First, I have to say I am happy that they have ice to skate on year round. Not a lot of ice rinks do this.
Portland Ice Arena offer public skating and a good price and has multiple times to choose from.

Don’t know what to do in Portland, Maine during the day? Tell me about it. Being a Cali girl, I admit that Portland is way too small and uneventful at times. To alleviate the boredom during your weekdays I suggest visiting the local skate rink during public hours (12:15pm to 1:30pm, M-​F). For $ 7, you get ice skates and admission. It’s a deal compared to Cali prices.
Usually not busy especially during rainy days!
