Bright open place to have breakfast. Lots of seating. We had some of the breakfast toasts with egg and they were good. I also enjoyed the cranberry apricot tart with some coffee. We want to come back sometime to try their pizza.

This is a review by a vegetarian An excellent source of alternative baked goods. This is not the place for a chocolate cupcake or a croissant. It’s where you get a tumeric spiced muffin or a spelt biscuit or a rosemary whole wheat toast with a breakfast topping. Flours are ground in house. Goods are cooked in the wood burning oven that, later in the day, also produces pies for the co-located Handsome Pizza. Probably better in the cold months since the items have an earthy warming ethos. Full coffee serve of Trailhead roasts. 1 star off because it can be a little smokey when weather prevents doors and windows being open. Also, service can be a little pokey; not due to slack effort but because it’s authentically artisan and wood ovens aren’t known for convenience.

Seastar is an extraordinary dining experience, at once artisanal and at the same time willing to push culinary boundaries. The breads and pastries evoke a sense of timelessness, a sense that they could have been delivered, freshmade… from a hundred years ago. This sense of wholesome simplicity and purity leads to a similar sense of good health. It’s almost as if my body wakes up to a whole new food experience. Their«Little Beirut», with an add of house-cured bacon, is a revelation: the alimentary equivalent of rejuvenative weekend at Breitenbush. The body is invigorated, the soul enlivened. At Seastar, you can eat amazing food, that also is good for you. And, you give nothing up to the breakfast gut bombs at places like The Screen Door or Tin Shed or Gravy. Those joints have their place… once every, say, oh 6 months. In the interim, visit Sea Star, and see how food that honors your body can transform your soul.

Such a cute littler spot to grab breakfast in Portland with yummy food and great coffee! Ordered John & Allison’s Cornbread Special and my friend had the toast w/egg, caramelized onions & tomato. –1 star because my friend found a hair in her food :/

Everything at Seastar is amazing… It’s a great place to grab some quick coffee and a pastry but also a nice place to sit with friends and have a delicious breakfast. First off– the biscuits!!! Woah– so prefect. Very unique texture and taste. Maybe the best biscuits ever!!! Toast options– delicious! I especially love their breakfast specials as they are always changing. Service– everyone is so delightful and helpful! When I’m feeling indecisive, they always give great suggestions. Overall, amazing place!

LOVEIT. Great food, amazing smells, cozy atmosphere, sick music, wonderful people. I am going to regret this review because now all of you are going to go and I’m going to have to wait in line, but I love the company, so I guess it’s worth it.

I live in the neighborhood, so I come here about 3 – 4 times a week for coffee or breakfast. I have never been even remotely disappointed with anything that I’ve gotten. The baked goods are perfect(my favorites are the Espresso Bran Muffin and the Seastar Biscuits), and the actual breakfasts are amazing as well. Everything tastes fresh, flavorful, and natural. I would recommend trying the Breakfast Salad or the Pear Compote… or anything else. So glad this place is right next to my house. Also, the staff members are very sweet.

I first discovered this place through the amazing photos on their instagram account(@seastarbakery), and was eager to try it out. The bakery is on Killingsworth just on the corner before Podnah’s, and shares a space with Handsome Pizza Co. I wasn’t sure exactly what to expect menu-wise but was really pleased. It is a short, but very well curated menu of baked goods, and toasts. The toast is what to get. They have a «choose your own adventure» type portion, as well as really delicious and interesting combinations that they’ve come up with. I decided to choose my own adventure, and selected the 100% red fife wheat toast(one of five options), and added peanut butter and macerated strawberries. I also got a cup of their house coffee, which is at a self serve station. The toast was friggin delicious. The bread itself was really nice. It had a great flavor, and texture, and was a nice thick cut. The peanut butter was generous, and delicious, and the macerated strawberries were dreamy — like still thinking about them days later. Though I loved the combo I selected and would totally get it again, I am really excited to try some of the combinations that they’ve come up with. The two that were the most tempting to me were, on the sweet end — stewed peaches + ricotta + hazelnuts + honey + cinnamon + polenta semolina toast — and on the savory end — coppa + oven-fried egg + bread&butter pickle + parmesan + polenta semolina toast. The coffee was also excellent. I drank most of it at the bakery, but finished it hours later when it was cold, and the flavor was super rich and chocolatey, and not at all bitter. On top of it all, the service was super friendly. Loved this place.
