I started studying with Dan hoping to improve my confidence and chops as a singer. Dan quickly evolved into a mentor that has helped me transform as a composer, singer, piano player and transcriber. His passion and kindness is infectious, and he is extremely flexible as a teacher, allowing him to respond to whatever you need on any given day. We must have moved through a dozen different styles together — from funk to pop to classical to easy listening to hard rock — and Dan was always able to guide and inspire me. The learning environment at ResoundNW is comfortable while still being rigorous. I like to think of my lessons with Dan as practice for the soul. I came out of every lesson feeling totally exuberant. Given that the voice is a portal to so many non-musical things, the time we spent discovering and challenging my voice translated directly into a more all-encompassing confidence. In addition to the voice lessons at ResoundNW, I highly recommend the monthly Song Studios. These meetings are low-stakes recitals/master classes that give you the opportunity to perform in a very comfortable setting while getting excellent feedback from peers and teachers alike. Not only did I learn directly from the critiques of my own performance in these classes, but I also found it enlightening to watch Dan work with other people. As with the lessons at ResoundNW, I left each of these classes feeling empowered. I highly recommend ResoundNW to both advanced students and beginners alike. In addition to Dan, I got to meet and work with a couple of the other teachers at this music school, and all of them were talented and inspiring people. You can’t go wrong taking lessons at ResoundNW!

I’ve always wanted to sing, and do sing a lot in the car and around the house Never did karaōke or anything, but love music and admire singers. When I met Daniel, I just had to make an appointment for a voice lesson. The next think I knew, I felt like I was on vacation and had to sign up for more. Daniel is a great instructor. We focused on breathing a lot. I didn’t realize how many ways breathing affects ones voice. Little did I realize all the tips stuck and as I sang randomly in the car or at home, I was paying attention to breathing as well as tone and that was good practice. I highly recommend Daniel Buchanan and the Resound group. Check them out, you will be delighted you did.

Daniel Buchanan of Resound NW provided public speaking coaching, as I am asked to speak occasionally at events. He primarily provides voice lessons, but agreed to help me as I was looking for assistance on improving my presentation and delivery as well as how to relax in front of a large audience. Daniel watched me give a mock presentation and provided great suggestions including my posture and voice inflections. I used what I learned at the next speaking engagement and I was complimented multiple times by the attendees.

Wow — What a fantastic experience! I took my daughter to Resounds NW for vocal lessons/music appreciation and we met with Nicole Berke. What a beautiful soul she was! My daughter can be very shy about showing off her voice and opening up but Nicole was so patient and said/did all the right things to make her feel comfortable enough to really open up. Nicole helped her compose a song about her kitty and then they sang it together — It was adorable! She made learning fun and my daughter left there just beaming. Nicole was very knowledgeable and really took the time to answer our questions. I would so highly recommend resound NW(specifically Nicole) to anyone interested in voice lessons or music appreciation!

I recently took a guitar lesson from Maria Olaya. It was my first. Maria was warm, welcoming and encouraging. I listened to her play and was inspired to hone my skills. I learned so many tricks and techniques in such a short period of time that I was very hopeful that my playing could improve. That is what I liked about Maria. Feeling like I could get better. The studio was very cute and cozy and the experience very enjoyable. I would strongly recommend her services.

I’ve been singing with Resound NW’s Soul Singing group for the past year and can’t say enough about how much I’ve enjoyed the music, the camaraderie and the growth I’ve experienced through Daniel’s leadership and teaching. I’ve had several years of voice lessons in the past, but Daniel takes voice coaching to a totally different level. He can find just the right exercise or technique to get me through a vocal challenge. More than anything, his warmth and positive energy bring out the best in everyone he encounters. I highly recommend Daniel and Resound NW to anyone who wants to rediscover the joy of singing.

I recently went to a Karaōke event for one of my best friend’s birthday parties. What a disaster! I could not hold a note to save my life and truly felt embarrassed. Coincidentally, later in the week I heard about Resound NW from a colleague and I decided to check it out. I met with Nicole Berke for a singing lesson and to my complete surprise it was an awesome experience! Nicole has a kind and gentle nature; the type of person you just want to be around! When I walked in I was immediately welcomed by her beautiful smile and cheerful disposition. You can tell instantly that she loves music and enjoys sharing her passion with others. Since this was my first voice lesion, I was extremely reserved and anxious, but Nicole instantly calmed my nerves and encouraged me to practice vocal warm ups with her. My tense shoulders relaxed and in no time I was having a ton of fun. Seriously, it was fun!!! Nicole’s voice is smooth and soulful yet during the lesson she never made me feel overpowered or intimidated. She authentically wanted me to tap into my creative side and explore my voice. Nicole helped me identify my vocal strengths and purposefully choose pieces to work on that were enjoyable and confidence boosting. All and all, it was a totally joyful experience! It will take me several more lessons before I am ready for another Karaōke experience, but I am certain that working with Nicole will help me have a more pleasant experience singing publicly.

I just want to say how welcomed and comfortable I felt on my first voice lesson. Daniel is an amazing teacher and made me feel at home in his beautiful studio! I was very nervous but his teaching method and technique allowed me to calm down and get the most out of our session. I highly recommend Resound NW to all who love to sing! ****Updated Review**** Resound NW just keeps getting better and better. I had a voice lesson with Nicole and she is absolutely amazing. I am typically very shy especially when it comes to singing but she made me feel like I was right at home. I didn’t feel pressure and the atmosphere she provided made it feel like I was just singing with a friend.(A friend who really knows music) Right away I could sense her passion for music and just that alone put me at ease, knowing that I was in good hands. It is reassuring when you know that someone actually cares not only about music but about making my experience an enjoyable one. I had a great one on one session where she played the piano and I sang. I will be the first to admit that I’m in no way a singer but music and singing bring me so much joy. That is the main reason I wanted to try out more singing lessons. Nicole, made me realize how emotions and even memory can be related to music and she opened my eyes to a lot of things that I just never thought of with music. I definitely got more out of the lesson than I expected. I will be coming back for more lessons in the future and definitely recommend Nicole at Resound NW to anyone who is interested in working with a passionate individual!
