitely Portland’s gain.

Jen has been part of our lives for six years, walking Farley daily and boarding her at least 2x month while I’m traveling, and she has been an absolute treasure. My shepherd mix is a high anxiety rescue and isn’t comfortable with many people, but she adores Jen, because she’s always been loving, patient, calm and supportive with her. Jen is reliable and responsible, and you can feel how much she cares for your pup with every interaction, and how much your dog loves her right back. There were times I was sick in bed and Jen would pick Farley up (always on time), and I could hear them in the doorway, so happy to see one another and head out on their adventures. That kind of bonding and reliability make it so much easier leaving your dog behind.
I moved from San Francisco to Southern California in 2012, and still drive back to SF so Jen can watch Farley, who goes absolutely nuts when she see’s her. My only regret is Jen isn’t moving near us in So Cal, but San Francisco’s loss is Portland’s gain!
