Point West Credit Union

I recently got approved for a credit card. For four days now I have been trying to get a current copy of my statement. I did get the statement for the first part of last month, but I need the latter part of last month, to clear up an
order issue. These are some of the insurmountable problems I’m having with Point West. (1) their after hours voice mail ALWAYS says «the voice mail system is full.» (2) Point West CU will not get me the statement. The refer me to something called EZcardinfo. The EZcard Help page does not exist! (3) when I try to telephone EZcard at the number Point West gave me, that is also on the EZcard website, EZcard puts me on Hold for an unknown number of mintues, usually at leat 15 minutes, with no option for a Call Back, no option to leave a message. (4) I signed up for an EZcard account right away after I got the credit card in the mail, which is what Point West told me to do. (5) EZ card makes it so I cannot sign into my EZcard account. (6) it is impossible to email either Point West or EZ card. (7) When EZ card finally picked up the phone here’s what the told me: (a) You do not have an account with EZ card; (b) EZ card ONLY works with people in the prison systems — administrators and inmates. They do not have anything to do with Point West CU. They said to call the Point West. (8) I called Point West back, during the day. They told me to call EZcard. F**ck this credit union. Don’t go there. I plan to go to Umpqua Bank. Fortunately, I have my main account at Telco CU, which is a great credit union.

Disappointed as a new customer that I was sold on the advertisements to join. and then the terms changed downward within 2 months. Right up until the day it changed, their website was still advertising the deal I thought I would keep. Still a great return, though.

I have been a member at this credit union since before it was Point West and after many years of watching it go down the drain I am leaving…
The customer service is terrible. The people they’ve hired over the past 5yr or so are beyond rude and lack any decent service skills. The credit union has moved toward catering to a more Hispanic demographic (which is great, so don’t take this that way) but in doing so have forgotten about the rest of their community that doesn’t speak Spanish! I’m all for become a more diversely driven business but be better organized in encompassing ALL of you clients.
I’ve had multiple loans, Visa and car notes w/​the CU. I’ve had lots of issues with my auto payments, schedules have been changes w/​o my authorization and i spent a whole year trying to get it changed back but it never was. You can’t access you Visa through their website as they outsource their Visas which is very frustrating as well. On multiple occasions I had to convince tellers what could be done regarding transferring of my own funds as I’d been a customer so long I knew more then they did — and referring back to the lack of customer service I can’t tell you how many times I was spoken down to or rudely and received NO apology when they found out i was correct.
The 12^th Ave branch is beautiful, that’s always been a draw for me. They have a great car sale 1x per year and hold great charity drives.
I hope that they turn things around. They have a special place in my heart as I’ve been a member here for over 20yr (prior to PWCU it was Multco CU) but I just know better than to stick around at a failing bank.

Back in the 80s, this place was a popular night club called «Sweet Tippy Dunbar’s» (bonus for you if you knew that). I joined the CU when it was a different name, in the mid 90s. It became Point West sometime around the year 2000 in the Year o’ our Lord.
I’ve purchased and paid off several mortgages and vehicles through Point West, in addition to utilizing their CU services as a member. I especially love that, nowadays, you can go to any 7 – 11 and deposit a check w/​no service charges. Goodbye, bad old days of driving through horrible traffic to make it to the drive through before they close. I suppose it’s only a matter of time before they do charge you for the depositing service from a non-​CU ATM, but it’s still much faster, cheaper, and less hassle than fighting through mid day traffic yet again…
Note: the Drive-​Thru is CLOSED indefinitely for repairs; apparently the roof had pretty severe water damage…

For any Portlanders still looking to switch from their money-​sucking bank to a credit union, I can’t recommend Point West Credit Union enough. Today I called them up with an issue on one of my accounts. I was talking to a friendly human within 10 seconds. She understood the problem right away, and my account was fixed and I was off the phone less than two minutes later. Though I’ve rarely needed to talk to them in the six years they’ve held my accounts, it was a typical, positive experience at Point West.

I have been a member of Point West Credit Union for many years now. I use them for both personal and business purposes.
When I was looking to purchase equipment for my business, I shopped around for the best interest rates. I found Pt West to have the best rates. They saved me thousands of dollars from what the leasing company was going to charge.
On the personal side, I use their Visa service. Their rate is by far the lowest than any other bank and they offer a nice rewards program.
The staff is always welcoming and helpful. I enjoy banking with a local credit union that is owned by its members. I love not getting killed by fees that the big banks charge. It’s just refreshing to have good old fashion banking service again!

I have been a member of this credit union for almost 7 years now and after a recent experience with Bank of America (whom i unfortunately have several mortgages and a credit card with) i’m inspired to «yelp» about how much i love banking at this place.
Local, local, local, with all the benefits and hassle-​free feel-​good banking you can imagine. The person who can help you and make the ultimate decision about any issues you’re having is just an extension away.
Being a small business owner i’ve been able to grow (and contract in this economy) with their support and far less hassle than the previous banks i’ve worked with.

Randy Majors, the New accounts person at Point West, is very easy to work with; he helped me with my checking, IRA, and savings accounts. It feels good using a local financial institution! I highly recommend Point West Credit Union.
