Walking in to KLM is like seeing family. Starting with Kia at the front desk, she made me feel so welcome. Laura cuts my hair and has done an amazing job for the last three years. It’s really fun watching Kristina, Mary and Laura bounce creative ideas off of each other. I highly recommend KLM.

Anyone who lives in the Portland area who is not going to this salon is doing themselves a serious disservice! This place is amazing. I was a first-time customer this afternoon and left with the most beautiful cut and color I’ve ever had, but the couple of hours I spent here were just as great. Mary is a phenomenal stylist — super nice, friendly, attentive, knowledgeable, not at all pushy, and also gorgeous and awesome in general. She was a joy to work with. Kia at the front desk is also fantastic — in addition to being so thoughtful and polite, she refilled my meter for an extra two hours in case I wanted to walk around and get coffee or something after my appointment(she offered to do this and was hands down the nicest receptionist/apprentice I’ve ever experienced). The salon itself is cozy but chic, with really fun décor and a great atmosphere. I had been searching and searching for a new place to get my hair done and it was such a relief to find this one! Seriously, nothing even remotely negative to say. As a sidenote: I had a Baylayage color with Opalex treatment, a cut, and a blowout, and it was all done to perfection.

I haven’t been here yet but Laura was my stylist at another salon in the Old Port. I look forward to returning to Laura after too many years!

Kristina has been cutting and highlighting my hair for quite a few years now. I’m so glad she has her own salon! She is wonderful — she pays attention to what you want, but also makes suggestions based on the shape of your face, your style sense, etc. I used to walk just 3 blocks to get Kristina to do my hair. Now I have to go about a dozen blocks, but it’s worth every step.
