I love going in to see whats new, but I always end up talking with the owner, who is an absolutely lovely woman. Incredibly knowledgeable and she will help you find the perfect hat. I own a tattoo shop a few doors down and its hard to walk by without going in to see what’s new. I’ve got quite the hat collection now!
I’ve never been to a better hat store. Everything you need from the Kentucky derby to a Stetson cowboy hat. Only the top of the line hats. Don’t forget to buy a hat box to keep your favorite new hat safe from dust and it keeps its shape.

The Queen of Hats is not just a place, she a person. The proprietor of this store has a deep knowledge of, and passion for, hats. She sells them, she makes them, she talks excitedly about them, and when she handles them, she does so with care.
You’ll find everything from fascinators to fedoras here, and she has a decent selection of my favorite, the cabbie hat. I love seeing a store do one thing and do it well, and that’s also what you’ll find at The Queen of Hats.

I was in town staying in Portland for a wedding, and before the ceremony I decided to walk around downtown and browse in the shops. When I went in to Queen of Hats, at first I was just trying on hats and having fun, but before too long, the salesperson had helped me find the perfect hat for that day’s celebration! She really knew what she was doing and guided me toward styles that suited me (but was NOT AT ALL pushy.) She even customized the trim to match my outfit perfectly. I got lots of compliments on my look and it absolutely made the whole ensemble come together. Also it was very very affordable, considering the handcrafted quality of the piece.
There are so few shopping experiences these days where you can interact with an experienced craftsperson who will personally create an item to match your style. I come from New York City… and I doubt I’d find the same experience that I found at Queen of Hats! A treasure… go check them out!

WOW, what a fantastic place. You can find a homemade, fancy, french, fantastic, felt or faux fur or fashionable hat of any kind here… I mean ANY TYPE OF HAT.
very reasonable too, from bargains to expensive, but great. I got a flowered felt hat in a wine color. One of kind for sure. Like me. I am such the hat person, I can’t have enough. I found 3 hats lost in the places I hike and I purchased one here.
So, I got 4 hats on this trip. but the crowning touch… is the one I bought from Queen of Hats.
