Roosevelt’s Terrariums

I brought my daughter in who was so excited to make a terrarium. Unfortunately, the person working there thought looking at his cell phone was much more exciting then engaging with customers. .

What a charming little shop! The owner and his high-​school-​aged son run the place together, and their selection is great and their terrariums are incredible. They have all manner of plants, vessels, magnet and felt systems to clean condensation from the inside of the glass, and poison dart frogs to add some fauna to your flora. So. Cool.
They are happy to chat terrariums with you, and they run classes, which sound like a bunch of fun. The prices are really good, too (terrariums ain’t cheap though).

I LOVE my new Terrarium and I want to go back and create more. Gregg was an excellent teacher and I would recommend him to anyone. I do not have a green thumb, but with Gregg’s help and the «magic of the terrarium effect» I’m confident my creation will thrive.

This shop is an amazing terrarium shop in Portland! You can definitely tell that Gregg, the owner has a passion for what he does. He was very nice in answering all of my questions. It’s fun to explore the shop and see the beautiful terrariums on display. They sell for great prices as well. Professional service is great as well. I was overcharged for what I bought and after contacting the shop, I was immediately refunded!

Took a ‘Build Your Own Terrarium’ class here and it was so wonderful! Mr. Roosevelt gives a history background of everything you need to know about terrariums. He gives very good instructions and reasoning behind everything. There are lots of options to create your own unique style. You will learn how to make terrariums like a pro. We were so happy how everyone’s turned out. It was fun and educational :) All the materials are really good quality!

Roosevelt’s is the best terrarium shop in Portland. They specialize in terrariums and plantings. My wife and I were both able to plant terrariums under the guidance of Gregg the shop owner and his son James. We had a ton of fun!
The planting we bought lives in our living room and is a vibrant addition. We plan to buy several air-​plants soon to add to the plants in our home.
Gregg also provides excellent advice on plants in general and his is an expert.

I signed up for the terrarium class with a group of girlfriends and had such a fabulous time!!! Such a fun thing to do with a group of friends or for a kid’s birthday party! If you want a housewarming gift, a houseplant you have a VERY low chance of killing, or an exotic showpiece to show off in your home, Roosevelt’s Terrariums is definitely worth checking out!

Once you open the door to this little shop you are stepping into a different world. It’s so beautiful, it’s mesmerizing. I could stand there for hours. The owner is so knowledgeable and sweet. I loved chatting with him about his craft that he loves.

My daughter had her 16^th birthday party here last evening — seven teenagers with different interests and attention spans, and «Mr. Roosevelt» kept everyone wonderfully engaged with history, science, quotes, and stories. Really cool. (Did I mention these were regular ol’ teenagers?!)
I highly recommend visiting and supporting Gregg’s beautiful shop; seriously! Don’t delay, because, right up til you get in there, you’re just depriving yourself of a really fun and enriching experience. Try a class — it’s worth it.

My boyfriend got me a terrarium here for my birthday, and after a fungus appeared on one of the succulents, I was surprised and disappointed. This had never happened to me before! I called Roosevelts to see if they could help, and the owner offered to replace the succulent free of charge! I came I right away, and he went to work. After 5 minutes, the terrarium was good as new, he had offered some advice to keep the plants happy and healthy, and I was a happy camper! Fantastic store, gorgeous terrariums, and superb service! I would be here so often if the store were open later. A must-​visit for cacti, succulent, and air plant lovers!

We had a 9yo birthday party here, and Greg the owner was great, explaining the history of terrariums from a scientific perspective. Highly recommended!

A perfectly magical terrarium workshop minded by absolute experts. I was gifted the perfect vessel by my beau, and the experience of outfitting it with plants and features of my choosing. Both James and his father guided my creation expertly and I’m thrilled with my new botanical eco-​system. Also enjoyed getting to know more about how this special spot came to be and the passion that fuels this father-​son business duo. Such a welcoming, professional, high-​quality business – cannot wait to share with my co-​workers and friends alike.

Seriously one of the best businesses I’ve dealt with in a long time. The owner, Gregg, took care of my order over the phone and was very helpful. I was only ordering a gift card for my youngest brother, but he made me feel as if I was a top customer (he pulled over on the spot and took care of my order instead of asking me to call back). And he gladly split the order between two cards and is getting the card in the mail today. I’m looking forward to my brother being able to use the card and also stopping in when I visit. Thank you for making it so easy!

I have been wanting to check out this shop for a few weeks and I finally got a chance to head over to the Hawthorne area! It did not disappoint. The store is very interesting and is filled with adorable goodies. Large variety of plants. My son came along with me and was so impressed he made me promise to bring him back again before we even left. We have a pet chameleon and we were able to find several safe plants to put in his screened habitat with the help of the shopkeeper. We were also surprised and impressed to see that they have frogs for sale on the store. The frogs can live in a terrarium which I have to say is crazy interesting! We plan to come back again and maybe even take a class! I think this is a great store to buy something for yourself or for a personal gift for a friend. Nice orchard too! Check it out, you won’t be disappointed with the shop or the helpful service you receive here.

I had a great time building a terrirum with my family. The 5 of us had the pleasure of being coached through the process by Gregg. It was relaxing, engaging and artsy! The selection of glass containers and plants was fabulous. Plus, Gregg gave us a short but fascinating lesson on the history of terrirums.

What a pleasant discovery! I stayed in an Airbnb in this neighborhood to get a feel for it as I am considering moving to Portland. It’s like walking into a lovely rainforest and finding a new friend to chat and share coffee with. The terrariums are inspiring, and I was pleased to find some fabulous air plants to take back home with me. Gregg is charming and engaging to hang out with — fresh coffee and cookies also help I recommend a visit! Oh… And keep your eyes open for Ming, the beautiful Bengal jungle cat!

Had a great experience here today– the gorgeous shop cat alone is worth a visit, but the wares are really lovely. They had exactly what I was looking for (an air plant to replace the one I may have seriously neglected at home) and the owner is very knowledgable. Will come back when I need a nice gift!

Oh my goodness! My mom and I stopped in because she (mom) has become obsessed with terrariums. So many interesting and beautiful things to see, and Gregg was AMAZINGLY KIND, and very interesting to talk to.
They carry everything you could want, to DIY a terrarium, but what really impressed me were the bea-​U-​tiful pre-​made terrariums at unbelievably reasonable prices!

Mr. Harris was warm and welcoming. He freely shared advice about caring for houseplants and fun facts about dart frogs. We learned more from 30 minutes with him than I learn in a typical museum visit. Here’s a true expert cultivating a community of home gardeners. What a delightful place to hang out!
