Our room was decent although I kinda wished we had a kitchen. We stayed for two nights and three days and it would’ve been nice to whip up something ourselves instead of having to eat and/or order out. I didn’t care too much for the decorations. It was a rustic/native american meets Texas kinda thing. There was even a big longhorn statue which I found oddly creeping. It was put right above the only table in the room which we also used as a dining table so the thing was looking at us as we enjoyed our meal. Niiiiice. The room was clean enough. There were enough towels provided. The hot tub was a nice touch for us. The pool and jacuzzi looked not so clean but we decided hey, we’re in Portland, might as well make the most of our time here and decided to give it a go. All the lights were off except one. I mean I like to look on the bright side of things and I suppose you can say it provided a nice ambiance for the room and it set the mood. The water was waaaaaaay too cold for the jacuzzi though. Overall it was a decent stay for a cheap hotel. I really wasn’t expecting much and left w/a pleasant experience which is always nicer than the other way around. I wouldn’t want to do this hotel again lol. We kept passing other hotels nearby that we saw that looked waaay better.

The Quality Inn on 181st Street is an older not so well kept motel. The rooms(ours was non-smoking) had a very heavy cigarette smell the goes throughout the motel. We had to keep our windows open the hole time. Also the shower area, including the curtain, had a very musty and moldy smell. There were several minor maintenance problems that should have been addressed including water damage at the bottom of the jacuzzi tub, etc. The bed was very comfortable and the duvee on the bed was very nice. The rustic furnishings were nice too. By the sign in front of the motel(showing the prevoious name Hawthorne Inn covered) maybe Choice Hotels recently acquired this property and are working to improve it. It did not meet the standard of the other 6 Choice Hotels we stayed at during our trip. With so many choices in the Portland area I would not recommend this motel.
